12th goal of the season for Luke Berry, let the praise be as loud as the disrespect.

Brilliant second half and we finally look like a team. It’s in our hands now, we just have to keep going and be a bit lucky with injuries.
You mean Godden I assume? But yes, Berry also deserves praise lately.
No I was talking about Berry, but Godden has been outstanding recently and has rightly been getting a lot of praise for it, even when he wasn’t playing the feeling was generally positive towards him.

Most of the chatter around Berry has leaned very negative for much of the season.
  • AMB’s one on one save and “injury” feel like a real sliding doors moment for our season. It feels important. I feel like we really kick on from here
Where we're the defence to leave their two forwards in behind straight down the middle. Would like to have seen the build up. A very important intervention from AMB and brave too. He deserved a tunnel jump for that alone!

Genuinely think the pitch held us back today. Very hard for Campbell & Small to carry the ball at any pace. Cracking fight from the boys

Palmed the ball onto the Stevenage players heel. Great goalkeeping.

My mistake, it’s actually Godden with the 12 goals! He’s really made himself invaluable to the team these past weeks, you can see how much pedigree he has with the types of goals he’s scoring.

    Could this be our year?!

I think you've got some things crossed there then. Berry has 6 goals this season, Godden has 12

Am I the only one who thinks AMB’s save wasn’t a save?
I think he never actually touched the ball, it seemed to me it came off the attackers shin.
Any way, if that ‘was’ the case it was certainly AMB’s intervention that caused the miss control….so in effect he still prevented a shot on goal.
    Discuss.
From my vantage point in the Covered End I didn’t think it was a save but rather a touch from the attacker, but it felt impolite to point it out at the time.
From Charlton TV looked got a hand which then caused the ball to clip the other players heel

The SKY highlights are available now - he definitely got a hand to it.
Fair play, brilliant goalkeeping in that case - worth a goal.

I have to say AMB "tactical" injury that allowed Jones to speak to the players after 30 minutes totally changed the game. We'd bought into there game plan before then hook line and sinker, our usually reliable players such as Ramsay, Edwards and jones were all over the shot, once he spoke and gave them whatever it was he felt they needed, thw whole game changed.

The midfield 3 totally controlled everything after that. I'm intrigued to see Coventrys stats so far this season as I think he has been absolutely fantastic.

Really enjoyed that win for several reasons. The first being we are learning to win those tough games we usually end up losing but also we are starting to see the best of players that a lot of us, myself included didnt think we're up to par, AMB in particular.
  • Fabulous save from AMB coming off his line to claw it away from their attacker. Credit to the Stevenage forward for not going down as most would. I think he was so shocked that AMB got the ball without any contact.

Is it worth questioning whether berrys improved performance now down to pressure to perform re competition for his spot?
Berry is playing better because the team is playing better.

Small gave their 16, Firestone, such a run around he must’ve been very tired by the end. I hear he hasn’t had a very good year.
Very good with the puns. However, his name is Freestone, so your post in null & void.  :D

    Great performance by the team.
AMB save was superb. Jones the centre half is having great performances every game.
Coventry looks like a class act.
Jones the manager really getting a tune out of what I thought was a threadbare squad.

Every body with a smile on the way home, even the two children sitting in front of me were a credit to their Dad.

Proper day out, with a proper performance to make my weekend special. I think this calls for beer!!

Important for the win today but the ' sliding doors'  moment was when the Shrewsbury striker missed a sitter at 0-0 very late on and once Thierry scored the winner at the death we suddenly had 3 points and not 0.

Berry and the Doc suddenly are at it and using their experience and Coventry is looking top notch.
Despite both Small and Edwards having average games the inclusion of both of them with Ramsey has really helped both Jones and Gillesphey and our shape is so much better.

We will have set backs and defeats over the next few months we just need to keep our nerve as we are in the shake up for the play offs and one defeat won't mean the team or squad are suddenly Shite.

Players staying fit will be paramount as we get to the business end of the season.

So... From the Play-Off teams this weekend

Stockport won (thats annoying), but they beat Barnsley (Great)
Huddersfield drew (So we're two behind them now), with Reading (who are now two behind us)
    Blackpool drew
    Rotherham lost.

    Leyton Orient didnt play.

Cant ask more than that from the rest of the weekend - Although Bolton have potentially won it in injury time against Crawley so remain level on points with us, but we ironically have the better Goal Difference, yet we've a game in hand against them.

Nope Bolton's Goal Difference is terrible compared to ours, we stay 6th

Ironic as we've been told on here that we keep too many clean sheets, dont score enough goals and that Goal Difference will inevitably cost us.

    MOTM was AMB

Kept us in the game with a great rushing save when it was 0 - 0 and then his unfortunate and in no way faked injury allowed NJ to re-organise the team.

Before then we had been nullified, after the tweek with Coventry playing slightly more forward we dominated.

Campbell had not been on it but once he got going to was involved in both goals and was unlucky not to score with a lovely shot from outside the area that Berry was on hand to tuck away the rebound.

After that is was very comfortable and we should have had more but let's not be greedy.  Clean sheet, no injuries other than AMB as above and Coventry's nosebleed after running into the oppo box.

Don't like these early kick offs but when you when it does mean a relaxing afternoon.

Would like to see it back, but from memory he was facing a 2 on 1 and was third favourite to come out with the ball. Decisive, and got it clean as a whistle. Situation had goal, pen or red card written all over it.
Is he man of the match for that timely injury, he recovered from well.

Annoying, but it was us who slipped up last week and should have claimed 3 points. As NJ says, just focus on what you can do yourselves each game.

    Still 6th on goal difference.
