Well, Bowyer and the team seemed to think that supporting the team was was of considerable use to them.I don't recall them commenting on the use of 17,000 pages of gossip and conjecture on a Charlton forum...Airman Brown said:
Probably because many of us realise that just chanting “support the team” isn’t much use in the medium term unless the owner does so as well.AFKABartram said:Seems we are back to micro analysing details without anyone really knowing whether those details are the real issue or not.
Weve been in a similar round to this about 6 or 7 times over the last two years. I’ve absolutely no idea why some people wrap themselves up so much in it.
I think we can all agree the owner is of little use at all.3 -
I would appreciate an honest answer, because otherwise it might appear that you are also part of this smoke & mirrors ploy.JamesSeed said:

They are to be paid back IF that's IF we ever get to the Prem. Again IF we ever get there then the amount to be repaid is tiny against the revenue that the Prem brings in.
It's a lie by RD to DEFLECT from his own utter incompetent ownership and more so his totally unrealistic asking price.
At the moment I'm wondering if RD and the Aussies are just using you in their negotiations to spin their version of BOLLOX.
If the Aussies don't want to pay the loans ---then don't---fall back on the "Prem agreement". If it's a negotiating tool to get RD to lower the price by £5 million it ISN'T working.
Roland has raised the price.
Yet barely a week later you are giving this board the impression that GM is telling you the ins and outs?
Which is it please ?
(I'm not trying to be confrontational or aggressive. I'm just trying to understand whether you are being briefed by GM, when you have said you are not or whether you're making educated guesses).12 -
Keep up, CE; He's got another source who sometimes sends him info a few days before it appears on the OS.Covered End said:

Yes I know that thanks, but I wondered if there was more than that.Redskin said:

Mind you is the source GM ?0 -
I am sceptical about the Directors’ Loans issue holding up the sale, given the sums involved in the greater scheme of things.
I can understand any purchaser and their financiers wanting ‘clean title’, although what’s to stop Duchatelet doing a deal with the directors who are prepared to do so and then purchasing a contingency policy in respect of the others, naming them/their estates as beneficiaries ? Underwriters would probably want a reasonably chunky premium but it would achieve certainty for all concerned.
Through all the fog, however, everything points back to the conclusion that the delay is simply down to Duchatelet’s unrealistic price.2 -
But a price has been agreed !1

So we’re told - but has it ? If so, why are we still “stuck”, to adopt Roland’s terminology ?ShootersHillGuru said:But a price has been agreed !0 -
Yes, in L1 where Charlton will always be competitive because about two thirds of the division are perennial strugglers. In the Championship that won’t cut it for very long, as a series of small clubs have found out.Redskin said:

When questioning sources and veracity be mindful that the only one really in the know is Alan Turing, and he's dead.1

@Covered EndFair enough. I’ve had a couple of conversations in recent days. Limited for the usual reasons. Also received more info from the other source.Hopefully we’re getting closer to a resolution.21

I think you may need to clarify this, because it reads that there is no point Charlton fans supporting the team above L1.Airman Brown said:

You’re absolutely right @ShootersHillGuru. Indeed, in addition to posters on CL, I think LDT said at a recent Fans Forum Meeting that a price had a been agreed with two or three parties.ShootersHillGuru said:

The problem is that anyone can “agree” a price but it’s all subject to contract and non-binding unless and until the parties sign on the dotted line. The structuring of payments could be an issue - for example, with Duchatelet demanding further sums if we reach the Premier League or if the club receive contingent ‘add-ons’ for players we’ve sold. I haven’t a clue but I am very doubtful that the directors’ loans are the issue holding up the transaction, as Duchatelet would have us believe.2 -
No, it means that it won’t of itself enable the team to be successful. Some people seem to think that asking questions and exploring what is going on is somehow exclusive of or detracts from “supporting the team”. However as Redskin himself points out, Bowyer and the team are oblivious to this discussion.Covered End said:

You can, if you want, stick your fingers in your ears and join RD is his delusion that having the lowest budget in the division (according to Bowyer) doesn’t mean we can’t get promoted. You can ignore the fact that teams with Charlton’s likely budget usually go down. But shouting louder at matches still won’t be a solution.

Maybe, but a lot of that expenditure is down to gross incompetence on his part.Scoham said:
Profit? Hasn’t he spent £60-70m so far? Won’t get that when he sells.Harry Gregory said:Eh?
So the people (all Charlton Supporters) who loaned the business money and then were generous enough to let it float interest free for as long as takes are now expected to take a hit to give that cunt a profit! fuck him I would rather us relegated again then that odious twat make money out of our former directors.1 -
So,..... Is it okay to get excited yet , or is it too early ?
And ,should I put the bubbley back in the fridge today ,or leave it a while ?0 -
I'm unaware of anyone saying that discussing 'what is going on' detracts from supporting the team; I certainly wasn't.Airman Brown said:

N01R4M you are forgetting that RD is also putting a value on the land which ignores British planning laws. He thinks that building a hotel at St Truiden, by being a bigwig to the council, the same applies over here. The reality is the Valley will only ever be a football stadium unless CAFC voluntarily relocate.1

Why can't you support the team whilst wanting Roland out though? That doesn't mean you are supporting Roland, it means you are supporting the team.Airman Brown said:

If Bowyer and Co stay, despite being handed a low budget, should we not be rewarding that loyalty by showing some support?10 -
