Sam Lavelle is the brother of a friend of @Len\'s_little_girl. She told me in advance this transfer might happen but I had strict instructions to post nothing on Charlton Life.
Decent signing I think who could get better.
How could anyone have advance notice we left everything to the last minute..........

According to the BBC website he signed at 11:30 pm. Earlier in the day or a day or two earlier is technically 'in advance'
She told me at 10:51am yesterday that it had fallen through but texted me at 6:12pm to say it was happening.
People are complaining on here that we have left all our transfer dealings to the last minute as if we were in some way slacking and not getting on with the job. Don't you realise that participating in a transfer window is like playing poker.Every club is trying to get the best deal and holding back until they can get the best price or a replacement for the player that is being moved out. Finally in the last few days, the cards get played and the inevitable frantic activity of yesterday takes place. I am sure that Steve Gallen had a list of targets way in advance, but unless we want to pay over the odds by making purchases early, we are left to play our hand as the game comes to a conclusion. I think we did pretty well, but as always, time will tell.
Really pleased to see us bring in a highly thought of already solid defender, BUT, and there is a but, I hope that Deji also gets game time this season and does not see his 1st team chances totally evaporate now that Sam has joined us. I hope both get a chance to develop and deliver for us alongside Innis and Famewo with Pearcy lending his invaluable experience to the lot of them.
A season of u23s for Deji alongside Pearce will do him the world of good. He’s an excellent mentor and will talk him through the games

Deji played LCB for the u18’s so I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s Famewo’s understudy
I seem to recall the argument was that right footed CBs could play on either side, but left footed ones grow so used to playing on the left, that they struggle with playing on the right!

I am right footed and played all along the back line

I've got a good feeling about this signing. Dont really know why - but just feels like the type of player who turns out good for us. Sort of player Powell would have signed ahead of the title season (Matt Taylor but younger).

Overall, I like it.
