Charlton Summer Transfer Rumours 2024

Was a question not a moan, need to be out of the blocks super quick to bring on board the right players. We have history of fishing about at the end of the window which time after time we all know has not gone that well.ShootersHillGuru said:
Window doesn’t open for another month. Bit early to start moaning even for us.red10 said:So when are our multi billionaire owners going to dip a toe in the transfer market?. No point owning it if not willing to push on. Clearly don't need to advertise funds available and be a bit clever in our dealings but we do need to be putting a squad together for pre season to get out of this poxy league for all our sakes.

The problem is a lot of the better players available will wait to see if they can get Championship gigs before signing for League 1.red10 said:

Left back options should Thierry Small actually leave:
- Mackenzie Hunt (Everton)
- Tom Pearce (unattached, released by Wigan)
- Josh Edwards (Dunfermline)0 -
This is getting silly now. I hope someone at the club has a word with Small. Not sure what went wrong before (but potentially his head was turned by a bigger club) but I now have a funny feeling even the Madrid talk when at Everton could of very well been his agent pushing for a move or a new contract.Callumcafc said:https://the72.co.uk/2024/05/14/charlton-athletic-thierry-small-replacements-transfer/

I could be wrong and it’s Small wanting to move too but this seems too much being pushed out by the media and hopefully someone at the club could put an arm around him and discuss these antics by the agent…
Let him focus for a year and then see where it takes him4 -
3k a week or 33k a week, money talks with players.Red_Chester said:

It’s a pointless date. We can sign a player now but can’t play them until the window opens. But, we have no games until augustKiwiValley said:Forgive my ignorance if i got this wrong...but do we have to wait a month to start hearing about incomings? I don't remember this gap last year. 'Ef all happening on here at the moment....2 -
Tom Pearce would be ok but I’m worried we might also end up with Bill Brewer, Jan Stewer, Peter Gurney, Peter Davy, Daniel, Whiddon, Harry Hawke as well. And as for Tom Cobbly, his legs have gone.Red_Chester said:

If I remember correctly, Mendonca was an example of an early summer signing because he wanted his future settled before him and his family went on their summer holidays.eastterrace6168 said:Wheresmeticket said:

https://londonnewsonline.co.uk/sport/millwall-defenders-future-set-to-come-under-the-spotlight/Doesn’t sound like Harris is desperate to keep him. They’ve already had a bid accepted for another centre back from Spurs. Big part of Lincoln’s defensive record last season. Loved at most clubs he’s been at. Young and will continue to grow and improve. We already have his brother at the club. Can’t think of a reason to not try bringing him in.7

Given the season hasn't even finished fully yet I doubt we will hear anything concrete for the next couple of weeks.
The priority for me would be getting the back line sorted inc goalkeeper before the preseason tour. Would be nice if they didn't look like a bunch of strangers on opening day.

But how can they do that, the window isn’t open yet?Callumcafc said:https://londonnewsonline.co.uk/sport/millwall-defenders-future-set-to-come-under-the-spotlight/Doesn’t sound like Harris is desperate to keep him. Amazing how this comes up every year despite it being irrelevant.2 -
Surely the wrong Mitchell, Billy Mitchell is the brother of our Zach MitchellCallumcafc said:https://londonnewsonline.co.uk/sport/millwall-defenders-future-set-to-come-under-the-spotlight/Doesn’t sound like Harris is desperate to keep him. Are they not all brothers? I thought Billy, Alex and Zach were all brothers. My mistake if not.Sark99 said:

What...that doesn't stop the chance of him being sold, everyone has their price, the one solid hope we have is Nathan getting him to sign an extension, nothing to do with "lazy journalism" as you so quaintly put it!!RonnieMoore said:

That might well be true but if the club are convinced that he won’t sign an extension beyond the one year deal then it would be good business to sell him for as much as possible as long as that sale included a season loan. That all supposes that he’ll be off for nothing in one year which I suspect is his preferred option.RonnieMoore said:

Small extra season contract triggered.5

So who got the small contract then...🙄ross1 said:Small extra season contract triggered.1 -
Triggered to get a fee from Derby/Spurs/Real Madrid or while negotiations continue on longer term deal?0
-
Dobson got offered a small contract, hence him signing a non binding, pre contract, which allows him to play for us next seasoneastterrace6168 said:
