The Takeover Thread - Duchatelet Finally Sells (Jan 2020)

What does Shay Given reckon?6

In Roland’s own statement when he asked the league to buy CAFC, he talked about the financial black hole that is The Championship. I suspect he sees the situation he is in and this will lead to a sale soon, because....
1. The best price he will ever get is right now
2. He knows that he will lose even more money per season in this division and has said so
3. If he pockets the extra turnover then we go down and he loses the higher valuation
I suspect he will suck it up and sell before the new 2019-20 season begins. It would be financial suicide not to. I think he is just barely not that dumb.5 -
Of course he’s dumb, how can he have reached such a grand age without realising the benefits of toothpaste?11

I remember Keith Harris telling me that promotion was not a factor in whether the Aussies bought us or not, so not sure if winning yesterday changes anything.
That said, I found it odd that the spectre of RDs ownership seemed to be forgotten/ignored when players and pundits talked about our prospects in the Championship. Particularly SCP going on about keeping the squad together, adding quality, bigger budgets etc. He knows full well that most of that is extremely unlikely under the Belgian loony

Olly and George weren’t aware that GM and AM were in the Royal Box, and I doubt they were keeping anything under their hat (s) as of half an hour after the match. But you never know ;-)Cafc43v3r said:Based on nothing other than a hunch, I think it's a done deal. Maybe even this week.
Bowyer said something that made me think it has been, as did the tone of some of the comms from the club. It sounds like a badly kept secret.

I’m very sceptical that any deal is close but you do have to wonder why AM and GM were present.2

I’m getting that end of February feeling from that...North Lower Neil said:

Just seen Rio Ferdinand talking to some bloke in a taxi.

If we don’t get sold now, we never will.
This needs to happen fast, with players out of contracts and loans going, our squad is decimated, we basically need a whole new midfield, 2 strikers and a left back, we need to start moving fast and if this takeover takes more than 2 weeks we’re buggered.2 -

When’s the next Leyland Van Druff meeting? They’re always really insightful...9

Well I saw an old mate who drives a black cab at Wembley, he didn’t mention Ferdinand but that must be due to a NDA. Think this must be it.blackpool72 said:Just seen Rio Ferdinand talking to some bloke in a taxi.

How the fuck would Dave Kitson know about our takeover when people on here with good connections to the club don't know.Scoham said:
The Secret Footballer is believed to be Dave Kitson.superchrissypowell said:The Sectet Footballer tweeted last night that a deal to sell Charlton has been done!
Kitson is a very "Secret Footballer" seeing as he hasn't been seen on the pitch for 5 years!2 -
It's imperative that from today, Duchatelet treats Cafc as a Championship club, and rewards the management team with new contracts while negotiations are ongoing.
If the Semi final sell out at the Valley and Sunday's orgasmic scenes when near on 40k Charlton diehards and fair weather fans celebrated like they won the Euro millions, didn't put our club in the shop window to be purchased by a wealthy individual or consortium from somewhere around the globe, then we are truly screwed.
No more bull shit, if in the next 7 days its not announced that Lee Bowyer and staff have accepted new deals then the implosion will continue.8 -
Sky may not have covered it but Colin Murray on quest with Darren Bent and Michael Brown certainly addressed the issue and said how crazy it was that the manager's position hadn't already been sorted so he could plan for next season.Taxi_Lad said:I remember Keith Harris telling me that promotion was not a factor in whether the Aussies bought us or not, so not sure if winning yesterday changes anything.

So many false so many false dawns. I will believe it when it happens. Really can't get excited about a takeover, with the loon in charge anything could happen.1

I remember when someone said the sale was imminent!1

Without the right contract offer within a week, I would advise the management team to leave at the end of June and not look back.1

As Sunday wears off the reality is until he sells nothing has really changed?5

No it was Orville, Keith's lips weren't moving!SuedeAdidas said:
