How are you lot writing him off before his even been confirmed? He took a team with seven players when he arrived, to the play offs. He has experience with youngsters, working with the youngsters at palace who are now in the prem. We are in league 1, what are you expecting, Pep or Klopp? Wake up, we ain’t very good, and this is what level we are at.
This is about where I’m at and willing to give him a chance and wish him all the luck in the world but disagree that this is the level we are at. For starters I think Taylor would have been a better appointment and has a promotion on his CV. However I do think the pond we were fishing in was restricted by TS and his recruitment set up. On the plus side Swindon barely had a team before kick off last season but made the play offs. Good luck Ben, you are going to need it.
"he's a phenomenal person. He's a top, top coach, his attention to detail is unreal and he sees things that we don't see. He's a class act all around".
Very much focused on developing young players. Similar back ground to Beale in that he has a lot of coaching experience despite being quite young.
Knows the area as well so would pass the sat nav test.
Averaged close to 60% possession in League 2 last season. For comparison Ipswich and MK Dons had a very similar percentage.
Key for me is getting him the players he needs. You're not going to make a possession style work nevermind be effective with Stockley as a lone striker, Gilbey in central midfield etc.
Edit: they were also the top goalscorers in League 2, and that's with Williams and Davison in their squad.
See how it goes I suppose. We need to drop the entitlement of expecting a name I guess. It ain’t what we wanted but I can’t be arsed to be upset about it. We are a mid table league one team.
I’ve 99% thought Beale would never be coming here, a lot of wishful thinking, he’s not coming down to league 1, as other have said if true , this is a reality check of where we are, and who we can attract.
All coming together now, some palace connection so that's the Gallen link, knows what a high press is so that's the Sandgaard box checked. Swindon finished higher than we did in our league's so that's the ambition sorted.
We'll have to see how Garner does. As someone who has made a big case for Taylor, I am struggling to see exactly why Garner is favoured over him. Unless, of course, Taylor turned us down. Their respective records:
Taylor W 95 (45%) D 63 (29%) L 55 (26%) - Average point per game 1.634 Garner W 34 (38%) D 22 (25%) L33 (37%) - Average point per game 1.393
I think some people have totally lost perspective of where we are as a club. How the hell can we attract a big name manager. Seeing the mess Swindon were in was surprised to see them in the play offs so welcome Ben and good luck.

Just need to get behind the manager and his team and hope he does well.
Swindon are working with a DoF model so any previous concerns Garner had about Bradford re: wanting control over transfers may longer be the case 4-5 years later.
Young, progressive and attack minded coach coming in. Will he succeed? No idea, but writing him off before he steps through the door is weird.
Yes exactly.
How is this appointment a ‘shambles’. It’s not like we have appointed some complete random unknown.
We’ve appointed a well thought of young coach, who plays possession based, attacking football - and did well in his most recent role. Exactly what TS is looking for.
Its obviously a personal preference, but I am at least quiet looking forward to seeing someone try and implement something different to the turgid, boring ass, football with have seen in recent seasons.

Pragmatism at the way the game has evolved perhaps.

He didn't refuse Bradford because of control over transfers.
He wanted control of the team, could be seen as a bit of a difference.

New chapter.
Loyal supporter etc.
Listening to this. Swindon fans sound absolutely gutted.
