Surely Smith has to be doing better with that. Looked routine.

Early signs not good and in about 10 overs the ball will turn to papier mache.

I’m going back to bed I’m feeling 200-2 when  I wake up rather than 150-5 zzzzz

Looking slightly bleak at the moment. Unsure whether the pitch is dead or our line/length are wrong.

Morning all, only just got up.  How bad was the drop?
Head and Westherald look well set and in the mood for runs from the last 2 overs I've seen.

    Bad drop. Beautiful timing though.

    77-1

Head spoons one up in the air and is out

We needed that badly - they were going 10 an over the previous four overs.

Was coming at him a rare old rate of knots. Awkwardish height.
Still think he should've had it.

Lovely little spell from Carse and Stokes here. Very unlucky not to have a wicket from it.

Australia were always going to be better at Bazball than us!

Weatherald is one jammy man. How he’s not nicked one by now is a mystery.

    Need to bowl fuller here.

With Wetherald scoring most of his runs behind square on the off side, someone explain to me why we haven't employed a third man?

80 of the 120 runs so far have been boundaries!

Australia don’t play Bazball, they play “measured and selective” cricket.

Except they’ve done it two innnings in a row now…

This is what happens when you prioritise pace over skill and direction, and select an attack that's entirely made up of shock bowlers. All that talk of this being England's best ever Ashes bowling attack was the biggest load of nonsense I've ever heard. You want one or two shock bowlers, not this

Just caught up with things. Ignoring the unfortunate drop, it appears from what Finn is saying that we've bowled the wrong length and line - more than 6 an over says it all and even though you don't want to be bowling too straight consistently, just 4 balls on the stumps says it all.

We've accused the Aussies of having a one-man bowling attack but that's because their two other main strike bowlers are injured. What's our excuse? It's certainly not Wood because he hasn't picked up a Test wicket in 15 months.

The next two sessions will define whether we have any chance of taking the Ashes.
