Addicks Brand replica shirt for next season

Absolute quality design. Who said you can't do anything by committee? Well done Tel for taking the lead, Nug for the brilliant designs and everyone else who contributed. That'll be three for me please.3

I like it (well i don't like it) but i think it does the job. I would rather not have 'covered end choir' on it. Better to put 'support the team not the regime' Or perhaps 'true Charlton' ?0

I think Covered End Choir is inspired. I'm in the East Stand these days but I spent many a brilliant afternoon in the covered end, as part of the "choir" in the 60s and 70s. Once a Covered Ender always a Covered Ender.kings hill addick said:
Just one question.TEL said:Here the official protest kit as advertised in today unofficial match day program. Before anyone asks the obvious questions...no we couldnt use the sword, The Valley, Addicks etc as the club has them trademarked. The design is an acknowledgement of the clubs achievements in the 1940's with the Robin style badge and a nod to the recent beachball protests. We would have loved to have used The Addicks, but the next best Charlton association is of course the Covered End. The team who came up with the design hope you like it, and please give use some idea of how many we should order by emailing us....here is the article from today's excellent unofficial program.
REPLICA PROTEST SHIRT: This is the new official Charlton protest shirt, which we are announcing for the first time today in our latest unofficial matchday programme.
CARD is calling on all Addicks to boycott the club’s official replica kits for next season – and to show their support for the team, but not the regime, by wearing an alternative shirt instead.
The club is likely to announce up to three new shirt designs in the summer, each of which will last just one season. Replica shirts are the major element of Charlton’s merchandise sales.
The CARD-endorsed shirt is of a high quality and utilises the black and white colours worn in the team’s 1947 FA Cup final win over Burnley, which have already been widely adopted by protestors this season in the form of scarves.
Profits from sales will go to the protest fund and a local charity. The shirt will be keenly priced and the intention is to make it available by mail order during the summer.
Further announcements will be made via social media and on the Charlton Life forum. However, it would be really helpful in the meantime to have an idea of the likely demand. To register your interest please email
coveredend@gmail.com.

Is this shirt only to be work by those that sit in the North Stand? Otherwise I don't get the relevance of Covered End Choir?
Fabulous work by @TEL (a pleasure to meet you today mate) @Nug and all those involved. It is a superb design that knocks the official kits out of the park.3 -
I'm just hoping they come in Marque sizes or else I'll be hanging mine on my rear view mirror.DRAddick said:

Sorry if this has already been stated but is it the shirt only that's available or can you get shorts and socks for kids?0
-
That's a good point @jamescafc and not something we'd properly addressed, we were really focusing on the shirt, but I have a 10 year old and I know he'd like a full kit. We'll discuss this option for kids and see if it's viable.jamescafc said:Sorry if this has already been stated but is it the shirt only that's available or can you get shorts and socks for kids?

Will they be available in time for the first friendly (Welling)?0

Thanks @Nug. My sons 5 and practically lives in his Charlton kits throughout summer. I imagine many others do the same so hoping there's sufficient demand for production.Nug said:

I'm not criticising, incidentally, I just think it does make it look like a shirt for those in the North Stand.1

At least 3 of the above were "on the table" as was My Only Desire. At the end of the day a group (not all CARD) decided on this one in reference to our song Valley Floyd Road. We realise the name/logo/kit design will not please everyone and that was never likely to happen but it's a protest shirt and intended to make a statement to the club that we don't accept their ownership.kings hill addick said:

Surely every Charlton fan has been part of the Covered End Choir at some point?1

How about having a slogan of

Don't sit in covered end yet as son is too young but it's a key component of Valley Floyd Road,
We chant it despite our limited miles travelled and our limited chanting inside the choir.
I have no problem with this.3 -
Great work but am I the only one to not like the colours?
Opportunity missed with a simple red design. The point is to outsell the replica kit and this would have been achievable with a simple red design.6 -
But if it had been predominantly red it wouldn't have been as noticeable in the ground. Also it carries on the Black and White theme. I really like it.Bolderhumphreyreid said:Great work but am I the only one to not like the colours?

Exactly, if it was a red jersey it would "blend in" with the official replica kit. We want to stand out - it IS a protest.LargeAddick said:

We will make whatever is required.....Ive had requests of 4XL which we can do...email us with your sizes and quantity.DRAddick said:0 -
Cheers Tel but I meant what measurements do the sizes cover? What is a medium, a large etc..... I'm kind of in between sizes and different makers size sizes differently. Cheers.TEL said:

I will provide a sizing chart with all the measurements in due course. From what Ive seen and measured so far they tend to come up a little bit larger than the current Nike range, but lets wait for the size chart and prototype before I commit to anything.DRAddick said:

Thought Covered End Choir might alienate other parts of the ground, until I read this quote. Quite right. Even a Non Attending Supporter would be proud.... I`m in.2 -
I'm not a fan of 'Covered End Choir', though I get the sentiment. I'd suggest setting up a poll with ideas mentioned above and elsewhere - making fans part of the creation would add appeal and more sales.3

I think that, from the outset, TEL has sought peoples' input about how the shirt should look.
As with any shirt, not all of us will be delighted, but, unlike the Nike pub team catalogue version the regime will select, at least there will have been some canvassing.
Anything on the shirt (other than the colour, which has to be distinct from the regime shirt IMHO) has to be recognisably Charlton and not copyrighted - which has a tendency to limit the field somewhat.
I think the shirt is great and I will purchase.5
