Bannon won’t stay. He’s probably the best midfielder in league one . It’s just a shame he’ll be playing on Saturday.2
-
Mid table team doesn’t mean a team is guaranteed to finish 12th. I mean the individual players within the team are mid table Championship players.Bedsaddick said:
They wouldn’t have been mid table though . They would have been 21st with the six points extraElliotCAFC said:
Because they had a points deduction which put them into the relegation zone. Without that, they’d have been safe.Todds_right_hook said:
If they have a mid table championship team, why did they get relegated from the championship?ElliotCAFC said:
I’ll be amazed if they don’t smash this league. They’ve got a mid table championship teamCallumcafc said:Lee Gregory on his way to Chef Wendy.Barnsley had a mid table team but good management saw them finish 5th, Bournemouth had a very talented squad but poor management saw them finish 6th.1 -
Struggling to see how we even make the playoffs compared to some of these squads I'm seeing, woefully short in every position bar CM and RB.4

We have a Wednesday preview thread but we're discussing the Wednesday team in the Rumours thread.
Classic Rumours thread!6 -
My brother has just admitted he made it up. Almost believable though.Henry Irving said:Bridge is 6' 1" and from Hackney
Played on FA cup game v Liverpool at 21 years of age.
Transfer market suggests he can player on either side as a CB and at LB.
And he has dreads so @shine166 will be happy
Seems the right age for a loan to get some game time.
No idea if this is true or a wind-up but it's a rumour5 -
Don’t worry, tomorrow we’ll return to discussing the important subjects of BBQs and Lyle Taylor.Chunes said:We have Wednesday preview thread but instead we're discussing the Wednesday team in the Rumours thread.

I don’t know about air, but I’ve awful wind today!!, usually means were gonna sign someone👍.0

Safe to say there is no new signing in the squad for Saturday then, not sure what the deadline is but doesn’t sound like anything close at all just a couple of Twitter rumours.Short term worry is the MK dons game which is midweek, surely Innis is not gonna do Saturday/Tuesday already, as well as maybe Washington and any others who pick up knocks.0

but they did get points deducted and they assembled a squad through cheating. They deserve to be in league 11 -

Well we certainly underachieved last season.Cafc43v3r said:
You could have said last season the majority of our squad had played a significant part of their careers in the championship or higher.... Would you say they were all championship quality?ElliotCAFC said:
I’ve only included the players that have spent a significant part of their career in the Championship, so I’m not sure who you would say isn’t Championship quality.Cafc43v3r said:
I disagree about some of them but either way assuming all of them will still be there when the window shuts is a big assumption. Wouldn't surprise me if some are going by Saturday.ElliotCAFC said:
Without a points deduction they’d still be in the Championship. These players are Championship quality:Cafc43v3r said:
They really haven't.ElliotCAFC said:

GK: Bailey Peacock-FarrellFB’s: Jack Hunt, Liam PalmerCB’s: Dominic Iorfa, Sam Hutchinson, Chey DunkleyMidfield: Barry Bannan, George Byers, Massimo Luongo, Lewis Wing, Dennis Adeniran, Marvin JohnsonStrikers: Callum Paterson, Josh Windass
That’s not including Lee Gregory or any others they sign. There’s also fringe players like Andre Green, Shodipo, Dele-Bashiru and Alex Hunt.I thought they’d go too, but they’re on such high wages it seems they’ll only get that sort of money at Sheffield Wednesday. Barry Bannan has already said he’s not leaving, so I wouldn’t bank on their team drastically changing.I recall our Championship experienced players being in their 30’s and seeing out their career. Pearce, Watson, Pratley and Gunter were in different stages of their careers than say Josh Windass, Iorfa, Luongo, Byers, Dunkley or Paterson. Barry Bannan’s 31 but he’s still a top player.Adam Matthews and Ben Amos weren’t seeing out their careers, but I’d say they’re good enough to play in the Championship.0 -
Sheff Wed squad will look diff come end of Aug.. they have to cut their wage bill as the have a points deduction hanging over them if they break the rules again0

They've already cut it enough. Comment from a Wednesday fan "Rhodes was 35k a week, Reach was 24k a week, Tom Lees 20k a week, Borner 18k, Izzy brown 20k, a week etc..."RonnieMoore said:Sheff Wed squad will look diff come end of Aug.. they have to cut their wage bill as the have a points deduction hanging over them if they break the rules again
Crazy money, releasing Rhodes would probably cover most of our squad

MK Dons is the week after next, so still a bit of time to get some bodies in before then.BR7_addick said:Safe to say there is no new signing in the squad for Saturday then, not sure what the deadline is but doesn’t sound like anything close at all just a couple of Twitter rumours.Short term worry is the MK dons game which is midweek, surely Innis is not gonna do Saturday/Tuesday already, as well as maybe Washington and any others who pick up knocks.0 -
I guess our ambition in the transfer windows now has dropped to "just getting bodies" by opening day. Aiming high, we are.Croydon said:

MuttleyCAFC said:I'd like us to try to get Baah on loan from Watford. He is at an age where he has to play games and it is surely unlikely he will feature in the Premier League, although not impossible. If Watford decide it is a bit early for him, we ought to be there ready.
Interesting call Muttley.
Baah was let go by Palace at 14, he wasn't dedicated enough by his own admission, and his main claim to fame up to that point was when he was a ball boy at Palace he ran on the pitch and placed the ball for Adrian to take a goal kick for West ham as he was wasting time.
He entered the kinetic foundation where he played football and went to school. As he was a big lad (6ft now) he played a 1st team game for Whyteleafe at 15( I was at a Cafc game otherwise I would have sent an email to Steve Avory !)
When he scored his first goal for Rochdale, (he signed for them when he was 16 after a trial) against Wimbledon I believe, I was made aware of his talents by one of the coaches at kinetic and Whyteleafe who said he's an erratic player but is like a younger raw version of Michail Antonio. I said I hope not, as the last time I saw MA play at the Valley he left Harriot and Wilson for dead when he cut in from the left and scored with his right with a power shot.
When Baah took advantage twice of our defending( didn't we play 3 at the back with Smyth as a wing back ?) and hit rockets that Amos lost sight off from the same position I realized that you must do your home work with opposition players. I honestly don't think the information had worked it way to Bowyer or the coaches.
In the second half Baah was ineffective but he had scored his brace and the Man city Scouts were watching.( Whyteleafe and Kinetic coach had recently left to take a coaching job with City) The deal broke down, but he still got a move to Watford.
Watford paid Rochdale who then payed a development fee to the kinetic foundation.
I know guys in football who know him well but if he goes on loan it will be to the Championship. I will try to find out because he would be a great asset to Cafc for one season and his family and friends live in South London. He can play on either side.
Unfortunately lots of good young talent are going higher than Cafc now including 17 year old Courtney Clarke who signed for Derby County 6 months ago. CC is a midfield player.
Getting promotion and getting Cat A status is so important for Cafc. Hopefully not owning Sparrows lane won't be a stumbling block.6 -

Is he confirming he is?
Also when did we let Gomes go?
It means ignore / don't reply if you're coming to Charlton. A highly sophisticated technique to extract information I must say.
God , I hate things like ," back in the day". Which fucking day ? The can't be arsed to explain brigade or the Kathy Burke, 'know what I mean' mob.3 -

The latest I heard was ‘my slime’. Which is what you call your mate/pal/chum/buddy. Although only to be used with caution. 😂Oggy Red said:

Bloody Hell, Nixon should have his own tv show with Russell Grant, Mystic Meg and the late Derek Accora.chev said:
Nixon “there may be some players in, but there could also be players leaving”
Mystic Meg “the lottery numbers will be any 7 from 1 to 59”
Russell Grant “Love will come for you, but it might not, be prepared for either scenario”
Derek “I’m seeing someone that used to live here, once a upon a time”
I believe Derek Accora died from unforeseen circumstances.
Mystic Meg often performs with a feather down her knickers and is a happy medium.
Nixon has the ability to make players disappear.
Russel Grant who loves his non League football often make correct predictions when Neptune is close to Uranus.0 -
Who's the air apparent, then?

...so to summarise today
Nixon saying "something in Kirk" on twitter
@Swisdom confirming 'I believe we have put a bid in'
@TheAddicks4Ever has heard from a man in the pub we are interested in Mungo Bridge, Loan from Aston Villa.

Charlton are going to rely on their younger players because that is the argument to make the better kids sign for Cafc in the first place. If they don't see a route through to the first team we will lose out on even more talented youngsters. Catch 22 for Cafc as we need the journey men players as well and the 21-24 age group who may be next Vardy, Holt or Lambert,(Ajose normally)
So difficult for Steve Gallen1 -
In the last 30 years you can probably count on one hand the number of kids that have had to leave Charlton because they didn't get a chance. Some left because they weren't good enough for where we are and we passed them on the way down.soapboxsam said:Charlton are going to rely on their younger players because that is the argument to make the better kids sign for Cafc in the first place. I think that's a ridiculous argument to not sign players, if it's true, or you think it's true.4
