Kinda says it all ready doesn't it, before we were pretty desperate for Egbo to be back in the squad and really missed a right back, now we don't seem too concerned if he goes.

I still think there's a place for Egbo here like McGrandles, Thomas etc. Needs to show his worth in the cup games and when players are tiring, I am expecting to see him in action tonight

Maybe Holden is hoping that leaving Egbo out will light a fire in him and make him really keen to prove his worth. Would love for him to smash it tonight.

Egbo have had a Journeyman career so far and needs to respond by his performances to stake his claim to the RB or RWB position.
Holden's decision and all players need to know their under pressure for the shirt.

At last we seem to have competition.
Hopefully even more by the window shutting even if it may be two in and two out by the end of August.

I was surprised how little Egbo did against Welling. Was a game to showcase attacking side of game.
The thing about the Egbo situation is, maybe DH agrees with this and feels like Egbo needed a reminder that his place in the team needs to be earned. Hopefully it’s the kick up the arse he needs?
Or it could be that he hasn’t fully recovered from his injury yet? It’s really hard to know tbh. Even when players say they’re fully over from an injury, they may not be. But agree, he’s not yet up to his previous level based on the Welling game. And Asiimwe has done pretty well so far. Healthy competition! Edit - as others have said.

I've heard Egbo is still in the plans, I think it really is a case that Asiimwe has done really well in the friendlies and Egbo wasn't converting training to on the pitch.

(There was some twitter stuff about how well he was training in pre-season and that he was feeling strong, fit and sharp but didn't look so good in the games).
There's also, perhaps .... this thing where Asiimewe and Anderson play so well together?
There's such good chemistry between them, maybe Holden wanted to see how they worked together as a unit under the pressure of a League fixture.

Asiimwe, no matter how decent his future prospects, is still only 18 and not the finished article.
No matter how capable we think he is, his game time will have to be managed carefully - and played because Holden wants him to, rather because there's no other choice.

Another specialist RWB may well be signed ....... but keeping in mind the above, it doesn't necessarily mean yet that Egbo is on his way.

This is a minor diversion, but it is a bit about our golden generation.
The synergy between the academy players has been excellent over the past couple of years, and let’s not forget Leaburn is part of that, as is Chin and Henry and Mitchell and Kanu. But I wonder if other development watchers are as intrigued as I am about the Anderson Great Leap Forward.
I ask that, not because Anderson isn’t really good but weirdly because of Jason Adigun. Seeing them come through I always thought that Adigun and Anderson were equally good.
Maybe Adigun is slated to follow in Anderson’s footsteps and we maintain the golden generation unity we have enjoyed thus far.

Adigun was always the one in midfield that stuck put whenever ive streamed any of the youth games

When I saw most of this group live a couple of years back in the FA Youth Cup down at Worthing, it was Adigun that stood out , Anderson was injured and didn't play that night , but Beadle, Asiimwe, Mitchell, Adigun,Kanu, Leaburn and Campbell all started and Rylah and Pat Casey came off the bench.

Wonder if we'll see Toby Bower break through this season as a backup left back?

Hopefully we'll see a few of them in the EFL Trophy.

Adigun was always getting praise over the last couple of seasons and as he is 19 now if by January he hasn't broken into the 1st team squad then a loan would be beneficial as he would then be 20.

Haven't seen this mentioned, but did anyone else clock the way the announcer was trying to get VFR going at KO? Kind of like West Ham do with Bubbles?

Kids will make mistakes, and will need resting from time to time, to allow them time to work on things at the training ground without the pressure of matchdays.

Beadle for example, who's on loan at Oxford, made a mistake for Cambridge's first goal on Saturday

Two things I wanted to say, firstly quiet first  60 or so mins for Fraser who was unsurprisingly man marked by pratley again thinking about this it makes total sense seeing as in my opinion Frasers one limitation is he is one paced so Pratley can keep up

second a quick shoutout to the guy sat behind me who has written off may after 32 minutes because to quote “Bonne is better because he was never this offside”
    He's obviously a good judge of a footballer...NOT!
