  • Getting some building work out of the way between January to April, then a couple of short trips arranged, firstly to Istanbul in April and then a group of us are meeting at a friend's villa near Alicante in May.

Big one planned at the moment is in September when my wife and I are walking the Camino Frances route from St Jean Pied de Port across the north of Spain to Santiago de Compostela. 800 km over 6 weeks. Did it for the first time in 2017 shortly after retiring. Doing it again for my 70th and have managed to persuade 3 out of 4 sons to walk the first 10 days with us, including day 1 over the Pyrenees from France into Spain. Really looking forward to this and hoping the joints can still handle the distance!

May aim for a fly and flop holiday later in the year.
    Wow, that is some walking!

Love puerto calero. Went there twice last year. Villa first time, Costa calero second time,
  • Booked a villa near Javea for a week in August. Did similar last year and really enjoyed it. May try to squeeze in something else later in the year dependent on getting a good deal.

Bloody love Javea.  Have spent so much time there in the last 10 years.
  • Been thinking about a cruise for the last few years . Looks like we’ll actually take the plunge ( not literally) next year .
  • We have our first cruise in March for a week around the Canaries and Madeira, 5 days in Scotland towards the end of April and 10 days in Sharm El-Sheikh mid September, going to be an expensive year.

3 weeks in Malaysia in January and 2 weeks in Lanzarote at the end of Feb before our first grandchild is born.

Talking of which, there is a race for me to put a Charlton shirt on the baby before my son in law gets there with a Liverpool shirt. After last night's performance I know who just might win 😅
  • have just booked 4 nights in Toronto for start of April Mrs used a companion voucher so go return flights for just under 500 with ba.

any recommendations/tips of what to see/do will do a day trip to Niagara falls as something I've always wanted to see.

  • Booked a week in Portugal the other day for the end of March. It's the Mrs 40th this year so had to treat her so treated myself too. Plus I can't be waiting until July for my holiday so had to squeeze one in.

Off to Barbados on Sunday - first time on a cruise. Really looking forward to it, not least to get away from this crap weather.
A great time of year to go. We're off to Serenity, St Lucia in a month
  • Anyone any recommendations of somewhere to stay in Northumberland (family/young kids).

I’m off to Barbados on Thursday for a few days before joining a 2 week cruise (first timer). Afterwards I’m staying at Sandy Lane for one night before I head to Colombia, Chile, Bolivia,Peru and Brazil. Back at the end of March and hopefully it’s warmed up a bit.
I’m going on a beano to Margate next weekend

I'm looking at Sandy Lane for next winter's holiday.

Love Colombia, wonderful people - I've only ever been there on business and Bogota is an amazing city (as long as you know where not to go!). I do struggle with the altitude though. My youngest and his missus spent three months out there on business and had a great time living there.

Driving to the Black Forest with a couple of mates for a week in late May. I think Germany is a very underrated destination. We've spent nights there en route to Budapest and decided we'd like to see a bit more of it.
Does anyone have specific recommendations for that area?
Yes - Lichtenstein castle and Hohenzollern castle are both proper fairy-tale places. Bad Wildbad is a nice town (with a funicular railway!) and a great viewing platform in the woods. Bad Liebenzell is also very picturesque. This is the hotel we usually stay at, cracking place, but the showers are a bit snug... https://www.zordel.de/

I’ve been to Colombia a few times now and this visit to Barranquilla, Santa Marta (Tayrone NP) and Bogota is just to meet up with friends. I normally have a great time in Bogota and agree it’s a good city if you know where to go (Highly recommended is Carlos Vivos’s night club Cumbia House). I normally struggle with the altitude but for some reason I didn’t on my last visit last year). I’ll let you know about Sandy Lane (the Barbados one) on whether its worth the expense.

I mean some parts of Orpington are okay but that’s the dodgy end of St Mary Cray right??
I went up there once on a Fire engine to put out a burning car.
A group of gypsies said if you try and put that out we will set the dogs on you.
Phoned the police from the Fire engine and told them.
Their reply was leave it to burn and get out.

    We left.
So yeah you could say it's a bit dodgy.
  • We’ve just booked 5 nights in NY over Christmas. Wouldn’t be my first choice of where to spend Christmas Day other than at home but wife and daughter really want to go out there.

A mate of mine goes a couple of times a year and raves about it. It is pricey though!

Extremely pricey but it’s a once in a lifetime treat. They don’t normally do a one night but a friend who has been going there for 40 years put a word in. Also booked into The Cliff restaurant.

Didn't get out of work in time for tonights match, so did the next best thing, watched the second half on Sky and booked a holiday!

So April off for a week in Cyprus and August a fortnight in Lanzarote. May have a look at some Villa's whilst out there as quite fancy a retirement home in the sun to spend long winters with a bit of warmth.
  • Booked a holiday to Majorca for summer holidays.

Nothing most of you lot would look at, but 11&14 year olds love an onsite waterpark.
  • Brighton this month. Rome March, Midlands May, Crete possibly July
