MATCH THREAD [+POST p11]: Reading vs Charlton Athletic: B.S.M Trophy: Wed 6th Dec 2023 | KO 19.00

Good evening one and all, so it's a knockout starts tonight, and we are away at the "The Madejski Stadium" to play Reading in this shall we say, not entirely popular competition, and following on from their FA Cup defeat yesterday at Eastleigh, (well done The Spitfires reaching the 3rd round), we may be in line for another protest against the current owners, by way of tennis balls onto the pitch, which could be entertaining.
We go into tonight's round of 32 clash after finishing second in Southern Group B, while the Royals topped Southern Group G and had a 100 per cent record in the competition group stage.

Anyway love it or loath it, we are here in a competitive match, and one we could win to progress further, so I will treat it as such...

So, lets see shall we...

Henry Rylah will make his full Charlton debut in tonight, he  has already recorded 16 assists for the club’s academy sides this season.

Four changes from the team that played Gillingham on Saturday with Michael Hector, Tennai Watson and Scott Fraser joining Rylah in the starting line-up.

Corey Blackett-Taylor and Lucas Ness miss out with groin and knee injuries, while Nathan Asiimwe moves to the bench.

Academy striker Patrick Casey is named in a matchday squad for the first time this season. The prolific 17-year-old netted all five goals against Cardiff City’s U21s at the end of November.

It means the Addicks are expected to line-up in a 4-3-3 with Tennai Watson, Hector, Lloyd Jones and Tayo Edun making up a back four in front of Ashley Maynard-Brewer, who makes his 50th Charlton appearance.

Fraser is joined by skipper George Dobson and Louie Watson in midfield, with Rylah and Tyreece Campbell operating either side of Alfie May.

Asiimwe and Casey are joined on the bench by Sam Walker, Terell Thomas, Karoy Anderson, Daniel Kanu and Micah Mbick.

Charlton: Maynard-Brewer; T.Watson, Hector, Jones, Edun; Dobson (c), Fraser, L.Watson; Rylah, May, T.Campbell

Subs: Walker, Asiimwe, Thomas, Anderson, Kanu, Mbick, Casey

Congratulations Henry Rylah making his full debut tonight...
