Wilder and Knill might take the job - but not be interested per se in Charlton. The attraction could be becoming part of the RD payroll. They do a semi-decent job at Charlton (and that would mean merely mid-table or possibly play offs) and they then get offered work in the Belgian or Hungarian top flight (yeah......I know some of the sides there are League One level, but......they also get to play in the Europa League etc) or even the Spanish 2nd tier.

If I had the choice between a couple more years in Northampton vs a year in Budapest I know which one I'd go for.

If I was Chris Wilder, I'd tell Roland to stick their offer where the sun don't shine! I know Northampton were in a difficult situation and are a smaller club but they must be a better club to work under than us!

Could it be possible that the talks between Wilder and CAFC aren't actually with RD/KM, but with potential new owners?

It just seems so far removed from RD's previous history of appointing clueless, inexperienced head coaches....

I hope if this does happen and we see him bringing in players he wants, that we can all get behind the club again. Uts 9je thing for fans to say they want a britisj manager snd players and the maansger to be given time. I really hope we can be patient wuth wilder. Lets say he lises a few games early on, a bit like harris did at millwall.... will everyone stuck woth him or turn on him and rhe owners again? Let's face it they aint going anywhere so it's...

    a. Continue protesting and hope we win matches and then Roland sells once we're up.

    B. Get behind a new management setup and make the valley a good place to watch football again .

Oh rumour has it they are appointing an English manager. So it is all ok call off the revolution

Really? Unbelievable. Nothing less than new owners.

sacking Meire would make a bigger statement than appointing Wilder.

And if squirrel face stays give it a few months before another manager leaves(Wilder/whoever).

Cawley seems to be saying if CW comes others will follow.

Assume this means a director of football and chief scout not just a no.2

correct - the whole lot will be announced in one go - complete sea change and admission that the network model has failed at charlton and an attempt to get back up - i have my doubts it will work under these owners but be surprised if whole 'package' isn't announced in next week or so. riga resigning and slp etc now printing so no harm in stating on here i guess. will still be holding off any season ticket purchase til start of season but to be honest, even if boris johnson and donald trumpo were announced as our new joint managers for next year i would still be renewing - going charlton is what i do and will always do, regardless of the situation. A sell up by rd would have been 1st prize with new owners committing to acadamy project and curbs coming in as dof with say cp as manager but this has to be next best we coulfd have hoped for surely?

I think this a huge next step. If RD is serious about changing things and turning it round, she has to go.

Woefully out of her depth. The interview about the sofa on that video thread says it all. She was saying that people in the crowd who are the most expressive or dance the most win a chance to sit on the sofa. You couldn't make this shit up

You know she genuinely believed she had thought she had a good idea. Ludicrous. I don't want to cheapen this and it's in no way of the same magnitude, but when they pulled down that Saddam Hussein statue, our equivalent was destroying the sofa.

As I said - not a comparison between the 2, just a symbol of our saying we've had enough of her rule. That sofa being ripped apart is a clear message

Unlike Duchatelets other lackeys,Wilder doesn't look the type to go quietly when it goes tits.

Big risk on the Belgians part.

    KM has to go.

RD should go, may be difficult to dislodge. No possibility of getting out of League 1 or any fan support while KM is there. It's just going to get worse.

my 'guess' is she won't be sacked but become more back of house - lets face it - she may be wholly unequipped as a ceo of a football club but rd will recognise that he has contributed to how stupid and unbelievable she has looked at times

If this happens it is the first appointment Duchatelet will have made that feels like the right one in terms of manager. So despite my anger at the previous two years, I have to call it for what it is. It can only be viewed as a climbdown on the owner's part. Next move Katrien out and the club will have my attention again. Obviously summer activity key but if sound, and no Katrien, I will buy a season ticket. But I will also be ready to protest if teh club deviates from it's new path - but we haven't appointed Wilder yet, we haven't moved Katrien on and we havent seen our transfer activity - in and out. So a possible path is visible, but there are a lot of steps ahead for it to change anything. But if Duchatelet completely changes his approach and we see that has happened, it has to be a positive.

Maybe Duchatelet has run out of network options.

Ever since seeing that sofa upcycled on Saturday I can't get that Orange Juices song from the eighties out of my mind. You know the one 'Rip it up (and start again)'.

There's even a line in there somewhere that goes 'I hope to god you're not as dumb as you make out'

Perhaps what we are about to witness could be a fresh start!!! IBIWISI

Maybe he is cynically manipulating, spinning and leaking to undermine the protests - By the look of some comments on here he is succeeding.

It will all end in tears!

    I agree.

If KM goes, CW with decent back room support are appointed with appropriate freedoms and then the transfer activity looks good, I would be amazed, but would leave off protesting until evidence of Roland interfering came up.

    Can't see it happening.

Not sure about that. RD is pretty consistent when it comes to his policy of sacking folk.

I feel sorry for Northampton fans. Just been promoted and then lose your manager.

I love Charlton but is it just me that thinks football is shit these days?

Sorry but it's always been that way m8

  • I really hope I am right on this. I think that appointing Wilder early will allow him to restructure the footballing side while Duchebag sets up a new management structure. He will then appoint a new CEO who will get to grips with new appointments. Liar Liar will move on in the network supposedly stepping "up" her career by taking on a new challenge. Judas Murray will get another lifeline by acting as the conduit between club and Duchebag.
God I need a lie down now.
Trouble is so much has gone on you cannot trust anyone any more. Shame.

sounds like your another that has lost site of what the protests were about - affecting change - this is a step in the right direction - he's not going to sell til we r back up so like it or not, we need this to work - he can then sell - forget the personalities - km and rd being defeated and going has become more important to some than the health of the club - if you want to protest until they go thats up to you - if we start well and it is clear the network nonsense is finished then i'm behind it and the protests will become a pain in the arse next year - if this is all another load of hot air then i'll be back in protest mode but we need this to work as much as he does - probably more.

Like your tummy rubbed obviously. Dribbling with excitement no doubt.

The protests are about getting Duchatalet out. Simple.

Let's not get too carried away just yet. Katrien still has 19 other candidates to interview and it's not quite been 24 hours.

I've read all the posts and this is my take on everything....If, and it's a big IF, CW is allowed to bring in who he wants and pick who he wants and manage, (helped by LL in a DoF role), then I'll give RD my 'lukewarm' support. However if this is just another load of 'press speak' then may Armageddon be released on RD and his cohorts.

With respect, how is a league two manager a suitable choice for a championship club? He might be British, but that does not mean he's an inspired signing by any means

Erm, his present club have just been promoted to Division 3.
And Charlton are no longer a Championship club.

Remember when Chris Powell got us promoted from League One in a similar fashion to what CW has done at Northampton with non exciting football? Some of the same faces who wanted CP out seem to be over the moon with the expected hiring of CW. Baffled. It's not about managers to me, the man who owns us has a track record at Football Clubs - it's not a good track record. The reason other club's don't protest so heavily is a lot of other countries are a bit more apathetic towards their Football Club - it is not their life like it is ours.

Doesn't seem the type to take any messing about from RD/KM. talks about the drawn out takeover of NTFC. Well worth a listen.
Also pronounces 'attitude' a bit funny.
