I think the final will be on the 25th so will be watching in Genoa if we make it. I will be in England for the semis. My brother thinks we can bag second and he is usually pretty pessimistic.
He may not be wrong. There are too many teams in the mix and those above and below us must therefore drop points. We just need to maintain the momentum we’ve been building and see where we end up.
If we win Saturday and Wycombe lose, its game on for 2nd - not just because of the 3 points but that we can go away to a top end rival and beat them at the business end of the season - lose and it’s a scramble for the play offs - big big game Saturday
I agree with you mate there maybe a lot of games left but Saturday could be a season defining match imo win and 2nd place is on the cards as the gauntlet is well and truly thrown down
Still don’t think 2nd is a realistic goal, but this is a big week for our play off ambitions.
From the 3 games, if we get 5 or more points then I think we will be finishing in the top 6, 3 or less and we won’t be. 4 points would leave me 50:50 which is where I am at the moment. Get out the other side of this week with a decent points showing and then we can hopefully continue our momentum with some easier games again
No way we close an 11 point gap in 14 games to get 2nd. We would probably have to win 12-13 of them to have a chance; nice to dream but not happening. 3rd is still a chance as Wrexham have such a tricky run in but is still highly unrealistic.
Draw against Orient and Stockport and beat Barnsley would be a good week as long as we follow that up with wins the 2/3 games after that. 12 + points from the next 18 would be a decent return and keep us on target.

Would have to be a huge implosion for Wycombe to finish below us. I don’t think their form is great but would probably need to have relegation like form for us to catch them.
I think it was 25 points from 30 points in final 10 games under Bowyer and we only took 3rd on the final day, because Sunderland dropped 7 points in their final 3 matches.

Not saying it's possible but worth remembering Wycombe still have away games at:
Birmingham, Huddersfield, Reading, Bolton and Orient.
Plus home games against Us, Wrexham and Stockport.

Let's hope they win them all then as it will do us a favour.
I thought we made Wycombe look bang average at the valley (due credit to 2 exceptional Miles Leaburn goals), and it would feel just to finish above them, especially if we don't lose at theirs.

Technically its only 9-pts as we will need to beat Wycombe to get ahead of them, and presume they currently have better GD than us.
It'll be interesting if we can really close the gap between now and that game though, not that I realistically expect it to happen.
Saturday is actually so big, I wish I was going, have a whole group of mates who will be there in full voice. It really is astonishing how Jones has turned this around, said to my pals after the Crawley loss in December was more than happy for him to go. Huge credit to him and he deserves so much of the plaudits, he has clearly improved the players fitness so much, the late goals and hard work very reminiscent of his successful Luton teams.
Thinking ahead as this is a potential play-off thread, I could be in line for one of the best weeks ever from a selfish perspective. I will be turning 30 on the Thursday May 22nd...I no longer live in the UK so landing back home for more 30th celebrations on the Saturday and having a party with all my friends and family I haven't seen since Christmas...to then head to Wembley with much of the same crowd on the Sunday to watch us win the final (Bauer esque will do)! Gary Neville talks about the week they won the '99 treble as being the best of his life well this would be my equivalent!
Oxford in 6th had 55pts from 33 games. This year 6th has 53pts from 33 games.
Last season ended with Barnsley 6th having 76pts and Lincoln 7th having 74pts so we are on track for a similar sort of points tally unless we see the unlikely scenario that multiple clubs go on very good runs of form at the same time.
I don’t think this season is going to be anything like last season though. What is really interesting this season is that from now until end of the season there are two teams in the top 7/8 playing each other in each gameweek. I think there will be less points required this season.
This Saturday is huge in my eyes. It wouldn’t mean our season is over but a win would really set the tone!

What gap did we close to finish 3rd in the playoff season? 3rd never looked like it would happen in a million years!
Saturday is a huge advantage if we win it but it wouldn't be the end of it if we didn't.
When there’s a game like this I always remember us beating Curbs West Ham 4-0 at home under Pardew. We still got relegated and they stayed up.
Important for Jones, the coaches and the players to get the balance right between the game being important but not completely season defining.
This in spades.
There's three points up for grabs, no more, no less. It is a chance to put a bit of a dent in their hopes and maybe kill their belief a bit if it becomes 3 defeats against top 8 sides on the spin, but nothing will be decided tomorrow and it'll have no effect on Bolton, Reading, Stockport, etc.
We definitely got a bit caught up in the hype vs. Birmingham and paid them too much respect in the first part of the game and then lost our cool a bit, late on, making silly, frustrated, fouls and making it easier for them to kill the game. I don't think paying them too much respect will be such a problem tomorrow, but it will be important to play with cool heads and stick to the game plan and what we've been doing well.
If we get anything out of the game tomorrow it might be one where we get something late. They've had a lot of matches and done a lot of travelling recently, including playing with 10 men for a lot of the game on Tuesday. Their representative on Charlton Live this week was suggesting there's been some evidence if tiredness in their last couple of performances. We know how fit we are this season, the quality, energy, and physicality we can call on from the bench, and how many late goals we have scored. If we are a goal, or even two, down with 15 mins to go it'll be important for the players stay calm and don't fall into the same trap as the Birmingham game of trying to force it and giving silly fouls. Patience and belief in the process might be the match winners for us tomorrow.
Anyone know when our play off games are likely to be and the final? I’m in Greece 17th May to 24th be gutted to miss it. (We are definitely getting there).
League One Play-Off Final is scheduled between 24-26th May.
Semi-Finals are estimated (not confirmed) to be around
Think the guy who wrote that article has got those dates a little bit wrong (he does suggest they might be earlier)
22/23 Final Day Regular Season Sunday 7th May First Legs Friday 12th, Saturday 13th Second Legs Thursday 18th, Wednesday 19th
23/24 Final Day Regular Season Saturday 27th April First Legs Friday 3rd, Saturday 4th May Second Legs Tuesday 7th, Wednesday 8th
Likeliest scenario this season is therefore: 24/25 Final Day Regular Season Saturday 3rd May First Legs Friday 9th, Saturday 10th Second legs Tuesday 13th, Wednesday 14th, Thursday 15th, Friday 16th.
It's bonkers why every season the dates can't be pretty much set well in advance, it's almost March and yet no one has firm confirmation of the period over the finals dates at Wembley and the dates over which the semi-final will be played
I think what Birmingham did was play high up the pitch and went for us. Rotherham went for us and we have to stop teams doing this in away games. We have better players than Orient and need to show it.

This.
Although tomorrow is a six pointer in reality it's still just 3 points if you win.
I also think back to our final Premier League season & the joy we all felt hammering (pun very much intended) West Ham.4-0. But in the end they beat Man U at Old Trafford on the final day (admittedly with fraudulently signed players) whilst we couldn't beat Fulham & Spurs at home in our final games.
Just try to win every game. Losing tomorrow might be painful & at 5pm look bad.......but you never know if beating Wrexham on the penultimate weekend might be the 3 points that sees us into the play offs.

Of course it’s tough but there is now a reasonable chance of 2nd.

Brum, Huddersfield, wrexham, Charlton, Bolton, Stevenage, Leyton Orient and Stockport.
Thats 8 tough games from 13 for Wycombe, they are very much catchable.
