I'd have him back. I rate him as a proper defender and better than Macca.

I agree he's not good enough to start, but we need decent cover there, and he knows the club and players.

Knows the club sure but he’s never played with Kaminski or Bree who he’d be interacting with most or Bell, JRC or Kelman (who often shifts out right). That’s half a team

Would be like watching Macca, Mitchell doesn't have the pace or calmness on the ball for this level
Imagine them on either side of Jones in this league 🤮🤮🤮
With Apter and TC playing wing backs .....
I can't decide if that comment's sadism or masochism
  • I don’t think NJ rates Mitchell in league one, I can’t see him rating him good enough for the championship.

I’d consider recalling him as cover for Jones, but would still need another defender with Ramsay and Burkes injuries
  • Genuinely forget he was still our player

Gillesphey was better than Alex Mitchell in league 1. So no he’s not the answer

    Recall.

Has brilliant stats this season in League 1, Plymouths 4th highest rated player, 7.01 match average, in the team of the week 3 times, 78% pass accuracy, 91% in his own half, despite all the nonsense about him not being comfortable on the ball.

He's hard as nails, is a leader, he's ready to play, and the kind of player you want when you are holding on.

No brainer to get him back. The fact we have Gough on the bench and this is even a discussion is bonkers to me.

Just have a read on socials about him, the bloke is a fkn geezer and a leader, we saw this against Birmingham last season ourselves.

Need to remember as well, only just turned 24! If he was one of our academy lads, we would have cut him far more slack.

    Come back home brick head.

I have a real soft spot for him, because he seems like a great bloke to have around the squad, but he has the turning circle of the Ark Royal, and is likely to get done for pace just as badly as Gillesphey unless something's drastically changed in the past few months.

he was prone to dodgy passes too just like Gillesphey

He’d work as a middle cb battling with attackers but wouldn’t work as a wide centreback where we need more faster better on the ball defenders, can tell with the drop off from Bell to Macca would be the same with Ramsay to Mitchell
  • I've watched quite a lot of Plymouth this season for family reasons - most recently at Stevenage this week - and though it's true that Mitchell has made a massive difference to them defensively (especially given Wiredu's early season problems with them) and the fans really like him as a result, the idea that he would be the answer to our defensive problems is for the birds I'm afraid. And while it's true that Plymouth got rid of Gillesphey when they went up to the Championship because they knew he wasn't good enough, the truth is that neither of them is good enough for the Championship. Championship attackers are - by and large - too good in terms of speed of thought and deed. Ramsey, Bell, Jones and Burke are up to it, but they are a good cut (or two) above Gillesphey and Mitchell.
