The camargue is good for wildlife, especially flamingos, if you go at the right time of year.
We stayed in Collioure and Le Grau too for a couple of nights for beachy stuff and rented bikes - you can ride easily along the coast (Espiguette beach is huuuge) and inland along the canal towpath. All of it is flat so easy for families to cycle.
How old are the kids and what are their interests? Will you hire a car? I always like south western France as you have great beaches and tons of cultural stuff too. Aigues Mortes is lovely, there are ancient castles in the Pyrenees foothills, Queribus, Peyrepertuse etc, Albi is worth seeing, Carcassonne will appeal to kids as well as adults albeit it's a bit kitsch, and if you have a car Arles, Uzes and Le Pont du Gard are excellent places.
They are 10 and 12. They are very outdoorsy kids. Like sports, nature, wildlife and activity. We have only once done a beach/hotel type holiday with them and they loved it as the kids club had tonnes of activity. Otherwise we have taken them to more "alternative" places on the whole. Yes, we always hire a car.
My wife wants to flop by a pool and this year I am finally caving, but wherever we go needs more than that or me and the kids will get bored I think!
Will look into your suggestion above which sound good. Ta.
What about Eurocamp type holiday, we used to do these when the kids were younger. Always in great locations for exploring with some having their own beech. We always enjoyed them.

Although the French ones you have to wear budgie smugglers, you cannot wear shorts type swimmers.

On all the major holiday companies websites you can filter in hotels with water parks. Find one that is in an area close to external places you would want to visit. Wife flops by pool, you and kids hit the slides and some other days you go off exploring
Morning, I'm off to Valencia for 10 days in Aug with my wife and 2 daughters 19 and 17. We're staying in an apartment in Eixample which looks like it is in the centre. Any advice on places to go or suitable restaurants for families on a bit of a budget. Any advice welcome. Thanks 👍
We are also on a luxury cruise in early July from Southampton 20 nights mostly Norway including the north cape, returning to Tilbury which is a first. 700 people looking forward to it as hopefully after an operation on my foot on Thursday I might be able to walk more than 2500 steps, mind you got 6 weeks on having my foot above my heart as part of my recovery process, that should be fun.
Has anybody on here ever holidayed in Toronto? Would consider a couple of days in Quebec or Montreal while there, but most sites I am visiting re sights and experiences are predominantly focused on the Niagara Falls…

Had never heard of the flamingos down there - daughter is obsessed with flamingos so might have to go on the 'save up for' list!

A decent place to travel to with lots to do?
Cheers
I lived there last year.
You would exhaust Toronto pretty quickly, but Montreal is fun. Buffalo is only 90 minutes away if you wanted to catch a Bills game at the right time of year.
Not sure how much driving you want to do, but Detroit is 3 hours away and I think is a really interesting City. Got some brilliant car and Motown museums if you're into that kind of thing.

Hopefully you won't need it but take plenty of Imodium etc just in case. It was extremely windy when we went (I don't think it always is as bad as when we were there) - so be v careful in your first few days as the high wind meant I got burned, despite being relatively used to strong sun from my time overseas and only a few months since we had been in Cyprus

…and be careful if you use the sea. Very strong waves and currents…and no life guards when I was there.

oh yes, it was not possible to go in the sea when we were there. The pool was freezing too because of the wind - I braved it a couple of times but was limited to breaststroke as couldn't take the freezing water going into my ear when I turned my head to breathe

Feeling flush? Checkout the flight experience in the Lancaster, but book very early.

@Pavoren007 Yes but a long time ago. We had a fabulous time in Toronto and also hired a car for one day and drove to Niagra which was a superb experience. We then moved on to Quebec City for 5 days which is probably one of my favourite trips and while there, took a full day trip on the Saint Lawrence river whale watching. Loved Quebec.

Been told it’s windy and the beach is virtually red flag all the time, thanks for the heads up

That sounds great. Did you have to fly to Quebec from Toronto? That city looks amazing. 👍

Not done it, but it's on my bucket list one day.

The scouse wankers will be wearing their colours all over Europe this summer.
