Yes, we were poor, but if the ref allows defenders to grapple with or push over any player in an attacking position without any consequences then how can you possibly create anything?
A bit depressing that. Flattest of flat performances with a flat dire atmosphere. Felt like a loss. They are putting standing back in the Covered End, but there was nothing today to get you out of your seat all game. How crap is this league if Stevenage are challenging for promotion?
We have no creativity in that side. Small is our only outlet and his delivery just wasn't there today. What has happened to Camara? Is he injured again? We needed somone who could try something different. Why was Lua Lua not given 15 minutes to open them up? Seems Jones prized that clean sheet over entertaining the fans.
Renewed my season ticket last week thinking we will be going for promotion next year. However, we are so poor its going to be a big ask for Jones to turn this around in the summer. We need to offload the majority of this team. The only player who played well today was Hector. Nevertheless you worry with him that he puts a shift in just to get a contract and then switches off. Piergianni should be someone we have on our shopping list. Nobody in the Championship will want him but he is the type of player who can upgrade our defence.
I know we are not safe yet but the only spark of interest left for me this season is seeing Bonne and Taylor getting much deserved dogs abuse at Cambridge. I was hoping they woul keep losing so we could put them in the bottom four, but even that's not happening now as they have won their last two.
I watched the game from behind the home dugout. Believe me Jones was a frustrated and irritated presence on the sideline. My optimistic view is that he knows that survival by any means possible was the only option available when he took over and had produced a team and style that ensures that, as ugly as it is. I don’t think we are a problem defensively. Between Hector, Jones, Gillesphey, Small, REG etc we are decent enough. Although I did like Stevenage’s number 5. Where we are seriously wanting is (if we play 3 at the back) the offensive 6 players. I think Coventry is the type of player who will look better with better players around him. But we desperately need a quality and experienced number 10. Bakinson, May and Anderson are not the answer in what is a pivotal position.
I hope Jones has identified who he wants and needs already and talks are already ongoing. If he is given the funds then we are an exciting prospect for next year and this will appeal to players.
But today’s dross cannot be accepted next year otherwise we are going nowhere fast.
Well we're still unbeaten and yet its not enough for us still. Bolton could only draw at Stevenage on Friday and yet somehow we do the same and it's dogsh*t.
You don't need to be an expert in body language to see that Nathan probably wants to find a table tennis table and slam several players heads onto it so instead he must be gritting his teeth so tightly to just keep him from losing his sh*t before going to Sports Direct.
Nathan has little choice with players but his ability to turn around this team of misfits after what we previously had is miracle. Of course he's not the messiah but at least he knows how important it is not to lose in this dreadful league when your at the crap end of it.
Dobson won man of the match our fans are beyond clueless
No one round taking votes today, been like that quite often. Mostly it will be whoever wants to front up and come up to the lounges especially after poor games, for what it’s worth my vote would have gone to Hector today
I don't think we can blame the ref but he was hard to work out in terms of the consistency of his decisions. He gave some soft fouls and let some harder ones go! I don't think that helps the game in all honesty.
Generally though, Fleetwood away we could explain the lack of quality on the pitch and weather but the last two games we can't and we struggle to control the ball and even pass it! Ok, our opponents haven't been much better but that isn't the point really.
Steve Evans reckoned they must have had 80 or 90% possession because they outplayed us so comprehensively. Yeah, 50% possession Steve mate. He always manages to be ridiculous, I don't know how they put up with him
A very poor quality game where, on the balance of the second half, we were a shade fortunate to take a point and keep only our second clean sheet in 28 games. Some credit is due, however, to Hector and Thomas (notwithstanding the latter’s poor distribution), who dealt very well with several good crosses into the box. Isted also made a few decent saves when called into action.
The only clear cut chance of the entire game fell to Stevenage, whose top scorer, Read, inexplicably headed over the bar from a few yards out when a cross from the right was headed back into his path. We created very little, despite the sterling efforts of Kanu and several good runs and crosses down the left from Small.
Dobbo had an excellent game and, in one short sequence of play towards the end of injury time, made one clearing header and two blocks when the rest of the team were running on fumes. Losing him continues to look like gross negligence on the part of Andy Scott, particularly with Coventry turning in a tepid performance.
Still, we’ll take the point and, with the other teams under threat, with the exception of Cambridge, all losing, we are edging (albeit unconvincingly) towards the safety line. Let’s hope for better next Saturday.
It may be sacrilegious but my view is that Nathan Jones should drop Dobson for the rest of the season. He isn't creative enough to play in that position and we need to leave Coventry where he is as that will be his position next season.
The more games Dobson plays the more I think Jones likes him and he'll be with us next season.
If we end up paying c£500k to buy Dobbo out of his contract to stay with us then I'm done. That even out does the Aneke clusterfuck contract negotiation.

Thank heavens there is someone else who appreciates what Dobson did today, particularly those 2 last gasp goal saving efforts that he made!

I doubt it - Coventry is already playing in his position and Dobson doesn't have the creativity we need as today's game illustrated in spades.
I can’t understand why fans are questioning Jones. We are now about 95% sure of staying up while before he came the rate was less than 50%. Somehow he’s got a tune out of these players and it’s all about next season and I’m just hoped he is backed with some money.
Yes, we were poor, but if the ref allows defenders to grapple with or push over any player in an attacking position without any consequences then how can you possibly create anything?
You create things by having players who can run with the ball, take on & beat the opposition. Players like CBT, JRS, Aribo, Gudmunson, Scott Parker, Claus Jensen.......et al. Jesus, even Jonny Robinson could do a half decent job as a winger.
We have nothing like that. NOTHING. Not one player with any guile or craft. Not one with pace who can beat a defender & put a cross in.
Some credit needs to be given to the defence today for what I think was one of their best performances of the season. Under Appleton they would have cracked many times and even under Jones there have still been quite a few silly mistakes - they certainly dealt better with long throws than against Port Vale.
Steve Evans reckoned they must have had 80 or 90% possession because they outplayed us so comprehensively. Yeah, 50% possession Steve mate. He always manages to be ridiculous, I don't know how they put up with him
Walked up to the game today with a couple of Stevenage fans. They can't stand him either!
For me in our current situation prior NJ joining I couldn’t give a shit how we play, just do enough to avoid relegation, I think (hopefully) we have, this team can bore the pants of me for the rest of the season. Next season is when I become critical if as hopefully planned NJ will have his own team.

You'd not be too far wrong but I can see it happening.
We seem to allow every team to cross the ball without any attempt to stop them. They should have scored from one of them towards the end. Their no 3 Butler put loads of crosses in. Whereas Stevenage doubled up whenever Small had a go. Our opponents' defenders also seem to be able to get a foot to the ball to knock it away from our strikers as they attempt to receive a ball knocked forward. Very frustrating.
as soon as I saw Ladapo on the sheet to start. I thought we would not win. Disappointed with the midfield, especially Coventry. There was very little happening in midfield today and the passing was awful. Even Dobson who worked his socks off showed poor judgement in passing the ball. I thought they were very good at negating whatever we were doing so we basically cancelled each other out, but I do think their chances were better than ours.
I thought the defence was not bad on our part and Hector looks very good.
The very drabness of this game I think was the result of poor passing of the ball

Totally jealous - it is where we should be. Jeremy Sarmiento's last minute winner just takes the piss.

Although not agreeing with that figure.

Still too drowsy to comment on today's fare.
