Clearly the ECB have some very good scouts especially in Jo'burg!
Some, to be fair, were brought up here but a fair number of the above came here attracted by the prospect of playing International cricket. Either because, in the case of most of the South Africans, they wouldn't have been afforded the same opportunity back "home" or the with respect to the Irish, they wanted the chance to play cricket at a decent level.

That list is actually a bit misleading, a lot of those players were born overseas but to British parents who were temporarily resident overseas.Addick Addict said:

Andrew Strauss came up with an interesting stat, in the 4 Tests so far, our seamers only would have hit the stumps with just over 5% of the balls they've delivered. No wonder we haven't had one LBW yet.0

The son of prolific Yorkshire opener Richard Lumb, Michael was born in South Africa and made his way through the junior teams in Transvaal before returning to his roots to play for Yorkshire.

The 15 players (bar Ed Joyce) have all played in some shape or form for us at International level in the last year or so. You've quoted three players of which two haven't played for Australia for donkeys years.
So, the point I am probably making is that the system for bringing though top players here isn't good enough and specifically with regards to the mental side of the game. Or, possibly our coaches just like their attitude more.0 -

They are even worse at the Olympics where they stuff their athletics and weightlifting squads with Eastern European athletes who they bring over on special visas to the AIS and then fast track them to citizenship - many of them can't even speak English.

Correct, my point being that he has British parentage. Brits have always , through history, been the pioneers, the ones to explore, build,travel, re-settle,migrate.
