They need a people's vote because there will be a backlash otherwise.

    Peoples vote:

    No Deal - backlash
    This deal - backlash
    No Brexit - backlash

    We are a divided country.
Or “People’s Votes” on Independence for Scotland and unification/independence in NI, both countries vote for it and rejoin the EU. England and Wales leave the EU without a deal and everyone’s happy?

To avoid the fallacious argument that another referendum would be undemocratic, the simple choice on another referendum could be:

    Accept this deal.

    Reject this deal and renegotiate.

The latter would need the EU to agree an extention of Article 50.

No options of No deal or cancelling Brexit.

Trouble is, Remainers will do their utmost to turn any second referendum in to a Brexit cancellation vote. They're already playing their semantic games by calling it a "People's Vote" as if that somehow makes it more valid and popular, coz the 'people' (whoever they are) want it.

    I disagree

No deal: That's what we will have - we can't stop 'idiots' voting - not my words, but what people will say and we are a democracy
This deal: That will happen and May will be vindicated
No brexit: Brexiters may say we were always going to have another vote until we voted to remain, but they can't argue it was the will of the people.

We may be divided, but any of the three will end something that has been dividing us since the initial vote! In the short to medium term at least.
  • Rees Mogg has put in his letter. Makes leadership contest inevitable as a lot of ERG were holding back on his advice.

    Runners and riders ?

  • Quote from 'Shooters Hill Addick'
With the exception of Rees-Mogg and equally lunatic brexiters. A no deal Brexit is universally condemned

Read this para from yesterdays 'left wing' Daily Mirror
    Letters Page:
'Millions of men died to give this countrt freedom and democracy to rule ourselves.
so why can't MPs and the public get behind the PM and get us out of one
of the most corrupt organistions in the world, ie the EU'

    Serious food for thought!
  • They are making their move - they don't want Brexit, they want an extreme Brexit! It is important they are shot down.
  • She is just answering the same questions over and over again. Hasn’t she got more important stuff to be doing now?
  • I think that in itself should tell her something. A village idiot should be able to tell her that her deal is dead. She has to accept that!

    She won’t very soon...!
  • Forget about other parties, She needed enough of her party and the DUP to get behind it and it is clear today that won't happen. She may get a few stray Labour MPs, but the numbers are not going to work for her.
  • You have to admire her stamina, patience and intellect in handling all these questions, off the cuff, for the last few hours.

To be fair I would probably vote to get myself as far away as possible from this debacle if I lived in Scotland!
  • Pie charts and breaking down of leave votes are great

Yes or no we voted yes - now the government must see it through

I would like to see a vote on the 3 options but don’t have any faith in it being followed through

You mean the First Minister for Scotland banging the drum that the Party was formed for in the first place ?

My cats could do better than May. So yes.
Although I hope we get another referendum and stay in.
