Small certainly has things he needs to work on but It is not coincidence that our uptick in form coincided with moving Small on the right. By having dangerous pacy players on both wings and pushing an actual attacking midfielder forward to be almost as a second striker.
I wonder how Gas would get on in this much more positive environment, I refuse to believe what we've seen so far is all he has to offer. Would have liked to have seen more of Gilbert yesterday, but given how well Berry was playing I can understand the lack of subs, I expect to see him get more minutes on Tuesday
Time for us as fans to step up now. The players deserve to see less empty seats and more noise from the stands.
Agreed , Stevenage made all the noise for the first hour , we had zero personality . This team effort and results wise is brilliant , performance wise it’s not quite hitting the spot as greedy as id like but in all honesty I just don’t think the appetite is there for a 12.30 or midweek match and 95% of fixtures in this league are just dull and don’t get the juices flowing for your on the fence punter .
Can talk about kick off times all we want but the most damaging thing that's happened to the atmosphere at The Valley is doing the cheap STs in the lower Covered End.

You'll get to see it once he earns it on merit. At the moment he's behind Leaburn, Kanu and Chuks on the bench. He may have pipped Hylton.
Decent win, decent performance. All credit to Jones & the players who have massively stepped up in recent weeks but why is he talking about Alfie May in his post match? Very strange...
Because for months a lot of Charlton fans on pages like this have been vilifying him for Alfie May leaving, implying he wanted him out and did all he could to be rid of him. So he is aware of this.

Why do the noisier crowd sit in the north upper? You can barely hear them. I'll Never understand why the whole lower tier isn't standing right behind the goal giving a presence rather than the inane muffled beat of a drum in the gods.
Great day out shit weather boring first half then we did them either side of half time clinical stuff could have put 3-4 past them easily one of the best performances I've seen this season against a side i thought we'd really struggle against, special mental to brewer if it weren't for him it could of been a crap afternoon underrated keeper imo only young aswell.
He's 26, as for your comment about the owners backing the club, the club will probably lose between 7 to ten million this season and yes the craziness of football means that debt effectively stays with the club but and it's a big but, someone has to pay the day to day costs of running a football club. Despite the debt and the silly money they gave to Sandgaard, we now have a squad that is sitting in the play off positions and has hit form in the last third of the season. I don't know how long you've been supporting Charlton, Steven, but you will find that every supporter outside the Premier is asking for the 'board to stop being tight', I've been asking since 1968, I don't think anyone is listening mate, but if they do let me know.
So owners backing the club is an issue, you only have to look to Birmingham, as well as the operating loss which will be bigger tan ours, they have according to the football economy site spent £35 million on transfers out the £56 million spent in league 1 this season. It seems Wycombe and Wrexham are the next biggest spenders, obviously a long way behind Birmingham.

The club needs to install safer standing in the Lower North asap.
I think I can say that Godden is as good if not better than May now, without getting too many LOLs.
Both very good poachers at this level, but Godden is the better option to play alongside TC as he’ll hold it up better and win more headers. We’d have to play a different way with May.

Be a shame if any or all of those 3 clubs don’t get promoted this season after gambling loads of money to achieve it…could be very squeaky-bum time at those clubs if Charlton and the chasing pack do start to narrow the gap.

the roof is too far away so the atmosphere, when in the stand, wouldn't echo and seem as good and people wouldn't join in as much - like being on an open terrace at an away game - very difficult to get the songs going - we just need to continue winning and get people back down there and fill the place back up
In terms of TC. There were question marks about the level he will reach last season and there are still question marks but the level we are questioning is a few levels above now. This has been a massive season for the lad.

There’s around 5 rows where the ‘roof’ is low at the back of the Lower North because the Upper North is above it. If those 5 rows are safer standing then the row in front can also stand without blocking the view of the row behind; and if they stand then the row in front of them can stand…
Don’t think it’s been mentioned but highlight of the game has got to be when Tyreece Campbell started running down the wing and Nutjob Nathan started sprinted alongside him 🤣
He's absolutely barmy. I watched on the box yesterday and could actually hear him clear as day yelling instructions sometimes.
I would love them to stick a gopro on his head and monitor his heart rates. Would be content.
I reckon when he goes home after the game his brain is wired.
He's always had passion and shows that he cares. Not a bad thing.
Recall Appleton suggesting animated managers are contrived. Really don't think there is anything contrived about Jones passion. He is "exuberant" to the extreme and I love that in our manager. It was really depressing watching Appleton.
I find it hard to relate to Jones. I mean taping up his fingers to stop him biting them. But it seems the players like him and he has been saying all season that this was coming and we didn't believe him but it has come. I recall hoping Luton would sack their manager and take him. Now I would be gutted at such a scenario. It shows the club was right to stick with him and maybe other clubs should have too. I am happily eating a couple of slices of humble pie.
Clean sheets in 45% of our games so far. Past seasons show that you need 40-45% to go up.
If we can keep that going, we'll be right up there.
I feel like this is the first likeable group of players in a long, long time. We lost a few fan favourites but it feels like we've finally got a good bunch in the dressing room who have the desire to defend and win games.
I found yesterday a bit bizarre, to be honest... Watching a Charlton side win and control a game so comfortably.
I think the club needs to make a "Jones cam" a bit like when Sky Sports used to do player cam on the red button where the camera followed certain players for 15 mins
Have it on Charlton TV where they run a picture in picture of what's happening on the pitch and what's happening on the touchline, because he's absolutely fucking mental.
At one point Fleming had to drag him back 5 yards because he was going so apeshit he ended up on the pitch. Imagine Brent's dance in The Office but at 3x speed and you are close to how he looked

I don't think they do actually, also the CE Lower is notoriously shallow, and will feel a lot emptier than it already is if it was safe standing

i like him - what you see is what you get - his nature isn't to turn the other cheek and i'm glad, as we all are, that things are now coming to 'fruition' - must have been tough earlier in the season when things weren't working out - as fans its tough but when you're at the helm and responsible for it, your living and breathing it 7 days a week and a third sacking on the trot could have been career ending - i'm sure there will be dips ahead but onwards and upwards - i'm happy he's 'at the wheel' and love his passion for rebuilding us as a club and his career at the same time.

Acoustics are far better in the upper tier than lower (the acoustics are shit in that stand overall though).
When the upper tier was full with people standing, it could generate a decent amount of noise. Now you've got a split of some noise in in the upper and some in the lower, meaning less volume overall.

Oh I'm absolutely not calling for us to start Gas on Tuesday or potentially even put him on the bench, just curious to see how he might get on in this side now where he'd possibly be able to get more involved with the game beyond trying to win aerial duels as we're playing so much more expansively nowadays. In the same vein id love to see DK get more of a run out in a game as just feel he's bought on so late at the moment he doesn't really get the time to make an impact, but given the run we're on and the upcoming games we have, I wouldn't encourage experimentation when we've found something that's working well for us

Plus I would imagine the motivational skills between the pair of them differed as well.

and someone would have bought him
So he is aware of this.
Stevenage failed to do the basics at Charlton - Alex Revell
Nice to know that other teams who say the same things a "our Nathan"If we can keep that going, we'll be right up there.
