Fair play to Luton who have given the PL a good go this season but it is a bit of a sad indictment that a team with 21 points from 28 games remain so close to safety and could well stay up due to points deductions on Everton and Forest yet to come.2 -

There are 3 exceptional teams this season in Man City, Liverpool and Arsenal.
Spurs and Villa are both hot and cold at the business end of the season and Man utd are the Global brand that are nearly impossible to manage after Alex Hairdryer Fergie time.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer went 18 months without losing away but he was tactically naive said fans in Surrey and Sarawak.
The Ajax manager came in to clean up but Erik van Hag squad is about the 6th best squad in the Premier so why should they beat the United Arab Emirates serial winners across the City ?
At the bottom, the 3 that came up are still the 3 favourites to go down despite the spirit shown by Luton. Losing at home to Sheffield United and snatching defeat from the jaws of victory at Bournemouth will surely see them drop unless Forest implode.
The Elite Premier league is so far away from the EFL now that it's only a short time from 2 up and 2 down coming back.

The last minute equaliser they scored v Forest seemed a huge opportunity missed by Forest to put clear distance between them and so it seems. With Everton likely to be docked again I think Luton will escape.
What's the lowest ever points total to stay up? It seems likely this year will be lower!0 -

To be fair they are working off of different scales (Forest were in the Championship so had an adjusted loss permitted). Plus I would expect the scale of the deduction to be in part due to how big the overrun of losses was.Chris_from_Sidcup said:

Forest's defence is apparently that they delayed selling Brennan Johnson to make more money, which doesn't really hold any water, when they didn't delay buying players.
Teams knew the rules, seems like they were hoping they wouldn't be applied, or they might have a decent enough excuse!0 -

The argument against this that I keep hearing is that if teams know how many points they will get deducted then they will flaunt FFP because the risk of a 3 point deduction is outweighed by the potential 9 points they'll gain by overspending to purchase the one player who will get them those points.Chris_from_Sidcup said:

Forest failed by 34.5m and got deducted 4 points.

There will definitely be uproar because i fully expect them to get off the vast majority of the charges, if not all. For a start some of the charges are the same charge repeated, it's not 115 completely separate charges. In a case so serious the onus will be on the Premier league to prove beyond reasonable doubt that City are guilty of certain offences, and i can see City's very expensive lawyers putting up a strong defence and they'll get off most charges on technicalities.
I'm sure we all suspect they're probably guilty of something but people talking about relegating them i think are way off. They'll probably either end up exonerated or with a minor points deduction and fine.1 -

The FA are right to pull up clubs that are clearly breaching fair play rules, but having these things decided when the season is 75% complete is going to lead to a crazy situation at some point when a team that’s been deducted points gets relegated starts appealing to various courts and we don’t know when the season ends who is going to be playing in the premier league the following season.1 -
