  • This is the most I have enjoyed Charlton since I missed the play off final.
The fact that I endured through all 5 seasons of league one and the relegation makes this moment sweeter. I remember losing 2-1 at home to Fleetwood with Jayden shit stockley scoring. Who can forget 2-0 mk dons under garner or 1-1 to forest green rovers.
If you cannot be positive now then there is no hope for you. I died today from vodka, my friend was freaking out because I stopped breathing for five minutes, I've been given a chance of life again and all I want to do is watch Charlton again with my dad and give him a hug. COME ON YOU REDS
Wow, unless I’m being whooshed, that’s incredible! Take it easy JMF, and ease off the vodka a little, eh?
  • I got asked to not write it in its correct spelling  a few years back by a moderator, so that’s why I changed to king cnut spelling
wank and prick i leave the same I won’t asre about with them
    You’re a true gentleman, oohaah.

Watching the extended highlights on Charlton TV - only just realised that Stevenage hadn’t lost away from home since October, before the weekend.

Small is nowhere near the finished article but I really hope the club are throwing everything at his agent to get the contract signed
He’s joined a new agency, so hopefully that’ll lead to us keeping him beyond this season.

Hopefully a very good sign. Two Touch Agency is run by Jon Fortune (and Paolo Vernazza).

Don’t think it’s been mentioned but highlight of the game has got to be when Tyreece Campbell started running down the wing and Nutjob Nathan started sprinted alongside him 🤣

This and also witnessed a funny moment from my perch in the NL. Late in the 2nd half the CE started Ole-ing a spell of passing aroukdd the back. He started waving his arms manically and shouting NOOOOO! towards them!
I wonder why he was against that? Was it a coach carter moment where he didn't want our fans mocking the opponents, or thought it was unnecessary pressure for his players 😂

He's absolutely barmy. I watched on the box yesterday and could actually hear him clear as day yelling instructions sometimes.

I would love them to stick a gopro on his head and monitor his heart rates. Would be content.

I reckon when he goes home after the game his brain is wired.

He's always had passion and shows that he cares.  Not a bad thing.
There's definitely nothing wrong with it. Jones and his touchlines antics have never bothered me. The only time he's annoyed me this season is when we were playing awful and he persisted with saying we were playing well but not getting the basics right, genuinely a ridiculous period.

When I spoke with him he did come across very intense, and I wouldn't say he's a very endearing bloke (doesn't come across too happy) but I've hated some of the soft touch managers we have had who have won fans over just by being nice and not actually good managers. He was polite enough to say hello and talk, and as long as he makes Chartlon good that's all that matters for me. Buying beers and doing walking videos doesn't cut it for me.

Now with Jones actually getting results and it being evident we have improved as a team, none of the rest bothers me. I firmly believe we will win the play-offs if we make it, and I believe he is the best manager to keep us up if we do go up as he is at his best as an underdog manager.

Was sitting 3 rows back from NJ, can 100% confirm he told AMB to go down to force a reset, was also great entertainment watching NJ and TC doing a sprint off.
great that he did that coz thats what other managers have done to us - but - the cynical way injuries are used these days is getting a bit out of hand - often to run the clock down - head injury being the classic - well, there's a simple way to stop it - retrospective cards if found to be feigning and don't allow the whole team to have a huddle - the officials will catch up eventually once its reached ridiculous levels
Hey, that was my idea @DOUCHER ! 😉
Three (or even five) match bans I was suggesting, which adds up to the same thing I guess. Maybe even a fine for the club. You’d need good multi camera TV coverage to provide the necessary video evidence though, and that certainly isn’t a given. However, you’d only need a few well-publicised cases to put people off doing it.
Or allow time-outs? If the pros in the game think they're valuable maybe there's a case for it?

Yeah I think he just didn’t want us to lull our players into a false sense of security. It was a really bizarre moment though.

Compared to some other managers I am impressed by Jones’ vocabulary and his ability to select words to use which he articulates well. Sometimes it is a bit clichéd and even ‘politically’ obfuscating when he does not want to give out too much.
I put it down to being brought up and educated in South Wales and exposed to the great Welsh poets like Dylan Thomas, Gerald Manley Hopkins, RS Thomas, Daniel Abse, Vernon Watkins, who all had a way with words. I was alerted to this when he anticipated an away pitch as ‘rustic’ last season.
My worry about Nathan Jones is his stress levels, they always seem to be high, and stratospheric during matches. I can only hope that his religious belief brings him some core peace, and that the amiable Curtis Fleming can act as a contrast and help him chill and achieve equilibrium.
Did he not say they have beaten Wrexeter recently? A great way of using less words as they have beaten both.

I'd love to watch him backing his horse in a horse race at the bookies, bet he'd be chinning monitors.
  • Really can't see anyone in the top 8 I would say to trouble us currently, bit bold to say but 2nd spot is only 12 points away, so why not, everyone above us apart from Birmingham are stuttering and we could have hit the right level just right, but as far as play-offs are concerned, no-one to worry about as far as I see it...🤷‍♂️
We just have to make sure we get there, preferably in third or fourth.
  • Nathan Jones doesn't seem like someone I feel I would personally get along with very well, but that does not mean I don't see that it clearly does hit the point with the players and that's by far the most important factor.

He's obviously created the culture and team spirit he wanted and its starting to pay off. The only question now is how far he can take things this season.

Automatic promotion teams average 2 points per game.
So to catch up 12 points, we possibly need to double our present points total.
So 47 points from 17 games = 15 wins and 2 draws, good luck with that.
  • Am I the only one who thinks AMB’s save wasn’t a save?
I think he never actually touched the ball, it seemed to me it came off the attackers shin.
Any way, if that ‘was’ the case it was certainly AMB’s intervention that caused the miss control….so in effect he still prevented a shot on goal.
    Discuss.
    Yes.
