Swindon are working with a DoF model so any previous concerns Garner had about Bradford re: wanting control over transfers may longer be the case 4-5 years later.
Young, progressive and attack minded coach coming in. Will he succeed? No idea, but writing him off before he steps through the door is weird.
Yes exactly.
How is this appointment a ‘shambles’. It’s not like we have appointed some complete random unknown.
We’ve appointed a well thought of young coach, who plays possession based, attacking football - and did well in his most recent role. Exactly what TS is looking for.
Its obviously a personal preference, but I am at least quiet looking forward to seeing someone try and implement something different to the turgid, boring ass, football with have seen in recent seasons.

Pragmatism at the way the game has evolved perhaps.

He didn't refuse Bradford because of control over transfers.
He wanted control of the team, could be seen as a bit of a difference.
How are you lot writing him off before his even been confirmed? He took a team with seven players when he arrived, to the play offs. He has experience with youngsters, working with the youngsters at palace who are now in the prem. We are in league 1, what are you expecting, Pep or Klopp? Wake up, we ain’t very good, and this is what level we are at.
This is about where I’m at and willing to give him a chance and wish him all the luck in the world but disagree that this is the level we are at. For starters I think Taylor would have been a better appointment and has a promotion on his CV. However I do think the pond we were fishing in was restricted by TS and his recruitment set up. On the plus side Swindon barely had a team before kick off last season but made the play offs. Good luck Ben, you are going to need it.
Mate we are currently a mid table league 1 team, that lost to Accrington Stanley home and away last season and got dicked by Cheltenham at home. Who are we going to attract? Matt Taylor may have been an option but may have turned us down or we turned him down. Who knows! Good luck to Garner, I bought my season ticket weeks ago and will be there none the less. Some need to calm down.
All I can say is his interview must’ve been a blinder. Sandgaard has got some serious explaining to do in order to get the support back onside. Already said I’m not impressed with this and now won’t be renewing my ST. This geeza couldn’t even get Swindon out of L2. How’s he gonna get us into a position where we’re contenders. Scrapping the bottom of the barrel springs to mind. Good night … Totally bemused with this appointment.
"he's a phenomenal person. He's a top, top coach, his attention to detail is unreal and he sees things that we don't see. He's a class act all around".
Very much focused on developing young players. Similar back ground to Beale in that he has a lot of coaching experience despite being quite young.
Knows the area as well so would pass the sat nav test.
I've little faith in Sandgaard but come on chaps let's give the new bloke a chance. Big opportunity for him and getting named managers with success was unsuccessful. It is underwhelming after we've whipped ourselves up recently over the likes of Beale and Taylor but who knows he's a young bloke with non Charlton connections and seems to have done well from a poor starting point at Swindon.
As has been said we're an average/ mediocre established 3rd division side at present with some potential but not going to have divine right to necessarily get big names.
If the player recruitment turns out to be shit this pre season then we can have the hump but managerial appointments are a lottery and none of us truly know who would work out as proved when 99% of us demanded Jacko got it and many were pleased with Adkins.
Let's get wholly behind whoever comes in and the players. We support the club after all.
“We should have kept JJ”… the football under JJ was some of the worst I’ve ever seen. If it wasn’t for his Charlton history he would have been hounded out the door.
”I really wanted Beale”… a coach who’s never managed.
“This feels like a Slade move”… how exactly!? Is Ben a journeyman manager with nothing to prove?
FFS - let’s all get behind the manager, the team and TS. It wasn’t that long ago that we nearly didn’t have a team to support!
The entitlement of some of you lot is hilarious. We're a mid table league one club, we've just picked up a manager that is young, improving and plays an attacking game.
We're not Premier League or Championship anymore. Beale or Taylor may have been more exciting, but there's every chance other clubs can pay them more at the level above.

Loyal supporter etc.
Listening to this. Swindon fans sound absolutely gutted.

him, but realistically will he make it past Christmas?
Some people have just decided he can't do anything right and can't wait to jump on him nowadays.
People would have been delighted if Jackson had stayed on, and Garner has shown a lot more promise in his managerial career than Jackson has.

I will give him 100% support and hope he does well, but he seems like we don’t really have much of a plan on the football side under TS.
Hoping I’m wrong and we push on now, and at least we’ve got someone in by the end of May and he has 6 weeks to try and get a starting XI together
