In terms of our pen, if the ball is deemed to be going into the goal before it hits the arm, it is generally going to be given a penalty irrespective of intent. Their one was clearly outside the box if it was a foul. Sending off was a stud showing lunge.
I also speak on behalf of Charlton and Posh fans when I say that ref was awful. Was utterly determined to be the star of the show.
Got all 3 big decisions wrong. Both weren't pens and it was never a red.
He didn't get them wrong. Fortunately the 5 Charlton players who rushed to the ref saw the studs going in high on Small. Also Ferguson can see why the ref gave a red.
Both were pens.
The lino on the Curbs touchline had an excellent view of the incident.
What's ridiculous is that Small still had to go off the pitch for 30 seconds after getting treatment, despite being on the receiving end of a red card challenge.
Was watching whilst working - I'm very pleased with the result, but the scoreline flatters our opponent again.
We should have been 2 up by half time, Berry came especially close. We could have scored four or five tonight with a bit of smarter decision making from Small and Campbell, but they're getting in the right positions.
Negatives: Started slowly again as we did on Saturday. Teams look to get the ball forward quickly and turn Jones and Gillesphey and it has got them in behind a few times. Also, we got a little over excited when they went down to ten and got caught out. Just needed to settle and keep doing what we were doing. Positives: A settled team and way of playing. No real weak areas. Our best players are at the top of their games - Coventry, Jones, Ramsay, Godden. We could have easily had five tonight but down to some poor finishing and fortunate blocks it was tighter than it should have been. Finally, Gilbert’s delivery from the corner. Lovely driven cross and a controlled header.
Up to fifth! Rather have the points than the games in hand and we can go to Birmingham in confident mood.

If the Ramsay foul was outside the box, then presumably should have been a red card and a free kick...

Confidence beginning to ooze through the side. Never give up. Still a lack of quality in the final third. TC harasses the hell out of people but 1 goal and 1 assist in 26 league games isn't good enough return Gillesphey great header but he was all over the place first half hour. Gilbert looks decent on the ball. Great corner for the goal. Connor and the Captain are beginning to show their worth. Lloyd Jones was excellent. Godden looked sharp.
Dare I say it. The play offs look very reachable.
I would still like Dizzie replaced. Hoping the new signing adds a little bit more quality defensively.
TC has 2 goals and 6 assists in the league according to the last statbank thread. Another assist tonight if his shot to win the penalty is counted too.
LEAGUE GAMES sir
Sadly his stats are as follows (my bad he has 2 goals and 1 assist in 29 league games). My comments still stand. He needs to deliver more.
Ps his "shot" for the penalty was going wide. I sit right behind the goal. But he did shoot. We did get a penalty. But it isn't an assist. Like him hitting the bar Saturday.
I talk more about clean through first half. He never looked like scoring and even making the keeper make a save. He passed it into his hands.
He needs to do better if we are to get the most from his hard work. Those chances become more important the higher we (hopefully) go
PWR, but watched the game and thought the ref had a good game. Every decision correct I’d say, other than their pen, which was a foul outside of the box. Perhaps that’s why NJ had words at the final whistle?

It is a good point and he could have been sent off if it was in the box too. I'm not sure it was a foul but yes, that was a possible scenario.

This is where the stats lie a bit. We are all aware of several opportunities our players have made where the assist isn't given. A shot deflected off the post when the rebound is finished for example isn't always counted as an assist, whereas it should be. An example is our last game. TC with a wonder strike that falls perfectly for a tidy finish from Berry - No official assist, but Statbank recognised it.
In previous years the Aneke sub has genuinely been a "cheat code". But this season we turn into such a poor side every time he comes on the pitch. Even with a man advantage we resorted to hoofball with Aneke on the pitch...
That aside, another great performance for the majority of the game, and a valuable 3 points.
After 70 mins I thought this was going to be one of our usual performances against 10 men. The fact we won and have beaten yet another bogey team in recent games has me daring to dream!

So many good performances across the park tonight. And not for the first time in recent months. We look so resilient. Hardly waste a ball. The whole thing just looks so much more structured. Think Brum are too far gone, but in this type of form, I think the Wrexham's and the Wycombe's should be having a very cautious look over their shoulders.
I'm not sure some of the comments about "making heavy weather of it" and "being poor in the final third" are exactly fair...
I bet most journos would make Jed Steer (late of this parish) man of the match. At least twice, Matty Godden got his near post flicks in (like 3 of his last goals have been) and Steer saved them. Then he saved a ball that was absolutely hammered at the goal from all of 6 yards out, which got 2 hands to, and pushed over the bar.
And a few cracking stops in the 2nd half. Could do nothing about the penalty, though.
But we were definitely the better side, and deserved the 3 points.

I agree. TC has come on leaps and bounds but his end product still leaves a lot to be desired. I'm just not sure he'll evenly be calm in front of goal or pick players out well enough with passes
100% better than 18 months ago though. Night and day!

That surprised me as I thought if it's from a yellow or Red card challenge you don't have to spend time on the sidelines.🤔

15 shots in the box for just two goals isn't fantastic but still the XG really shows how we dominated in the final third.

Doc, CC and TC fucking immense . Up the Charlton
Consistency, wins, if you slip-up then go again at the same levels. No forensic analysis required of each player and game.
That kind of mentality can be felt at Charlton at the moment.
Fair play to Jones and all of them, they deserve a lot of credit and praise
Lots of effort tonight & the kept going even when it looked like it wasn't going to be our day.
Cant say there were any outstanding performances but Docherty had a good game & on another day Berry & Godden would have had 2 each.
Will leave my negative observations for another day.
That aside, another great performance for the majority of the game, and a valuable 3 points.
Pretty much won every battle across the field of play, a thoroughly deserved three points.
This beats the attendance vs Bristol Rovers and Crawley attendance.
