Ahadme softened them up with his running and work, Aneke is a finisher in the world of 5 subs, works well

Said after Wigan I'd take another 45 1 - 0 wins.
I've changed my position, I'd take another 44.
We were the better team without creating many clear cut chances against a horrible time wasting, shirt pulling, playing for a draw from minute one Orient.
But in the end we took the best chance we had and then did what good teams do ie kill the game, take it to the corner and see the game out. How did your own medicine taste, Leyton?
No outstanding performances but L Jones and Mitchell impressive, Small and Ramsay bombed forward, TC ran them ragged, Mannion not really tested but claimed some corners well.
Set pieces and corners still not troubling the opposition enough but it's early days.
The Edwards injury the only downer in what was otherwise an excellent home start.
Met two of the US owners pre-game, two guys who seem very committed to the project.71 -
Jones said in his interview that ‘winning football games is difficult, it’s tough, as this football club has found out for a long time’
This sums it up to me. If we keep winning games I don’t think anyone will care how we’re playing ultimately. It had been said on here plenty in previous seasons ‘Just win games’ and long may this continue.Praying Edwards is ok as it looked really bad. Hopefully we’ll add a player or two this week and we fly into a very difficult game next weekend.8 -
A few random thoughts.
Few teams if any are going to out-muscle us this year. And defensively we look much more secure.
Early days yet but I was very impressed with Mannion today. Don't think signing a new keeper is anywhere near as vital as some think.
Going to reserve judgment on Ahadme until he plays with a different partner to Campbell. Can only hope there is more to his game than we can currently see.
Just hope that injuries don't de-rail our promotion push. Horrible feeling we won't see Edwards for some time. And, after seeing the replay, that was a clear red for Clare.
And finally won't be popular with some but I was thinking if we could play Alfie May in front of today's keeper, defence and midfield that would be a team that is comfortable top 6. But I know move on, move on .....6 -
From NJ interview with Charlotte Richardson it sounds as if Edwards injury isn't as bad as first feared, fingers crossed that's the case.13

Not complaining. It was leagueonetastic.1 -
What a game at Ashton Gate.5

Good to get the win. The last 20 minutes were quite exhilarating, even if the rest was a bit dour. Certainly can't complain about the effort.
At the back we looked well organised, disciplined, and crucially, calm. This is a huge improvement on last season. In the middle we put in a lot of effort to ensure that we were in control of ball and game. Up front we created several chances, although for a lot of the game we did look like a team that had sold their best striker and whose most promising rising star is almost permanently crocked. Well done to Berry for coming up with the goods in the end though.
One area where we need to improve is corners. We had four long corners in the second half; one failed to make the distance, one hit the side netting, one dropped perfectly into the keeper's hands and one seemed to be laser guided onto a defender's head. Zero goal threats from four corners is not good enough. I'm not sure whether we have a specialist set-pieces coach, but it looks like we could do with one.
As for the ref, he had a shocker. I think he was trying to let the game flow, after all, no one wants to seem the game stopped for every minor infringement. The trouble is, if a fair-minded, corinthian-spirited team of good guys is up against a team of dirty northern grapple fans, such a refereeing strategy simply benefits the bad boys. And Claire's foul on Edwards was appalling. He really should have gone for that.

After 2 games, we look a fair side which lacks goals. We have nicked 2 wins on the back of decent defensive work.Tyreece is no striker, not enough bulk.We can’t take a corner or a free kick, despite months to practice.I’m not getting excited yet.1

The west stand crowd were moaning about the team playing backwards too much & NJ turned round & gave it back to them.10 -

Loved Small geeing up us oldies in the Lower West towards the end of the 2nd half. Seems to be enjoying it here.5

Amazing after two games, only three teams with a clean sheet.0

This team is better rounded then last season.
In terms of scoring goals give it time. Lets allow a little longer for partnerships up top to develop. You can see what Jones is trying to do, It might not be pretty at times but who honestly cares, if it gets us out of League One I am all for it.
From what I have seen from the first two games Mannion is good enough to be our number 1
What we really need is another midfielder that Jones trusts.
I personally do not like that we did not freshen up the midfield at all today.
Berry took his goal well, two clean sheets and two wins
That will do.3 -
Nobody has yet said "clean sheet win, clean sheet win"🎶
Clearly saandgard just didn't find the right manager2 -
The Prince-e-Paul said:Note: Most improved player award has got to go to Coventry.
I'd have swapped him for his own Panini sticker last season, such was his form, but he is now starting to be a crucial player. He doesn't get it all right, but he is doing the hard yards, and a lot goes through him.
If that's his job for NJ fine, I shouldn't criticise him for what he didn't do.2 -

But will always be happy when luck on our side.
As a game it was tedious, we had no creativity in midfield.TC frightend the Orient defence with pace but has no shot on him
Ahamanade just.seem slow to every thing. He cannot winthe ball or hold it up.
The difference in the second half was Chuck Aneke and his physicality..
Small and Ramsy are terrible at crossing into the box,the corners today were poor.
Just glad the defending is capable last minutes blocks and tackles.3 -
Great start to season. But will we score enough goals.Last season we scored 64 but we had a 20 + striker. The play off teams last season scored between 79 and 86 goals. Can we score another 15 goals without May. I am doubtful. Yes we will concede fewer looking at first 2 games but our strike force looks tame. Aneke is popular with supporters but the fact is that ( yes I know he has had injuries ) he has scored 11 goals in last 3 seasons. We cannot win every game 1 -0 . Strikers have to step up to the plate .0
