Dobson immense as usual . Jones was solid at the back and Watson and Chucks were a handful when they came on .
The less said about Abankwah the better . Reid had him on toast and he looked awful and it’s no coincidence that we looked better when he went off injured .
Enjoyable day . Still not seen us lose at Stevenage .
Chuks made the difference at the end, not only was he physical enough to compete with their defence he was making intelligent and dangerous lay offs, something that Leaburn struggled with. In a way he masked our problems, first half and most of the second it was men and against boys. A lot of our youngsters are just not physical enough to compete in this division, Campbell being the worst culprit especially as most of our attacking play went through him. Stevenage were well drilled, super fit and physical. Their attacking play was one touch into the channels and they got the ball into the area super quick. Our players are technically superior but took several touches before laying off meaning our attacks were slow and easy to defend against. We simply don’t play like a League One team and we’re not good enough to play around these physical teams. We need less youngsters and more experienced lower league players.

Terrible ref, as I said on the match thread, then incredulous reaction of the Charlton fans and players to the handball incident, would have played on his mind, and he would almost be forced to give the next one. As Curbs or Brownie said, if the foul on Tedic had been down the other end, we might not have got the penalty, so the Charlton fans can claim half an assist!
Thought Tedic looked good when he came on, much sharper than at Crawley, while Chuks is immense if you can keep him fit. But defensively there's so much work to do. If anything got Holden sacked, it's this.
Appleton post match saying he’s having disagreements (I took this to mean in a healthy way - not throwing people under a bus) with the sports scientists about upping the intensity of the training since he came in.
He said it’s paying off with how strongly we finished the game. Thinks we could’ve gone for another 10-15 minutes.
Totally agree with Appleton. So often this season our players run out of gas after about 70 minutes. If the so called sports scientists can't see this then they need replacing.
Worth noting, in terms of promotion rivals, that we are currently just 3 points behind Derby and Peterborough, and 6 behind Barnsley, Bolton, Pompey and Wycombe, so it really is all to play for.

With the greatest of respect to him, it’s irrelevant if he disappears again in a month. As good as it is he’s back, he has to stay available even if it’s for some sort cameo for the last 15 minutes. I saw people still referring to him as a cheat code on Twitter when he came on. It’s never ending. I hope he stays fit, but until he does, let’s not all get on the Aneke bandwagon. Time and time again it’s fallen on its arse.
As for the game, I’m definitely in the ‘I’ll take a point’ camp. Massive reservations about Appleton and our new owners in general, but he needs to be given time. That was his first look at them in a competitive match, and will offer a different view to what he’s seen in training. Questions still remain, but I think that’s an important point, as I sense the majority of fans are running out of patience. Extremely important to get a solid few months of wins in now

Previous comments sums us up we try and play too nice rather than accept you have to fight for everything at this level dont blame the ref for the blatant handball it was the Lino’s call and yet the idiot missed it. In my days as a ref if you missed such a blatant thing the league would suspend and retrain you on the basics Same linesman also missed two foul throws in first half chuks changed the game and leaburn is not a sole striker he needs a partner thought out best player was Campbell

If Stevenage had taken the huge chance they had to make it 2-0 it would have been over.
Pleased for Chuks, he looked up for it and considering he has been out for 9 months actually looked sharp.

Does every ref have an assessor watching them? Because if this bloke did he should be struck off. Absolute horror show. Missing the foul on Anderson for the first pen is one of the worst decisions I have ever seen. I'll cut him some slack for the handball, but linesman has to see that.
Would have taken a point beforehand and thought it highly unlikely we'd get one at HT.
Just to put things into context, Stevenage are also one win in seven.

Michael Appleton has an impossible job but he must've realized that when he applied.
Good point at a team higher but no chance of any continuity as the lack of robustness will see the team change every week.
Did May get concussion in training or the warm up ?
Please tell me that people haven't written off a young player inexperienced at this level making his debut out of position in a new team that's been struggling. To any that have, I place no value whatsoever on your opinion

The Beast seems to have given us an edge and a deserved 1-1 result, which I would have taken before kick off after a CBT penalty, one which the ref had his specs on for. So an ok day and nice start for MA…👍

Bringing the experience off the bench helped push us on, dare I say it, we could have done with that experience from the start and its been mentioned on here, but they may yet be a starting place in this team for McGrandles. The lack of experience across the pitch is the reason why we are conceding silly goals and that needs to be addressed.

I looked at the PL scores after our game had finished and actually thought palace had won 1-0!.
