The game's gone unfortunately. Blake was desperate to take a wicket by trying something different. I don't quite understand why the ball wasn't thrown to Evison - he is a genuine all rounder.
The whole game hinged on Stevens' injury - he was on 18 off 15 at the time and we were a batsman short in the line up anyway plus, of course, we lost his bowling. The other aspect of our game that has been really below par is our fielding - it has been awful at times.
I can’t honestly believe how poor George Linde is. The Ball he got a wicket was great but apart from that he seems to just chuck it in and hope for the best. Don’t get me started on that innings he played too... Really hope we are looking at ways getting out of having him next year.
Ideally South Africa will call him up for the Test series, and give us Rabada in return
On a more positive note, Joe Denly's nephew, Jaydn, has been playing for Kent U18s against Hants this week in a 3-day Championship match. The game didn't start too well for Jaydn as he was out for a duck in the first innings but he then returned bowling figures of 9-5-14-5 in Hants first innings, scored 82 in Kent's second innings and finished the game with 21-6-36-4 in Hants second innings. Jadyn definitely has the potential to follow in his uncle's footsteps albeit that he is a bit different in the sense that he bats left handed and bowls left arm orthodox spin.
Wasn't able to watch the stream after 3pm but came home to a very disappointing result after decent innings by Blakey & Ollie but a very special ton from our new lad.
Hadn't realised that Stevo retired hurt & wonder whether we'll see him again in a Spitfire's shirt.
After years of being pretty bulletproof, Stevo has had a terrible season. It does feel that his body has finally had enough
His shoulder is a serious injury, and he was still in pain when he bowled for the first time in 8 weeks (a month ago); it was great to watch a master at work up-close though, even if he was rusty. He's older than I was when I had to give up playing due to injuries....
Sigh...no trains on the London Bridge to Lower Sydenham (via Lewisham) line due to engineering works, so will have to go to Beckenham Hill or Beckenham Junction instead
Hampshire happily milking the Kent bowlers. Hard to see exactly from my angle, but Robinson seemed to miss a stumping chance
It was a chance - all I would say is that it looked like Qadri's arm ball that kicked on the surface and both Gubbins and Robinson played it as if it was going to turn the other way

Contrast that to say Warwickshire's Kai Smith (plays for Sandwich in the Kent League and who is a keeper batsman but who isn't keeping in this game) who has batted at 9 in both his Royal London games (but not actually made it out to the middle in either of them).
This is down to the Hundred legacy - batsmen such as Crawley, Billings, Cox, Leaning and DBD are all missing and with Denly, Stevens and O'Riordan are all injured, the only other fit members of the squad (Logan, Podmore and Singh) are all bowlers.

None who are consistently making scores. The nearest one would be someone like Joe Gordon who has hit three tons in the Kent Premier League in the last month or so. I see George Ealham has taken a couple of catches as sub - he started the season batting at 3 and bowling a bit but now he bats at 8 and is used more as a bowler.
