Driving to the Black Forest with a couple of mates for a week in late May. I think Germany is a very underrated destination. We've spent nights there en route to Budapest and decided we'd like to see a bit more of it.
Does anyone have specific recommendations for that area?
Yes - Lichtenstein castle and Hohenzollern castle are both proper fairy-tale places. Bad Wildbad is a nice town (with a funicular railway!) and a great viewing platform in the woods. Bad Liebenzell is also very picturesque. This is the hotel we usually stay at, cracking place, but the showers are a bit snug... https://www.zordel.de/
Cheers @Algarveaddick , somehow I missed this first time. I'll check out your recommendations, but one of my mates is a portly gentleman so the snug shower might be a deal-breaker for him (if I tell him)
going to a wedding in Hungary. it's in a small town on the Ukraine border.
We're going to drive there in whatever new car i buy in the summer
How many days do you plan to take driving there, @cafcnick1992 ? It can be done in two if you share the driving but it'll knacker you. Three is much more enjoyable, and there are some decent towns to stop in en route.

And to add a local perspective, if you consider transit through the Czech Republic rather than Austria, I'd advise against it. You will encounter more twats per kilometer, and certainly more trucks, as CZ has lower motorway taxes, so all the dodgy Bulgarian and Turkish trucks choose to come through here rather than Austria. (But if you use the car-sleeper, see above, you will only be on the D5 or D8 for about an hour, and that's bearable.)
Got a 20 night cruise up above the artic circle in July which I’m really looking forward to, certainly will be different as we normally do warm cruises, don’t think this will be though.
Also around new year eve ‘25 (so just qualify I hope) we will be flying out to New Zealand for around a week to 10 days touring / sightseeing, then boarding a 61 night cruise from Auckland to Tokyo followed by a 4 day tour of Japan hopefully will be fun.
We're off to the arctic circle (Tromso) in February. Should be toastie.
This year Mrs TT and me are riding our bikes to the Czech Republic for an Indian motorbike rally. We've not been able to do a big trip for some years, so looking forward to it, although it might be a shock to our now aging bodies.

My wife doesn’t ride a motorbike, she’s my bitch on the back. We rode my Harley down to St Tropez when we were in our early 60’s with no bother. Took our time with an overnight stop in Dijon 👍🏻

I would pay to see the look on my wife's face if I told her we were going on holiday on a motorbike. She won't even go in my old MG. Managed to drag her out in it last summer (first time in years) to Otford and she hated it.

You sure it’s the transport and not the company? :-)
Got to go to Nebraska in June for a family wedding. Not sure if that counts as a holiday or not. But I intend to try to slot in a visit to another state not previously visited. 46 done, so there's a choice of 4: Delaware, Alaska, Connecticut or Vermont. Thinking Delaware at the moment....

Not being much into motorbikes myself I had to Google that. I thought we are about to be invaded by a fleet of tuk-tuks or something. 😉

Lipno is nice.
@PragueAddick We've biked to Cesky Krumlov before via Vienna and Prague via Nuremburg, I think that was 1989. I'm sure that much has changed in that time.
If you fancy being introduced to a couple of Indian Motorbikes, I'd happily buy you a beer or a cuppa.

I really need this two weeks in the sunshine
We're looking forward to our week in Tenerife in early March after the cancellation of our October break due to Mr F's hospitalisation.
Hope Mr F doing well. And you too, of course!
