    More shots on goal 7-1

England's only shot on goal happened in the 5th minute. Ouch.

What about Kane's shot just before he hit the post? keeper saved it so surely it was a shot on goal?

7-2 makes me feel much better...
    Was offside anyway wasn't it?
nope - onside, flag went up when the ball span out of play.
Why wasn't a corner given then?
Because it was given as offside, even though Kane wasn't offside. And the flag went up VERY late as well. It was a mistake.
  • For me, England this tournament was the best ive seen. We may have had the easiest route, but this squad played with honour and as a unit, and with true pride in the badge which I havent seen in my lifetime and im very proud of our team for that. Well done lads.

    The post is off target.
but the shot 2 seconds before he hit the post was saved by the keeper?

I'm 30 so don't remember 1990 but agree with this.

Cos the ref wasn't nearly as good as people make out.
Yeah I thought he was poor and lost control of the match for stretches. I was worried he'd be used as an excuse to hide behind (and he still might be), which I think would be a mistake. How Lovren didn't get a booking in the opening 15 minutes or so is beyond me.

I can only assume because the ref / lino didn't see the keeper get the final touch

Don’t think anything could have been done differently and players and staff gave their all . Just came up short on quality in second half and didn’t take chances when on top . As a throw away thought I wonder whether we could have ditched one of the goal keeping positions or maybe Cahill or Jones to squeeze intonthe squad the best playmaker that exists in the English game : Shelvey . That would have been a real wild card decision on squad selection . He would not have started any match but might have been a go to option / Plan B . The game was crying out for a guy to make a defence splitting pass in that second half especially and if not then in extra time at least . Easy to be wise after the event but the only thing that Southgate might be asked about .

What about the other 2 corners he gave as goal kicks, the chump. And the throw in, we’d’ve Deffo scored from that throw in. Why I oughtta...

Yeah it did ricochet off the keeper mind you the linesman was blind as a bat.

I think it's because he was given offside.

I'm proud of our team. Shame we didn't get to the final, but no complaints. Looking forward to Euro 2020 now, as I think we're starting from a positive basis.

Yes he missed the ball going out for a corner in extra time.

They gave their all but were short of quality. Two shots on target is poor. No creativity in midfield is a real problem.

Irrelevant when we get a normal draw and have to play Germany or someone in the last 16

Just be proud for now, that starting eleven played heir hearts out a handful of them obviously carrying injuries and did all any of us can expect the national team to do, leave it all put there.

we've got another game to look forward to which is something and all of those players can go again

Stones is taking a lot of online criticism from neutrals for their second goal.

A fit and in form Wilshere would have been a good option from the bench. And a shame that Adam Lallana had a season full of injury setbacks.

Wasn't just him, both defenders were slow to react.

We were unlucky for sure . But Harry Kane in midfield ? Proud of the players during a good tournament , but we should have got to the final .

That hat trick Theo Walcott scored in qualifying against Croatia?

Kyle Walker taking one in the bollocks and springing up to head clear in the first half epitomised this.

Every goal stems from an error of some sort. Trippiers came from someone giving a foul away for example. If a team concedes a goal it’s a collective failing.

Sounds a bit too familiar doesn't it?
  • How did people react after 1990?

After all, the only team we beat in normal time in that tournament was Egypt.

Me I reacted quite badly was pissed off for days and then went to as many qualifiers as I could for 94 only to get into fights , get nicked , meet some great people meet some shite people

And then got graham taylored RIP

So it wasn’t a great 4 yrs recovery

Overall they gave us a great ride, but just came up short against a stronger, more experienced side. Good bunch of players, well led by Southgate. Onwards and upwards!
