Hendos back as temp GK coach
He will probably be injured tomorrow
  • Covid was not the reason Taylor refused to play. Greed was
He would not have just refused to play if not for that break.
  • I hadn't realised Hendo had retired, though with his injury record, not a surprise.
  • I was thinking earlier something similar but a more left field. That Holden was brought in TO be sacked at some point early on. His 3 year contract might just be bollox & there is no pay off required. Just so they can now recruit from within & reduce costs.

But your conspiracy theory is better. He gets a big pay off that they all share.

How cynical are we as a fan base that we would even think this.
Years of abuse as fans has left us scarred for life!

And here we go again. 3 terrible ownerships in a row prior to this one, and yet anyone who initially dared put their head above the water and point out they are no good were shut down. And then over a long period of time they were shown to be really terrible

This new ownership have in some cases a terrible reputation at other clubs, and now having dicked around in the window, have decided to sack THEIR manager before the end of August.

If you disagree with people not liking this ownership that is your right, but is it so much to ask that supporters are allowed to voice their opinions without fear of being shut down?
It's not about opinions, it is the never ending repetition from the same posters that makes people want to claw their eyes out.

Fair enough. I thought you were agreeing that Duchatelet wants us out when he's already passed up opportunities to do that by agreeing to lease with three new owners since he left.
Well let's hope they step up get the right man in & give us something to believe in

    It WONT be Lee Johnson
Did he turn us down ?
  • Darren Furguson turned us down already!
  • It didn't take Ipswich 3 windows to get it right, it took the right manager.

Cook made a complete Horlicks of making a team out of the squad purchased, McKenna instantly transformed their fortunes even before the January window. When they stuffed us on the last day of the 21/22 season, they already had a promotion ready team.
"Swiss Ramble"- financial expert did a recent analysis of Ipswich for the financial year BEFORE promotion- from memory their spend on wages was £13+million in year ending 21, with loss of £5-6 mill, this increased in 22 to £16m wages with a bigger overall loss of £13mill.
Point is they were spending very very heavily fr L1

Who have we actually signed that's a 3-5-2 specialist?  May needs a partner but that's not necessarily the same thing.

The full back, and the one we have almost signed, are both "attacking full backs" as opposed to specialist wing backs.
May needs a partner so 3-5-2 probably makes the most sense unless we we are prepared to give up a lot of possession and not control games as we will only have 2 in midfield.

Plus Camara and Fraser have both played the best football of their careers in 3-5-2 set ups. Dabo and Edun have both played most of their careers as wing backs rather than full back at Coventry and Lincoln.

I think it is probably the best way to set us up, but I’m not sure why Holden stopped using Thomas at LCB when he’s the only play we have that can really play there. Should have been a priority signing this summer, maybe Holden wanted one but like with the striker he hasn’t got what he wanted
  • Covid was not the reason Taylor refused to play. Greed was
Id call it security for his family after being fucked about with contracts by Southall and hung out to dry
  • Covid was not the reason Taylor refused to play. Greed was
14 injured players for 4-6 weeks over Xmas was the most damaging reason, others more trivial.
  • Hearing we've approached Arsenal for Arteta
Wouldn’t have him, bottling the league like that. With all the money we have, we should be after Eddie Howe, only him and Pep have proven they can manage where money is no object.
  • Ferguson has never left Posh of his own accord.

    He's been sacked every time
I said we shouldn't sign JCH, we should sign the striker Peterborough sign to replace him before they do.  There for there is only one man for the job.

    Welcome Grant McCann.

Do you honestly expect that was anything other than Dean playing the party line?

Let me tell you 100%, there is not one single football manager that ever wants themselves to be short of options and needing to play kids that might not be ready yet more than sparingly.
Yes said that a few weeks back, difference is I received 7 likes to your 53  :o (Charlton) Life can be so unfair at times  :(  :D

DH has gone on record saying he wanted to trim the squad down to a more manageable number. I wonder if now he has witnessed our injury curse he has changed his mind
& if you believe that.................? What manager wouldn't want to increase his squad ? It wouldn't surprise me if he's been told that he can't sign anymore players until he's got rid of those he doesn't want. He's got two youngsters on the bench who shouldn't be anywhere near the first team squad, they should be out on loan. He's got two players on the bench who shouldn't be anywhere near our club. We sign players who aren't fit to play. What about our targets that supposedly are taking time but it's better to wait for them than to chase our second in line targets. What happens if our first choice targets fall through or even if we do finally sign them how long before they are ready to play. Top 6 my arse, this time next year we'll be having the same conversations just like last year :-(

Hearing we've approached Arsenal for Arteta

Managing Charlton on the budget currently set have would be a proper test of Arteta's managerial ability.

I guarantee this forum will go into meltdown on Friday. It’s going to get very messy. Apologies to BigDiddy who is on the money.
  • Just had a thought that's a bit left field.
Could it be a way of extracting money from the club? Holden was the Methven group's choice of manager and were probably instrumental in him being handed a 3 year deal, which will now have to be paid up.
As I said at the start, just a thought.
So, what you're thinking is, sack Holden, then split the momey between them all?

Hmm, I doubt that. His contract would've had to have been worth a fair chunk to make that worthwhile. I doubt Dean Holden is corrupt, & would prefer having a job, & not another sacking on his CV.
