Just read this article and sooo wished I hadn't.  :s

    https://www.nottinghamforest.news/2021/08/29/report-nottingham-forest-flop-harry-arter-set-for-city-ground-exit/

Arter has fallen behind Ryan Yates, Jack Colback, Cafu, James Garner and even youngster Tyrese Fornah in the pecking order. With that in mind, letting him head out on loan makes perfect sense.

The only negative to this deal is that it’s not a permanent deal. Forest will, however, be able to offload a percentage of his wages to Charlton once the deal goes through.

He will go down as one of the biggest flops in Forest history and it’s a massive disappointment that he’s not been able to showcase his talents to the club.

Nigel Adkins must be aware of what he is getting himself in for. Arter has looked way past his best whenever he’s pulled on a Forest shirt and offloading him makes perfect sense.

    Misery loves company.
Wasn't Carl Tiler one of the biggest flops in Forests history as well.  In fact old big'ed himself almost balmed him for their relegation and himself for signing him.

Arter was a very, very good player in his Bournemouth years if he has 80% of that left in his tank he will be the best player on the pitch most weeks.

I was very envious of Bournemouth when they were doing great things with Arter running the midfield so I’m in…

Forest are a basket case and have been for some time, you can’t judge Arter on that.

Look back at our darkest days folks, anyone remember a certain Alan “Oxo Tower” McCormack?

F**k me, playing for us under Parky he looked like he’d been dragged off a scaffolding job on a local building site and this was his first game of football.

We hounded him out the door like he was Jimmy Savile trying to pop in for a goodnight cuddle with the kids and then what happened?

Yup, the next time we see Alan he is taking the absolute piss for Brentford at The Valley as they spanked us 3-0 and he was brilliant for them and played over 100 games for them.

The same thing happened with Simon “Calamity” Francis too and back in the 1980s Lennie specialised in getting players in that had been alienated at their clubs and then turned them back into top players, Steve Mackenzie, Jim Melrose, Colin Walsh, Paul Miller and Colin Pates come to mind.
I saw a good interview type thing with Lennie on You Tube and he mentioned how he always looked at players who were out of favour with their club - not just when he was manager with us, but throughout his managerial career. Always wanted players in that had a point to prove / felt hard done by.
Spot on, he was brilliant at doing that.

    Really happy with this.

I was  concerned that we didn't have any decent left footed players apart from the injured JFC.

I think Arter will be tremendous at this level.

Could be coming on second half for Ireland if they keep this lead and need steady heads to see it out

An interesting extract from his Wiki page -

"He later had a loan spell with Welling United as Charlton suffered relegation to League One and Arter was subsequently released by Parkinson as part of an effort to reduce costs at the club. Arter later expressed his disappointment with the decision, stating "The money I was asking for [...] was nothing. I would have taken anything to stay at the time, so it wasn't down to finance, it was him (Parkinson) not liking me as a footballer."[8] Despite his release, he was allowed to train with Charlton's youth team by coach Steve Avory who had worked with Arter for several years in his youth career.[13] Arter later undertook unsuccessful trials with Gillingham and Ipswich Town and even offered to remain with Charlton without pay but was rejected by Parkinson."

Interesting from that article that one of the things which helped him establish himself in the Bournemouth first team was the sale of Danny Hollands to us!

Apparently he's so two footed he doesn't even know if he's right or left footed.

“He was two footed and didn’t even know himself whether he was right or left footed, he was that good.

“He would take corners from both sides and with both feet and it was impossible to say which was best because he was brilliant with both.

That highlights video looks good, cant even remember the last player we had who wasn't afraid to have a shot from 25 yards.

People do realise that today’s footballers are nothing like, 70’s, 80’s players having a beer and a fag, before,at halftime time and after the game. Hence being 30+years old isn’t the same, especially the way sports science is used. Poor fuckers would be put down if it was up to a lot if people on here!!!🤣🙄

I thought Arter was very good at Fulham, bit surprised they didn't sign him.  You never quite know how confidence is lost by a poor fit and injuries.  If he plays to his potential then he's an upgrade on all our other cm's.

As for strikers Forrest is an absolute graveyard for them, but would have thought Arter would have slotted in perfectly there even after Hughton took charge.

Interesting to see that he made contact with Grant Basey to see if there was a chance for the move.

It seems to me that Phil Parkinson and Chris Hughton didn't like him. Plus the "if managed properly" comment from the Bournemouth fan I read somewhere on here, I get the impression that Arter is someone that needs to be treated carefully if you know what I mean😆 Of course I hope I'm wrong though and fingers crossed he'll be a great signing for us. At least it's good to know that it was himself that initially showed interest in coming back.
