Our strikers should have added two or three today but they missed everything.

Anneke 8 goals from 6 starts and 11 substitutions.
Washington 6 goals from 17 starts and 3 substitutions.
Bogle 2 goals from 10 starts and 5 substitutions.
Smyth 1 goal from 5 starts and 4 substitutions.
Ronnie Schwartz 1 goal from 0 starts and 3 substitutions.

Will drop Smyth and Bogle off this list from here.

Anneke 9 goals from 7 starts and 13 substitutions.
Washington 7 goals from 19 starts and 4 substitutions.
Bogle 2 goals from 11 starts and 5 substitutions.
Smyth 1 goal from 5 starts and 4 substitutions.
Ronnie Schwartz 1 goal from 2 starts and 5 substitutions.
Stockley 0 goals from 1 start and 1 substitution.

Anneke the first to hit double figures after his goal at Rochdale. Stockley has done well and deserves another one or two - perhaps against the Gills.

Anneke 10 goals from 8 starts and 14 substitutions.
Washington 7 goals from 19 starts and 4 substitutions.
Ronnie Schwartz 1 goal from 3 starts and 6 substitutions.
Stockley 1 goal from 3 starts and 1 substitution.

Stockley is clearly the quality of striker we should have had at the start of the season. Chuks and Washington have done ok but neither were firing us to promotion. Unsure about Schwarz, because aside from one very well executed goal, he's hardly managed to get on the ball. He may be struggling to adjust....

Anneke 11 goals from 9 starts and 14 substitutions.
Washington 7 goals from 19 starts and 5 substitutions.
Jayden Stockley 3 goals from 5 starts and 3 substitutions.
Ronnie Schwartz 1 goal from 3 starts and 8 substitutions.

Chuks only 3 away from what I thought would be a good return for him. Ironic really when the original question focused on what we might need for promotion. I will take Stockley to overtake Washington before the season's out.

Aneke 12 goals from 10 starts and 16 substitutions.
Washington 7 goals from 21 starts and 5 substitutions.
Jayden Stockley 4 goals from 7 starts and 3 substitutions.
Ronnie Schwartz 1 goal from 3 starts and 11 substitutions.

i like stockley but chucks is our best striker - the 2 of them should play whenever possible

    Amos

    Gunter - Pearce - Famewo

    Jaiyesimi - Watson - F.Caskey - Millar

    Washington - Stockley - Aneke

    GO FOR GOALS!!!

Conor Washington's improved form continues and he closes to within a goal of Chuks Aneke. Stockley and Schwartz both overdue a goal.

Aneke 12 goals from 11 starts and 19 substitutions.
Washington 11 goals from 25 starts and 5 substitutions.
Jayden Stockley 4 goals from 10 starts and 4 substitutions.
Ronnie Schwartz 1 goal from 3 starts and 13 substitutions.

Charlton hit the woodwork six times up to Jan 4th which was already among the top 20% in the EFL. Since then, hit the woodwork ten more times.

If they were we would start missing it.

We actually ended up with two proven goal scorers - well it was three rolled into two if you can follow my logic!

Aneke, Washington and Stockley have actually made, including as substitute, exactly 92 appearances i.e. two of them appeared, on average, every game were we have played had this been a full season. And they have amassed 34 goals between them which equals 17 apiece.

The issue has actually been goals from elsewhere as the whole of the rest of the squad have only managed 32 goals between them. So, perhaps, the issue moving forward, is, perhaps, not who will replace one of those front three but who will add goals to them. JFC has half a dozen and will be one but we need more of our goals coming from midfield and defenders at set pieces. I appreciate that we have had more actual goal scorers than a lot of teams but when you play more outfielders than almost everyone else (32) in the course of a season that should be the case.

Bump because it feels like we are having the same conversation all over again.

If either team had a striker of any worth they’d have won today.

Wednesday have signed Gregory who has scored in higher divisions. Wasn't playing today but expect he'll get a few this year for them.

    To answer the thread title.......

No bloody clue. But the current 4 that we have on the books wont get enough for promotion. Baring injuries Stockley will be top scorer, with Washington 2nd. Dont rate Davison or Schwartz (if he is still here) to get into double figures - probably half that.

We didnt have enough fire power last season to get promoted - this season is even worse.

We have the remainder of the summer window to sign another forward or 2.

Sandgaurd openly stated, with certainty, that we will be signing more players in this transfer window.

Our front 3 were ok today. A lot of misplaced passes and lack of composure when we needed to be clinical, but it will all improve as time goes on.

We are good enough. We defended accordingly against a good side in this division.

We could have won, but overall a draw was a fair enough result.

Sandgaard has said quite a lot......most of it has not (yet) come to fruition, so I'd hold fire on that one for now.

Hate to say it, but Callum is right. It was all there to see on Saturday. One half-chance in 90 minutes. We will obviously score goals but to get promoted, you have to get 30-plus from your strikeforce. Washington and Stockley don't have that. Davison and Schwartz won't off adequate cover if we lose either to injury. simply put, we need to bring in at least a Piggott look-a-like. Gregory would have been an ideal signing.

I'm not disagreeing that we need to strengthen our option up top but I'm not sure about the one half-chance. Stockley should have scored with that unmarked header from a free kick in the first half, Washington almost got a touch onto Stockley's header in that half to beat their keeper, Jayeseimi miscued his shot off the outside of the boot when in a good position and Morgan had two chances - one where he needed a bit of composure and to take a touch rather than blasting it wide and another where he followed up from a rebound and it flew past,

All told, we had 11 shots albeit none on target. Of those we should have scored with a couple of them. By the same token Wednesday threatened even less with just 6 shots although they had the best chance when Bannon was through.

I'm not sure Lee Gregory would have been the answer either.  He's scored 10 goals in his last two seasons and is 33 in a couple of weeks time which goes against what Adkins wants so far as mobility is concerned. He's also injury prone so much so that he is the only player I know who has sustained a knee injury doing absolutely nothing in bed as mentioned by his Manager at the time

"It was a bit of a freak injury, would you believe?

"He was in bed and not getting out, not falling out out of bed. Still to get what’s actually happened.

"He’s had a scan on his knee. He’s done his knee and we are awaiting the results of that.

"We’re hoping that won’t be a long-term problem for him."

We are having the same conversation because it's a carbon copy of last season on the pitch.

Sunderland early last season at the Valley, no shots on target. But tight at the back.

Sheff Wed, no shots on target but tight at the back; except for the Bannon run at the end.

We are more limited up front because at least Aneke went on to score a goal every 100 minutes or so in his limited time on the field, but Ronnie Schwartz remains the Elephant in the room and we are back to square one.

Accirding to our regular statistician on here Stockers has 9 so far.......4 of which are in the cup against lower league / non league sides.

Come back to me when he gets over 20 in the League against his peers......like Sir Clive or Killer.

(Imagine the stats those 2 might have if they had played in micky mouse cups)

Albie will ping in a few this season.

This is a league where Magennis scored 18 league goals last season. If we can keep playing Jackoball for most of the season Stockley is capable of 20 or close to it.

Imagine the stats if we had a good manager all season.
