I'd have swapped him for his own Panini sticker last season, such was his form, but he is now starting to be a crucial player. He doesn't get it all right, but he is doing the hard yards, and a lot goes through him.
If that's his job for NJ fine, I shouldn't criticise him for what he didn't do.

The west stand crowd were moaning about the team playing backwards too much & NJ turned round & gave it back to them. It’s pretty clear how NJ is setting us up to play, it’s not going to be pretty, it doesn’t need to be, we’ll be stronger fitter and faster than our opponents, we’ll get in their faces and grind them down.Orient were blowing out their arses and we looked like we’d just warmed up, the system doesn’t require a creative midfielder dictating play, anyone still expecting one is going to be very disappointed.14 -

let’s let’s face it, if we hadn’t scored in additional time Jones and the team would be getting pelters for 1 goal in 3 games15

GeoffB said:Great start to season. But will we score enough goals.Last season we scored 64 but we had a 20 + striker. The play off teams last season scored between 79 and 86 goals. Can we score another 15 goals without May. I am doubtful. Yes we will concede fewer looking at first 2 games but our strike force looks tame. Aneke is popular with supporters but the fact is that ( yes I know he has had injuries ) he has scored 11 goals in last 3 seasons. We cannot win every game 1 -0 . Strikers have to step up to the plate .
Wigan conceded the second fewest goals at home last season. And Orient conceded the third fewest goals away from home last season. I am willing to give the new attack and midfield time to find their feet, especially against less stingy oppositions. We ground both teams down and forced six points from two games that we might’ve lost last season under Holden or Apples.15 -

Fan zone thing wasn’t too bad. Only soft drinks today, but beer available next week. 13 yr old looking dj was decent. The crowd was bigger than I expected bearing in mind Sky and the tunnel closure. Long queues at the ticket office though.15

PWR. Have a season ticket for the first time in a good few years and got my boys ones too. They got picked out to do the honour guard before the game as part of their Junior Addicks memberships so already a memorable day for them.
First half wasn't memorable but much better second half from us. Orient tried to mix it with us physically and they weren't up to it. Can't remember the last time I've thought that. Glad they got nothing from the game with all of their antics.
Thought the defence were all excellent. Jones looks like a new signing and Ramsay was superb at both ends of the pitch. Small also did really well getting forward but sadly let down by some poor crossing. Coventry have a great game too.
Certainly don't look like we're a team that will be bullied which is a big change from previous seasons. Won't always be pretty but I'll take an atmosphere like that all day long.16 - Sponsored links:

Didn't realise how involved Coventry was in the goal until rewatching it. Great to see him reading the header off Chuks and getting to it first. I imagine he would have swung his left at it if Berry hadn't arrived when he did

I've changed my position, I'd take another 44.
We were the better team without creating many clear cut chances against a horrible time wasting, shirt pulling, playing for a draw from minute one Orient.
But in the end we took the best chance we had and then did what good teams do ie kill the game, take it to the corner and see the game out. How did your own medicine taste, Leyton?
No outstanding performances but L Jones and Mitchell impressive, Small and Ramsay bombed forward, TC ran them ragged, Mannion not really tested but claimed some corners well.
Set pieces and corners still not troubling the opposition enough but it's early days.
The Edwards injury the only downer in what was otherwise an excellent home start.
Met two of the US owners pre-game, two guys who seem very committed to the project."The Valley is bigger than in the pictures" ?

The owners celebrating with MOM Berry. They thoroughly enjoyed the win, thanked everyone for their support. They understand there will be ups and downs in the short term but what they are focused on is the long term, all sounds very promising.72

I’m not going to go over the top after 2 matches, but I do hope that after last season, and bringing in 6, yes 6 defenders in, in the last 2 transfer windows, that we do start to look a lot more solid than we have done.
Absolutely delighted to get a win today, but absolutely gutted to lose Josh Edwards to injury, he’s looked such a promising player, and we will miss him being out of the side, but now Thierry has the chance to step up and stake his claim ( thought he was excellent when he came on).
Next Saturday will be a test, a big test, of how far we’ve come, we have been rolled over, bullied, and played off the park against Bolton previously ,so will have to be absolutely on it, to get a win, next weekend.
A word of caution, we got 11 wins last season (poor I know) 2 of those wins were against Wigan & Leyton Orient, beating the teams that you’d expect to be up there will be a mark of progress.
Hopefully the owners will have a word with Nathan, and ask him what does he need in order to make us even better than we are, player wise.
With 5 clean sheets recorded for the whole of last season, I’m just enjoying keeping clean sheets this season, long may it continue!7 -

Said as ever when taking over a business you find things you didn't know about that have to be sorted out but it was expected and they dealt with them. They didn't specify.
Friedman and Rosenfeld are brothers in law, which I didn't know.
Four of their sons were also there so hopefully the next generation are getting the bug too (the Micheals to Albert and Stanley perhaps if that isn't a damning comparison)
Nothing else I can share, no transfer gossip but they see the need for stability and long termism. They may have started out as investors but now see themselves as fans.
Very friendly and personable guys.

Just got home and am delighted we won.
Similar performance to last week's game at Wigan.
Looking like a nil nil draw and then score a late winner.
This may not be the most entertaining way of playing but I would much prefer to see us win a boring match one nil than see us lose an entertaining game 4 .3.
We are only a couple of player's short of having a real good go at promotion.
Hopefully that will be addressed this week.
Keep the faith people this could be our season.11 -
No one has mentioned Chucks appearing to be dragged to the floor at the far post. Was it a penalty?
I thought Ahadme and Campbell played well. They were always available and clearances stuck up there which is so important.
They refused to give their defence a minutes peace and softened them up for the finishers to come on.
Hit the crossbar, poss Penalty and a very good goal, v their two shots on target.
Great result and well deserved.

4th in the league after two games and two clean sheets, that'll do nicely, and as for 1-0 wins, the more the merrier...roll on Bolton next Saturday...3

Not much to say apart Conor Coventry was MOM by a country mile. Wasn’t his biggest fan before but he has swayed my mind today!
I love how difficult we are to play against. Got to admire what NJ has brought into this squad! It’s clear to see!10 -
Abandoned Sky and bought the stream on CaFCTV. Stream was stuttering BUT kept constant on the lead up to and scoring of our winning goal by some minor miracle.
A battling but scruffy performance turned on its head by three factors:
1) Our defence is bloody minded determined for the first time in years
2) Our fitness levels are giving us an edge in the last 10 to 15 mins of games when this was a previous Achilles heal
3) Just when you have been run into the ground by Campbell and Ahadme we now have strength and depth up front, welcome to the stage Chuks and Godden.A very encouraging, nothing more, start to the season. We will grind our way to a decent position this season.9 -
