Well if we kept a clean sheet tonight we would have won as we scored twice!

Gassan Ahadme makes me miss Paul Benson.16

Jones did exactly the same v Blackpool in dropping Mitchell so seems he has a v short memory.6

We'll have to be MASSIVELY better than we are at the moment to win any of those, or even get a point.Admin, please ban this troll, he’s given himself away. No way this guy is a Charlton fan
And I’ve been told that I’m trying to shut down opposing views… never asked the mods to ban someone though7 -
I appreciate Jones owning up to getting things wrong, however he also said similar vs Blackpool. He needs to start getting things right as being 3 nil down rarely happens to us despite being in this league for what's seems like forever now2

I was a big advocate of Nathan Jones when he took over. I felt he was a real coup for the club & honestly believed he was the man to take the club forward. I still want to believe that he is the right man for the job, but it's hard to see any positives right now.
I know he's only had 1 transfer window, but how many players has he brought in...8? 9??......,& how many of those players are an improvement on what we had last season.??
I really want to believe NJ is the man to stabilise the club & take us forward, but I'm having doubts now.
It's a running joke on this forum, but maybe we are cursed!!!!7 -
Simon Church > Gassan Ahadme
Prove me wrong2 -
I would be interested to know what he thinks on reflection should have been his starting 11 and why he thinks that would have have made a difference.1

Narrow escape. Went to the pub quiz instead of persuading my Millwall supporting mate to watch the match with me.
I reckon Jones is off to Cardiff and the players know it. Maybe it's just that our pre-season fitness advantage has now worn off, the other teams have worked out we're just huff and puff hoof ball ... but it feels like more than that.1 -
It's game nine and TC has started six up front and Kanu two. I don't think either of them would be starting games for another club in L1.

The cruelty of Charlton is not losing the last 3 winnable games.
It is winning the next one.
Need to feed the cycle of frustration.1 -
Beginning to hate the way Nathan Jones talks in interviews. 'Aggression, intensity, front footed' - just same old buzz words from him. What about keeping the ball, playing it on the deck calmly etc?10

You only have to look at Derby away last season for the most recent example.9 -

I’ve been supporting Charlton since 1966 watching my first game against Leyton Orient. I’ve always looked forward to Charlton games but this is the first time I can remember looking at a team sheet & thinking we are going to get nothing from the game. I just couldn’t see where a goal was coming from with that line up. I was really pleased when Jones got the job but am rapidly thinking he might be yet another managerial mistake. As others have mentioned, Bolton game aside, every game so far we haven’t played particularly well & every side we play seems to play better football than us. And that’s been the case for quite some time, even before Jones. Charlton always used to play attractive football, even under Curbs but in recent years that’s been few & far between no matter who the manager is & what players are signed. Most fans will accept unattractive football if it brings results but we play crap football & are not winning now. I hope Jones can turn it around because I I’ve always believed you judge a manager after a decent run of games. That can even mean after a couple of seasons, but unfortunately you don’t get that time these days. Plus I think after what we’ve had to tolerate over the last 10 years or so or patience threshold is very thin , meaning as soon as we lose a few games fans understandably get frustrated. I don’t see us as a quick fix , far from it but things do need to show improvement otherwise I can see things unraveling very quickly for Jones. Let’s see if there is any reaction against Birmingham because there needs to be for Jones sake !6

Birmingham fans will be looking at Alfie thinking 750k ! Wow, what a snip, why on earth did they let him go.
Wrexham fans will be looking at Dobbo thinking, what a player, and for free!
Charlton fans are looking at Ahadme, and others, thinking WTF!

We are stacking up the yellow cards which will soon force further changes if we're not careful.2

That felt like Appleton, and considering the players available that makes Jones look even worse.Honestly the football is fucking non-league standard at the moment and we as fans shouldn’t accept it.No style, no plan, no tactics nor clue.
Absolutely sick of it.28 -

Fair play to him for holding his hands up and taking the blame... But... Is that the second or third time he has done that (defo v Blackpool, did he also do it v Stevenage?). He can't keep simply saying he picked the wrong players and wrong tactics.
I hope he can turn it around, gawd we need the stability. More than the results though, the lack of any quality play and tactics (simply hoof it forward and run after it) is what worries me.
All seems very dated football and incredibly limited. The modern football world is way beyond this type of tactic surely.1 -
Played golf this afternoon...beautiful day on Cape Cod.....turned on my phone and saw were 3-0 down and turned it off....usually watch all the games on Charlton TV....NJ is not the manager to take us forward...always said the right person is under our noses with Curbs.....so what he is 65 + bring in a younger coach ie Pearce to work with him.....0

Don't let the scoreline or the goals fool you, we were awful. If anything, it underlines how shit we were that we couldn't get at Rovers.
There are a lot of problems right now. I need to get back to work, and then need to eat lunch, and then go to bed, and then go to work so I don't have time to outline all of them over the next 16 hours. But a lot is broken.
I'm not Jones Out yet, just because I don't think there's a significantly better manager willing to come in and take over. But Jones is definitely on the hot seat. We've taken four points from six games, and the game we won in that stretch was against a poor side where we were poor.
Saturday is going to be very interesting. It's his job to change things, not just the team, not just the formation, but the preparation and style of play. Does he have that in him? I'm just not sure.0 -
The only thing that has made me laugh this evening, having gone to be early at 1-0 is that i am now getting pop-up ads for hospitality packages to watch man utd. Possibly one of the more expensive ways to have as bad a time watching football as watching charlton.0
