Alex Mitchell is a really top bloke and will be a really popular Charlton player over the next few years imo.

I spoke to his family after the game, his cousins and Dad mainly, and they're all really nice people and go to all the games to watch him. Have nothing but nice things to say about us.

I really hope we can secure Lloyd Jones on a bigger deal, as him and Mitchell are proper Charlton type players and I think we can build something with them.

Nice to hear about the dressing room atmosphere.

Also goes against a lot of what people have said on various threads about how Jones lost the dressing room and dropping Mitchell was a sign that everyone was falling out. Most of that was based on Mitchell speaking to a fan at a point where he’s bound to be annoyed rather than taking a broader view

Very well timed in that sense, presumably the "Jones lost the players" rumour/story has reached a few high up ears and this has quickly been released to try and quash it, or correct it (depending on how cynical you are.)

Which is honestly not actually a terrible idea in fairness.

I would be amazed if that was the case, I think he was being genuine

A player will always come out with a diplomatic message if asked a question that could put a cat amongst the pigeons if he came out with exactly what happened

That goes all professional footballers when dealing with fans and the media.

Mitchell is a proper CB, the kind we've been crying out for in recent years.

As mentioned on Charlton Live, check out the first goal in the Carlisle V Notts County game for a former Charlton CB showing the level we've had.

Just a shout out to this man, he looked excellent at the weekend. Very assured on the ball, was finding decent passes, and didn't look nervous once with the ball, also helped out Ramsay defensively. It might all be very basic to a lot of football fans, but we haven't had a centre back of this quality for a few seasons (excluding Jones).

Such a character as well, I was watching BluesFocus vlog and he seemed to have been winding them right up

If you go to the end at 13:20 he's winding them right up and had a bit of a barmy with Stansfield.

Early doors, but seems an excellent signing

Quality from Mitchell. You love to see it. Giving the biggun to McLean and the away end was class.

  • An excellent player and have been crying out for him for years. Proper hard nut old school CB.  Captain material and puts it all on the line for the team.

Can see why the penalty was given now, having slowed down the replay.

Oddly he looks like he's in the process of putting his arm behind his body, and then changes his mind, to ensure that he's able to block it... Unfortunately for him, there is a huge gap amongst the melee of players, so his actions were easily spotted, had he been "hidden" in a crowd, he'd probably have got away with it.

Good decision from the referee having seen that

It is but imagine the stick he would have got back if we had missed!

Every team needs a few characters like him .reminds me a lot of Jason Pearce.Hes not the quickest and his distribution isn't great but a great bloke to have in your team. Him and Jones are a good pairing.

Did he get the assist for Gillesphey's goal yesterday?

basically seems like the geezer wound the taffs up at any opportunity he got. apparently went over to their fans at the end as well ha

we badly needed an aggressive horrid bastard, one who everyone else hates but if theyre yours you love 'em... an emy martinez... and - probably - utterly horrible and despicable to say it - we needed a bit of scumwall fuck offness

    I like him

(also the valley looks delightful in that vid, I do love our ground, proper sight when it's full)
