Alfie has been outstanding this season, I dread to think what position we'd be in without him. The thing that worries me is that his exploits obviously won't have gone unnoticed by bigger clubs. Will we be willing and able to hold on to him if a big offer materialises in the summer?
As good as he is I can’t see Championship clubs coming in for him, I don’t think his all round game is the standard a club at that level who could pay a decent fee would go for.
As we’ve seen he is quite limited in that he has to play in a front 2 or as a number 10 so that would put a lot of teams off also. Building your team around him at this level is fine but no one in the championship is going to do that
I guess you can never say never but how much would it cost to replace his goals even in L1........ even if we could find such 'hens teeth'. I think our geography together with his age and family were and still are a factor in him being in SE7 in the first place.

As others have said, he doesn't seem to fit into the 433 formation many teams play nowadays.
For me he should be in the no10. He’s the closest we have to a proper playmaker , floats around can cross and play good passes and arrive to school goals. If we’re doing this 532 he should be in front of 2 of the other Dobson/coventry cms

I still think he'd be best off on the shoulder with a big man to feed off, but who knows better than the main man himself.
I suspect Nathan Jones will find a way to accommodate him as he is priceless to us. 20+ goals and still 8 games to go. One of the best transfers we have made outside the Premier league imo.

If he’s not Player of the Season then something is seriously amiss with the voting. Kanu has been great in the last couple of months but if you score 20 plus in a shite team then you deserve it.

He also acknowledged (to my surprise) that he doesn't believe championship sides will show an interest due to his age, and that his best chance of playing at that level is going up next season with us.
I get the impression he's genuinely really grateful/happy to be here, and he will stay here until we outgrow him essentially.
I personally think he's championship quality and hope he gets a chance to showcase himself with us in the near future.

Taking his B license, but thinks he would go back to the building game working for his brother. Re the tunnel jump, was warned to leave his boots on by Tracey but decided as his heels were sore to go in socks, was happy he never injured himself or would have been in trouble with NJ. Was surprised the amount of interest in it especially from Sky Sports. Asked about Dobbo possibly leaving, rather diplomatic with the answer, said he would try and persuade him to stay as they are good pals and his roommate. Shows what a down to earth and generous guy he is, we had an auction for a framed shirt , top bidder was out bid by Alfie who subsequently gave it to the highest bidder, the bidder then matched Alfies bid, and so the Pilgrims hospice will be receiving the proceeds in the next few days.

To be clear I think Alfie is absolutely class and hope he stays here for many years. Was just listing the reasons that it is unlikely a Championship club will come and pay what it would take to get him.
Alfie's goalscoring form has picked up since India sealed the Test match series against England. Having young kids alongside your favourite sport starting at 4am can be harsh!
Izale McCleod had fantastic figures for MK dons and was absolute dogshit as was Andy Gray hope I am wrong but I have followed his career from dot and do not rate him.Ajose had good figures from elsewhere and was the same, I hope I am wrong but Alfie May will do diddly for us.

So some more from Last night , Alfie is is impressed with Thierry Small, said he couldn't believe it when he took his shirt off in the changing room, and wished he had a body like that at 19. So Panutche Camara is the untidiest player in the changing room , drops all his stuff by Alfies feet, then pretends he doesn't understand English when Alfie complains.
Asked whose the best defender he's played against, definitely Ricardo Santos of Bolton, a beast and too good for league one.
Asked him as he's a local lad did he support Charlton like alot of his mates, surprisingly he supports Liverpool. Likes to celebrate goals if even if he didn't score, stopped doing knee slides as it was affecting his heels. Tracey joined the top table for the second half, and spoke about various things, one player she found an apartment for had his rent put up by £400 extra a month because the landlord found out he was a footballer, Tracey was on the case, and got it sorted. She sounds like she has a wonderful rapport with them all , but we already know that. Thierry Small was to be a possible last minute guest, but NJ gave the players the day off yesterday, so he went home to see family.
The boy is still mustard and was always going to refind his mojo. Got a bit of Taylor’s shithousery, Yann’s swagger and intelligence, and SWP’s instincts. Arguably a better finisher than all of them and with probably the best work rate of the lot.
His physique and age would likely stop him stepping up a division but it’s great to have him. Always felt his best position was slightly off the main front man, working the spaces between the lines, running the channels, doing a bit of playmaking, and then running off defenders a little bit unmarked. A nine and a half, if you like.
We wasted him for too many matches this season out wide or asking him to lead the line on his own, otherwise he might already be pushing towards 30 goals.
Didn’t take long for NJ to figure out the best way to bring the best out in him so hopefully we’re done now screwing around experimenting on where to play him and we’ll focus on building the right partnership up top to allow Alfie to thrive because he is a huge asset.

I think it is fair to say that Appleton was dealt a poor hard but he then went on to play it extremely poorly.
Injuries and squad balance can excuse some tactical flaws to a certain extent but the lack of motivation and morale is down to his leadership - more precisely the lack thereof.
