  • At least the English batsman will be  nice and fresh after 3 1/2 hours in the 35 degree heat.
  • There's been some poor old bowling this morning. Much of it from Wood.

Stubbourness  can be a big asset in a sportsman. Overdone, as it has been with Buttler as skipper, can produce the complete opposite result.
  • Topley is back bowling. Whether that is a good thing we will see!
  • I take that back about Bairstow as he catches Markram on the boundary though his movement looked less than perfect. Even so, he pouched it.

    233-4 off 35

  • Anyone else started to lose interest in this tournament ?

I am a cricket lover but one game a day is just dragging it out.  I am not even looking at the results now , when in the past I would have been sneakily watch the live coverage when at work.
Going to be worse once we're out and there's still a million games left.
  • Big 15 overs. If we can get a couple of quick wickets then we will be ahead. If Klaassen and Miller are still there with four or five overs left then we will be in trouble.
  • Wood has been free runs in every game. Astonished he's playing tbh
  • Couple of wickets now could be crucial

I quite enjoy the other games too but then perhaps the fact I trade on them adds the element of interest that others don't have.

  • Now Willey has gone down after delivering the ball. Hopefully it is just cramp but he's off now. Think I saw Wood having treatment on a finger too!

Lesser of a lot of evils with. We have no other seamers to come in.
  • Topley gets another. Miller caught by Stokes at mid off

    243-5 off 36.3
  • Get Klaassen out and we really are into them
  • Get Klaassen out and we really are into them
But the way our bowlers are going fitness wise Root and Brook might end up having to bowl the last 10 overs
  • 26 balls and 6 wickets for Topley to left handers in this world cup
  • So have we now gone from Root bowling Topley's overs to bowling Woods?
  • Highest score for S.A. in a World Cup vs England

Suspect Rashid will bowl his final 3. Topley will bowl 3 and Atkinson probably 4 which means that we have to find a couple of overs from Wood, Root and Willey (if he can)
  • Could be looking at over rate penalties as well

  • Is Moeen Ali the only member of our squad not to field today for us?
  • 256-5 off 40
  • For a WC competition, this outfield is a disgrace
  • 275-5 off 42

I sincerely hope I'm proved wrong, but there is little recent evidence that England are a good chasing team in this format.
In the 2019 World Cup, England won 6 of 9 group games, 5 of these batting first. The 3 games they lost, they chased.
  • We are getting absolutely pummelled now. Topley goes for 19 in one over.

    306 off 44
  • 315-5 off 45
  • 6 off a no ball ffs.
  • Going to need the highest run chase in WC history.
  • This is becoming embarrassing now. Willey goes for 18 in his over

    333-5 off 46
