FA Cup 22/23 Thread - Round 3 draw: is no longer relevant to us :(

In what might be an FA Cup first, a goalkeeper was sent off for "urinating in a hedge" during a match.

The keeper in question is Connor Maseko of Hampshire side Blackfield & Langley FC, who play in the ninth-tier Wessex League.

The incident occurred in the 76th minute of their 0-0 draw with Somerset side Shepton Mallet FC in Saturday's FA Cup first qualifying round tie.

"The ball went out for a goal kick," Blackfield & Langley FC co-manager Conor McCarthy told BBC Sport.

"He needed to go to the toilet so he went up against a hedge and their players started shouting saying 'what's he doing?' to the ref. The ref went up to him and decided to send him off.

"He (Maseko) protected himself. He was inside the hedge. Sometimes when you have to go you have to go.

  • Great result for Beckenham yesterday... Won 2-1 @ Dartford

Dartford did end the game with nine men, after one got injured, then one got sent off at the death

But was 1-1 before they went down to ten.

Beckenham Town are having a great season, shock cup win and top of the league. I'm considering dropping Charlton this season and following them instead.

Welling got through to the 3rd Qualifying Round after a 3-0 replay win @ Fisher last night

Although now have a tough upcoming tie at fellow National League South side: Weymouth

There are currently seven sides left from Level 9 - One of Anstey Nomads or Shefford Town & Campton will be guaranteed a spot in the 4th and final Qualifying Round, whilst AFC Bury still have to face Lancaster City (L7) in a replay.

The other remaining sides from Level Nine are:
    • Congleton Town
    • Ashington
    • Romford
    • Helston Athletic

Based on current form would have thought Welling would be favourites. Currently Weymouth are bottom of the league with only 2 draws. Welling are in 5th with 4 wins from their last 5.

Weymouth 3-0 Welling was the Final Score, Azeez missed a penalty at the end.

There are at least Four teams from Level Nine into the draw for the Final Qualifying Round, which of course sees the introduction of the National League sides.

Anstey Nomads are the one team guaranteed to be in the draw for the next round winning 5-0 - The other three teams still with a chance of advancing to the next round are as follows - Romford (lost 5-0 @ home to Chelmsford) and Helston Athletic (lost 7-2 at Weston-Super-Mare) bow out of the competition.

Congleton Town drew 1-1 with AFC Flyde
Ashington drew 2-2 at Stocksbridge Park Steels
AFC Bury drew 1-1 at Clitheroe

Should also point out that there are three confirmed sides (Worksop Town | Beckenham Town | Sevenoaks Town) from Level Eight that are still left in the competition, with a further three teams that can still advance should they win their replays - Folkestone Invicta and Ebbsfleet Town round up the Kent sides still in the competition, along with Bromley who of course enter the competition at the next stage.
  • Ebbsfleet been drawn at home to Sevenoaks.

Beckenham Town at home to Dag & Red.
  • Anstey Nomads v Chesterfield
  • Anstey Nomads v Chesterfield
Brilliant tie. Level 9 at home vs Level 5 and one of the best teams in the draw.

    Other potential level 9 ties...

    Kidderminster [6] v Congleton Town [9] / AFC Fylde [6]

    King's Lynn Town [6] v Stocksbridge [8] / Ashington [9]

    Clitheroe [8] / Bury AFC [9] v York City [5]

    Merthyr Town [7] v Folkestone Invicta [7]

    Bromley [5] v Hereford [6]

    Ebbsfleet Town [6] v Sevenoaks [8]

    Beckenham Town [8] v Dagenham & Redbridge [5]

    Needham Market [7] v Maidstone Utd [5]
  • Dorking Wanderers v Eastleigh - a tough one.
  • Enjoyed Congleton/Fylde.... the latter played some nice attacking football.
  • Merthyr Town [7] v Folkestone Invicta [7]

    Bromley [5] v Hereford [6]

    Ebbsfleet Town [6] v Sevenoaks [8]

    Beckenham Town [8] v Dagenham & Redbridge [5]

    Needham Market [7] v Maidstone Utd [5]

what do the bold ones mean?
  • so there are 6 Kent clubs in this round, and any that get through to are in the hat with us? any of those would be a cracking draw, for them more than us but I wouldn't mind an away day down at folkestone!

The Kent clubs. I only found five but you said there’s six so I must’ve missed one.

Doh, it’s Sevenoaks. Will go back and bold them. :-)

Final Qualifying Round this weekend, meaning that we'll be entering at the next stage

Games being held over the 5th / 6th November - Draw will be held on Monday evening on BBC2 @ 7:15pm, so should be just in time to switch over to the Charlton game @ 8pm.

    We'll be Ball Number 11

  • Going to Hendon v Chippenham today. If we get more than 350 in attendance, it will be seen as a success! So if you are wandering around the streets of Kingsbury this afternoon with nothing to do....

Hope Hendon get a result. Welling due to play them (Chippenham) away on 5th November (Saturday)
This is the date of the First Round proper, which would turn this game into a Tuesday Night affair.
