The new influx of officers at work. Talking with a couple of them yesterday they revealed that they were born in 1998 and ‘97 respectively. I know another was also born in ‘98. My stepdaughter was born in ‘94. They’re kids and I wonder what they’re doing there.2

Was watching Life on Mars again the other day on Netflix, and I realised that a) I'm now older than John Simm was, and b) he went back 23 years and it was apparently very very different. Felt like he went back a few decades.
If I did that now it'd only be bloody 1998. Not sure I'd be that confused by different attitudes, strange quirks of living then etc?!
(I'd also make sure I was free on 25th May).4 -

My 6 year old grandaughter found my pot of 50 pence bits - all with unusual tail sides. She made noises as to whether she should look after them. I told her that when she and her 6 year old cousin are teenagers they could share them out.
(Little pause)
"Grandad, ... will you still be alive when we're teenagers?".6 -

There's a fixed hierarchy as to how the age of footballing people affects you. If you're still comparing yourself to players, you're fine. When you've worked your way through players, referees, managers then owners, that's when you know you're ready for a high backed armchair and an NHS chiropodist.cafctom said:Players who are my age retiring from the game in their mid 30s, when it feels like they only started playing it yesterday.Makes it hit home how short a player’s career really feels like.7 -

Knowing what a gestetner machine smelt like …6

Must admit I had to Google this - realised I knew what it was - but didn't recognise the name. Then in a blinding flash it came to me, our office in 1970 called it a Banda machine.KiwiValley said:Knowing what a gestetner machine smelt like …
