    Southgates record against the big teams is terrible. He can only really point to the Germany Euro 2020 game, and that's arguably the weakest Germany in a long time.

    Fucking penalties. They always find a way to fuck us.

    A great effort from the team. We were the better side and deserved to win, but this is England at the World Cup. There’s always some new horror waiting around the corner.

    Feel so much for Kane. What a weight to carry with you. He’ll be feeling utterly terrible.

    I hope the tone from the press tomorrow is more pride and sympathy than vitriol and repercussions.

    In other tournaments you could point to management errors for the game getting away from us. 

    Don't think that's the case here. Kane's missed penalty was the killer blow for us rather than a poor sub or two.

    Mbappe losing and sulking would be funny too but I'd rather France than Argentina.

    Griezman's delivery set them apart.
    Giroud does it again.
    We just need a little more belief.
    If we score the penalty I think we go on and win.
    Southgate did little wrong. 
    Close but France are a very good side.

    Good performance against a French side that will probably win the whole thing. So close yet that's knockout football. No one to blame, just a sickened. Horrid way to lost it but what a performance compared to the Croatia and Italy matched previously.

    It's not easy to score two pens in one game, especially when it's your team's keeper. I can't believe they got that second when we were on top.

    I'm resigned now to never seeing us win the World Cup. Never get a better chance.

    We can hold our heads high. Thought we were the better overall team.

    Sets up an unusual semi final which I think will be spicey, France v Morocco. 

    Wasn't to be chaps, at least we didn't go out with a whimper.
