We need proper investment in the team to get out of this shite League...Salaries are reported in the annual accounts too, but this is on a whole company basis rather than player by player. So you can surmise from our latest accounts that we have one of the highest wage budgets in the division, but you can’t figure exactly how much we’re overpaying each of these wastes of space.3 -

Leuth said:I've been fairly adamant he has to go for a few weeks, but yesterday would be the wrong game to fire him after. The players got a deserved clap off at the end. It was a horrible game and we play terrible football, but...it would feel wrong, this time, for me.
Win the next two and we'll review2 -
Yeah yeah 'we made them look doomed'1

Well done Nathan! Now please don't have a pop at the fans in your interview4

I'd been waiting all season for the game where it finally all clicked and we shellacked someone in the true Nathan Jones confluence of stars style. I gave up on that a few weeks ago, glad to see it finally happen. Now if we just do that every week from now on we'll probably be alright!

Jones just needs to leave things alone now for as much as he can... He's been forced to tinker at times, and probably got lucky today if there was a sickness bug that went around the squad, but sometimes a bit of luck is all that you need.
Luton fans said that he tends to persist with his formations and that players can sometimes take a while to come round to the way he expects them to play - Hopefully thats a sign that its starting to click.
This is Charlton though, so fully expecting a limp 3-0 defeat on Boxing Day now, with Allan Campbell getting 90mins and scoring a hat-trick of own goals.9 - Sponsored links:

He's clearly not lost the dressing room. Hope that can be put to bed. For all our problems, commitment isn't one of them.21

one swallow a summer does not make as we saw with the rampant win at Walsall1 -

And tbf they have always worked hard. They've just lacked the play going forwards.9 -

I still think Jones is as mad as a box of frogs. An accident waiting to happen. Very welcome and for me surprising win today and long may it continue but I have my doubts.5

Hopefully the win today will provide some stability going into the window that Jones will be our manager for the immediate future1

Unless there is a dramatic turnaround in our fortunes very soon, I will be amazed if Methven, Rodwell and Scott are still at Charlton come the start of next season.
At last, it looks like you're coming around to the fact we are in trouble.
If by trouble you mean relegation, you’ve been saying that the last three years…In the last 12 game form table we are firmly in the relegation zone. It took two changes of management to get us out of this position last season.0 -

Today was a great result and a much better performance, but every bit of criticism the players and manager have got recently has been well and truly deserved.

Trying to remain objective and not get too carried away, but there's still cautionary details for me - yes we played well and the attacking play was much more convincing BUT it was against a team that is not doing particularly well and there was a bit of luck in that (for once) a lot of those indefinable things fell in our favour more than against us.
While a 5-0 win is excellent, we've got to try and start getting more basic 2-0 or 2-1 type wins against decent teams before we can get too enthused.
We had 15 shots today, 7 on target, 5 goals. That won't happen every week, we need to be winning games where we might only get 4 or 5 chances instead.8 -
We were fortunate that a few things came together at once, illness and injuries dictated the team selection and formation, which worked.
Added to which Northampton were very bad and ripe for a hammering.
However sometimes it takes fate and a bit of luck to turn fortunes around, and we should take it, and use it as a springboard for the rest of the season.
There have been a few little signs over the past couple of weeks that Jones is trying to be more positive in how we play, included some nice through balls and forward runs from midfielders etc.
Until yesterday we rarely if ever managed to get in behind a defence and pull the ball back.
Berry and Mitchell both did it yesterday and we scored each time.
Some encouraging signs are finally emerging.3
