I have turned the cricket on twice this morning (kids are hogging the TV). On both occasions the ball being bowled resulted in a wicket. Leaving the remote well alone now

Root must be relieved after yesterday - he can keep picking his mate buttler for the next 18 months again.
  • And 7 down

The partnership between Pope and Buttler is looking even better now.

It was basically all with the old ball though, so a lot easier than facing the new ball with fresh bowlers
  • This is like watching the Leeds game again. 8 down. Under 300?

    Oh dear.

In the Caribbean it would be a Calypso Collapso. What is it in dreary Manchester...??

Yes.  Obviously.  But, a partnership of 140 in a score of 280-8 is a significant achievement.  Had they not knuckled down, we would have been bowling last night.

Stuart Broad right now (12:39pm) is second in the England Test batting averages in 2020 (scored at the highest strike rate).
  • West Indies bowling is all over the shop since Broad took them on.

Would’ve taken that after the toss yesterday, let’s hope the rain can hold off and jimmy and broad can get stuck in

StigThundercock: What is Captain Cretin doing catching that with both hands? Can't he understand you need to keep your hands off the ball if you want to preserve the shine?

A steady flow of wickets. Today clearly is perfect conditions for seam/swing bowling, which makes Broad's innings even more valuable

Broad Anderson archer and woakes/wood/stokes is quite the pace bowling attack

For a long time we've had a decent attack in English conditions

Put wood in for woakes and that’s a decent attack in any condition

Holder should bat 4 or 5 in this team. I keep saying it and it keeps being true

I'm at it again. No balls  !!

Last test I was saying how missing no balls could cost a team a match due to the extra runs not being added & then losing by the odd run.

Now its players overstepping, not being called & only checking when a wicket goes down. No idea if Woakes had over stepped previously, but if had, and been called (or at least been warned he was getting close) then he might have pulled it back a bit & Windies would be 7 down. They did say he hasn't bowled a no ball for xxx number of overs......probably has but its just that none took a wicket so they didnt check.

Argh. Does my head in. Seems some laws of the game of cricket don't count anymore.

Broad gets a 5 for.. .....Windies 9 down & 180 behind. Hopefully get a lead of 400 with an hour before close, put them in & get a couple of wickets before stumps

Weather tomorrow looks bad so will need all of the 5th day to get the rest out.

A mystery why it took so long to bring Broad on, seeing that he blew them away when he came on
