His performances mean he deserves to start and it will send out the wrong message if he doesn’t, in my genuine opinion. He’s played himself into the team, it’s his to keep now. Let’s hope he continues this vein of form and kicks on. It’s a big year for him and it looks like he’s ready for the challenge.12

Astonishing really. I genuinely didn’t think there was a player in there when his confidence was shot to pieces and he was leaping out of tackles and phoning it in.

Always thought TC had the ability
His confidence was shot to pieces under Appleton / at that time (Gills away) he needed a comforting arm around him and probably a loan away from the shit going on at the club at the time
What we see now is someone who had bulked out and is fulfilling his promises under a manager who believes in him4 -
His skill and ability has never been in doubt. Superb work these past few months from him and background staff who have clearly helped to improve his confidence and physicality.No doubt he will improve on last season's 2 goals and 5 assists in the league.1

It is interesting that Jones felt he could make Dobbo an attacking midfielder. He certainly seems to have worked out Campbell's best position. It wouldn't be a one way thing though, the player has to respond positively which Campbell seems to have done. Now it is a case of how far the lad can go.0

Personally I am pleased for Tyreece. Having watched him come through from quite a young age I felt he could always trouble opponents and had a particularly good ‘wriggle’ in tight spaces near the goal line just beyond the right hand post.
I know his goal yesterday was from further out, but that slightly to the left attacking position was a strong feature of his development.
I still don’t see Tyreece as a tackling back player, a bit like CBT in that respect, but unlike CBT he is now prepared to mix it, try to win the ball, and take the pain high up the pitch which CBT didn’t tend to do.
Maybe Tyreece has learned it from Karoy who is certainly prepared to mix it when necessary.
Our academy products continue to do us proud, and I have a feeling that Zach Mitchell is also going to become a good player with a decent career in the game.

Massive confidence boost for Tyreece that Jones could see more and wanted to use him in a different role. Plenty of pacy tricky wingers never come to much because it’s all they’ve got in their locker. They don’t offer enough often enough. Jones saw more and instead of marginalising him or moving him on brought him into the centre of his plans. Tyreece must feel ten feet tall. He’s obviously taken everything on board, put in the work and now looking like he’s first eleven.4

It is but he’s proved he can do it. He’ll certainly get dips in form, every player does but it’s looking to me like he’s got a good attitude and is smart enough to learn. Jones has completely transformed his role and attitude. I don’t think NJ allows players to coast.MuttleyCAFC said:

As I mentioned it would take a brave man to drop him. However I’ve seen enough football to not be surprised if Godden will start next week, and I don’t think it would send out the wrong message if that was to happen.Wigan away in the league, is much different to Portsmouth at home in a preseason friendly, and I can see Jones going for the experience and combativeness of Godden (if fit) and bringing TC on later against tired opposition when the game opens up.

The transformation in just a few months is quite astonishing. Never in a million years did I have him down as a player who would be muscling players off the ball and even winning headers against center backs.Has clearly worked very hard in the gym over the summer.4

Providing he keeps this up in the real stuff this uptick is something a lot of fans should keep in mind talking about youngsters in future. They’re still growing and developing. Kanu bulked up massively last year and TC clearly has too, without injuries I think we might have seen a similar thing with Miles too.6

I agree with this. From any kind of development to playing in the first team, especially reasonably regularly, is the most massive step up of all. Virtually any of our young players who have come through, even for just a little bit such as Josh Davison and Jacob Roddy, have been pretty steadfast and gutsy.
A couple that haven't been spoken about a lot these past couple of weeks are Kanu and Anderson. I have such admiration regarding the way they're going about their business. Whatever level they eventually settle at, they want to play, and they want to win, and I am glad they're at Charlton.

On the few occasions TC got the ball to feet near Santos, Santos's defending reminded me of a Elephant trying to stamp on a bee, could clearly see he wanted to part of TC if the ball was on the deck

Never seen Santos in the slightest bit flustered ever before, but TC definitely rattled him today. He put in a great shift and was relentless.10

He’s never going to score 20+ in a season but he’s a right pain for CB’s. Can totally see Jones vision with him6

I am probably going to be reading too much into things but I think that having someone like Santos to play against actually did Campbell some good today. I don't think anyone would argue TC has struggled to carry some of that preseason form into the "real" games but he had Santos on a plate and he knew it.hermann said:Who had TC winning the battle with Santos on their bingo card for the season?
Santos was keen to absolutely clear Campbell out at some point - and Campbell knew it. Having an experienced and physical CB unable to lay a metaphorical glove on him seemed to give him a confidence boost which hopefully he can carry forward.12 -

I just don’t think he has that natural goal scoring instinct that you want as a starter on a team looking for promotion. I would prefer Godden starting in the short term until Miles gets back.1

I thought our front two were a massive thorn in the side of Boltons defence today, really worked hard and enabled our finishers to come on and affect the game. Just want them both off the mark and it’ll be a massive boost to them.14

Kind of agree but he also tires out defences which creates space for Aneke and Godden when they come on. Played well today. Indeed as an option he could play alongside Godden, as Godden is quite physical and decent in the air.1

Against Orient and now Bolton there have been a handful of times where there has been a loose ball, not in the best of positions, but the opposition has been closer to the ball than Tyreece - Each occasion, Campbell has used his pace to nip in ahead of their player.seth plum said:I repeat what I wrote last week, Wellens of Leyton Orient name checked Ty as a threat.
His pace is such a weapon, just needs to fine tune it!!
Bolton were so lucky yesterday it was Adahme that led a counter instead of Tyreece2 -
