  • Compared to Burton and Crawley the football was a smidgen better -ie we actually strung a few passes together on occasion. Still a long, long way to go though.

Not great to watch, but I genuinely thought Lincoln were worse then us somehow.

That would have been a good point, if we had been winning at home, but we needed 3 points today. Some positives, I think we have some decent players, still don't think Jones is using them correctly.

As for Leaburn, he does come across as though he's too big for it. I'm of the opinion that I'd be happy to see him go. He's never gonna stick around here long term, and we will never be able to build a team around him. Hopefully a big offer comes in and we can improve in other areas of the pitch.

Concerns me that Jones has taken any positives from that, but at this point its out of our hands, so not much to be worried about.

Fair play to anyone who went

The only good thing about that was listening to well informed and articulate commentator who knew when to speak and when to keep quiet.

Otherwise utter shite with our brand being slightly less smelly than theirs.  We were better than Tuesday in that we had some width but that’s like saying a kick in the nuts is better than a poke in the eye. Fast approaching “can’t be bothered anymore”.

If Ahadme is a league 1 standard striker, I am the Archbishop of Canterbury.
And he's out of a job too!
  • Ultimately you have to ask the question, ' Did I enjoy that, was I entertained?' and the answer sadly is no. You can look for excuses, it was too windy, we have got too many players out injured etc etc. However, you can't polish a turd (although Jones post match interviews try). It's just so dull, week in, week out. It's not going to change. This is Jones ball. He has to go. The sooner the better.

Thought we played a bit better than recent away outings, though the bar is very low. This season already feels very much gone tbh.  It was very difficult conditions with a swirling wind that increasingly become an issue in the second half. Can’t fault the effort and commitment given in my opinion, we just play a way that looks very unlikely to score goals so you are always nervous of conceding.

Really strange ground with open sections that must have made the wind a nightmare. And the rows of terraced houses walk back to the station after is identical to that of Gillingham but without the discarded sofas outside the front windows you get down there.

Brilliant turnout of 650 with all things considered but I was particularly comfortable with the dogs abuse being dished out to Alan Campbell from the second he started stripping off. I know he is not flavour of the month and has been poor so far, but it was too ott imo.

Anyway, crazy journey there that involved 4 trains to Newark and then a 40 min taxi, but just grateful to get home without too much drama. AFKA Jnr’s run of no away wins in 5 years continues.

    Very strange season this.

Leaburn needs time and patience not slagging off.

Can this be applied to all players and not just ones we like though?

I had a good day out regardless of the football.
Got to spend some quality time with my lad, lots of will we make it / won’t we make it drama.

Met and shared a taxi with a lovely father / son from North London, the poor lad was the only Charlton fan in a school full of Arsenal fans.

New ground for me ticked off, got to have a chat with a few lifers along the way like @Badger and @Chippycafc

Train home sat near a group on the piss I recognise from going decades. They had a great time and absolutely sure it would have been no different had we won or lost. That’s what it’s all about.

This club gets me ridiculously down at times, today I separated the football result outcome from influencing my day enjoyment outcome and I feel healthier for it!

Still think we’re screwed at as a club though!
Good to see you and your lad, glad you enjoyed the day, at least we didn't lose.

    What does this mean ?
It means we are shit and Leaburn is also shit, Mr clever.
I don't think anyone was trying to be smart Buttle, it was a genuine inquiry because to sounded like you were there and saw something off camera, so were you there and what did you pick upon ?

It certainly seems they were. Leaburn was laughing at full time when being criticised. That's what I'm getting at. He thinks he's the bollocks but is proving to be a shit footballer who doesn't want to play for us.
Where you there mate, I didn't see that or hear the criticism, not saying you are wrong at all but shocked if Leaburn is responding like that.
Yes mate. We were both there and he laughed at the criticism.  Seems to think he's something special. But believe me. He's not.
So this “criticism” . Would it have been criticism of the “ “*** off, Lesburn you lazy **** “ type? See, I can’t quite imagine it was anything else. So how else do you expect a 20 year old to “react”? Come over and humbly ask you for advice ?
Yes but it's alright to call Ahadme a useless see you next Tuesday isn't it.
    But he is  :#

Enjoyed this game much more than the last few
as despite the terrible conditions, they worked hard and tried to get in down and play. The return to 3 ATB made us more assured too and thought both sides got what they deserved from the game.

Did anything actually happen in that game? Can't remember even a half chance for either side.
Well, according to the stats there was one shot on target each. I can remember theirs - AMB spilled it - but I have no idea what ours was. Watched the "highlights" at the end of the game and they didn't show this mysterious effort on target then either.

And how many more games does he get with that excuse, he's given a hell of a free pass, that can't be denied.  I notice him being out a year and not fit didn't effect his game against an u23 and non league side. Taylor missed Pretty much the whole of last season and seems to be doing ok.

He's made 12 first team appearances and two u23 since the good and much praised doctor Will  declared him fit to play, so 3 more league games to take it to 15? That takes us to just over a quarter of a season.

Everybody's favourite whipping boy Ahadme was being called a donkey and slated on his first appearance back from an injury that left him hospitalised. I don't care much for the love in Leaburn gets, was a talent for sure, not so much currently, when he's good he's good when he's shit he's shit same as every player, so maybe let's judge all players as fairly as Miles eh?
  • Can I please make a public apology for my OTT reaction to Leaburn earlier in the thread, I appreciate he has not had a good last year what with his injury and should have been more sympathetic, hopefully all will end well for him…🙏

That's good enough for me. I don't have any insider knowledge but there is no smoke without fire and am wondering if a gentlemen's agreement has already been done for a move in January, it would explain the top heavy nature of out front seven, also Leaburn's performances and his reaction today.
Make shit up and post it.
Sporadic, I certainly didn't make things up in this post. I wasn't at the game and didn't see anything on the stream, so if somebody is there and claims this is what happened then I'm liable to think that something did occur. On the question of 'gentleman's agreement', once again when CM put this deal together, certain posters had seen an early draft of the pitch that CM put forward to attract US investors, I am not sure who all the posters were but I seem to recall Leaburn's name being mentioned a potential sale to reassure investors that the club could balance the books without requiring further investment. I think you possibly could accuse me of putting two and two together and making seven with regards to Miles Leaburn's future at this club but as I pointed out, this club is carrying at least six forwards, one of those forwards Matt Godden, was brought from a championship club in to directly replace Alfie May, Gassan Ahadme was allegedly brought in for one million pounds and I will not speculate as to who he was brought in to replace. Putting CM's pitch alongside money being spent and the size of the squad, tell me what do you think is likely to happen ?

Breaking news, the conditions were the same for both teams.

I notice a two or three times Tyreece Campbell made a couple of significant defensive interventions, there were one or two corners resulting.
I was frustrated though that Tyreece did not try to take guys (Hackett mainly) on, get around them to the by line, try a foot race, do a bit of trickery. It was very disappointing, but I think the hesitation shown by Tyreece was down to Jones playing him out of position and emphasising his defensive responsibilities.
He was less than half the player he usually is yesterday, and it opens the door to his critics. I put that down to the manager.

Post of the day, weekend, Month or season. The same posters crying foul against Miles Leaburn are happily ripping holes in Karoy Anderson, Gassan Ahadme and Allan Campbell.

Completely agree. All I want as a fan is a bit of effort and application and although Karoy and Gass aren't  on Miles' level technically and are poor at times at least they put in a bit of effort and look interested. Miles seems to be largely immune from criticism on here and although I may of gone slightly OTT he doesn't appear to want to play for us anymore.

I think we are all guessing as to the nature of Miles Leaburn's response yesterday, but on Tuesday he looked frustrated and out of sorts, I thought at the time that this was down to absolutely no support being offered from a midfield being over-run and as AFKA has rightly pointed out, if you were a forward in Nathan Jones team would you believe that you'd be getting on the end of chance after chance. Nathan Jones after-match interview gave you every indication as to what stat is most important to him, clean sheets, no mention of the failure to create chances, failure to finish the few chances or why we go to hoof ball in desperation. Be it Allan Campbell, Karoy Anderson, Gassan Ahadme or Miles Leaburn, it seems to me we are picking on the wrong people, the one who is responsible for their current form is a lot easier to find.

Not me, I’ve defended Anderson, he’s also young and clearly there for his energy and pressing, it’s not his fault Jones didn’t sign and won’t use creative players to take the bulk of the responsibility for that side of our game.

Ahadme too, yes his hold up play needs work but he needs crosses and I don’t think many would disagree that area of our play isn’t good enough in terms of both volume and quality. The rumoured fee doesn’t help, neither did Leaburn’s injury as it meant he was the only target man type who could start games in the first couple of months.

Allan Campbell has been disappointing considering he’s in his mid 20s and was a big part of Luton’s Championship playoff winning season. However like Anderson the other side of it his game is about running and effort, he’s not there to be creative, to run at players or to score goals. Doesn’t deserve abuse but criticism is fair, he’s supposed to be one of our “elite 8” as the board would call it but he’s looked like an very ordinary L1 midfielder.
