Wonder how soon after the Final he held talks with Alex Neil

Have no grudge towards him in the slightest as he gave every indication long before the end of the season that he'd be leaving - Proves I dont think there was a chance of him remaining at the club even when we were talking aboutt him potentially staying
If we’d got in the real world of Championship wages I reckon we may have had a chance but we’re lower end of wages hence we are lower end of the table

The BFG possibly staying was only ever wishful thinking. Thanks to a wholly unacceptable offer from the club for a new contract he had long before decided to leave. Despite that, he and the others never shirked a tackle - they could have been injured and left high and dry without a contract but no-one ever held back. Warriors!! Pat's demeanour at Wembley was a study in mixed feelings. At such a spectacular moment of triumph and amidst all the wild celebrations he was already set on a different course because he had given his word, particularly for a German a serious matter. The Roland years had many painful blunders but few were as grievous as the loss of Patrick Bauer. He'll always be an Addick.

I think there was a good chance he would have signed a new deal if he had been offered a good contract , which he deserved. Twice since he has left we ( CAFC Museum & Glasshalffull ) have approached him and he has happily agreed to sign pictures for us which have raised a lot of money for us. Top guy

Patrick - WTF was you doing up there in the Sunderland box with seconds left? Very irresponsible defending.

Top class player - top class bloke.

Decent bloke and defender. Leaving aside the wages, in footballing terms Preston WAS a step up, a decent, well run Championship side likely to be challenging for the playoffs as they finished last season well

Interesting that he picked out Diarra as his best player, but then under Roland in the early days we did have many quality players, but also far too many duds.

Does anyone else still shed a tear at that goal ?

A brilliant vid that one(for us). Not seen it before and really enjoyed it. You can see his emotion at losing it with 4 seconds to go. A great lad to be fair.

Thats both beautiful and agonising to watch at the same time, you have to feel for Sunderland, great to re-live from our perspective though and what a roar!

Well, it's certainly 'X rated' viewing for Mackems.

Their fans have been class towards us at both finals. Genuinely hope if it's not us at Wembley they experience the winning feeling this year.

I remember not looking forward to the potential final in 2010 as Millwall were already there. Planning to walk to the stadium from the north of the ground to avoid their scummy fans. Probably why I never hated Bailey as much as others for that penalty.

Millwall were in form and there's a good chance they would have beaten us at Wembley which would have been horrible. I think we dodged a bullet there!

There is an excellent chance they'd have beaten us, given the fact we NEVER beat them, not to mention that season had seen an agg scoreline of 8-4 to them in the League!!

Plus having 10k flat caps waiting for us on Wembley Way if we'd won.
