KM having any input into player recruitment is like my asking my sister who we should sign. And she absolutely hates football.
Of course I agree. The woman is a complete incompetent who shouldn't be involved with the football club, let alone anywhere near first team transfers.
But, if she thinks we need a striker and KR doesn't, I would agree with her. And that is possibly only the second time I have ever said that.
I'm not a KR fan but there is absolutely no way he doesn't want another striker. Regardless if Mavididi has interest from Champ level, he should have the support of the board to try get him, not be told 'I want someone else' as Swisdom has suggested.
agreed. The issue may be waiting for Mavididi and he ends up going to the Champ, leaving us with a plan B, which this club rarely has. It will be Umerah, Kennedy or Hanlan stepping up or a panic signing.
Indeed - although Roland probably thinks she's doing a decent job. Plenty of player sales, some good youngsters coming through from the Academy and she is acting as a buffer for most of the flak aimed at the regime. For a man for whom winning is secondary, relegation and the mediocrity of last season are nothing to get too excited about.
We need a specialist striker, (in an ideal world one better than Mag)and he has to be a big hold up type of player.
If we cannot have better we need an experienced goal scorer from a higher level on his way out of football (old), or a young player on his way up (as in the Walsal player I mentioned).
As it is we do not have a player that can come on, liven things up and nick us a goal, let alone replace Mag should he get injured.
One of the ironies of signing Dasilva is that we are now promoting one from Chelsea's baby farm, not one of our own. I'll be surprised if we sign Mavididi because playing Arsenal's promising 'baby striker' in our team will not sit well with Roland. Perhaps KAG will come good this season? Of course Roland will be chuffed that Dijksteel is going to be added to the 1st team squad so he will not have to spend any money on right back cover but I am pleased that he and Barnes and maybe Lapslie are progressing well because I indeed do like the idea of Charlton developing their youth team players...I just don't want them sold at the drop of a hat like they are at the moment. We definitely do need to buy a keeper and a striker because if we do not sign a decent striker I don't think we will score enough goals to be promoted.
At the end of the day three signings so far with the opening game just over a week away is a poor showing. Key positions still not covered no matter how it's dressed up!
All incomings have been ok Karl's wish list. He is calling the shots.
So it's knobinsons decision not to sign a keeper? Nothing to do with him being told to play and develop the youngsters?????
Knobinsons quoted theneed to do business early and sign two keepers. 10 days before the season starts and how many goalkeepers have we signed. How is knobinsons calling the shots

Four signings plus Kashi and Sarr, so it's like 6 new signings, need a keeper obviously and maybe one or two more but we're not far away.

Karl said himself he needs four.
Well he said 3/4 before signing Dasilva and I suppose it's still 4 because of Marshall getting injured, still over a month until the window shuts the one main signing we need asap is a keeper.
Just looked at predictions can't believe how optimistic some are. We have invested even less in the team this year than last. We got ajose last year for something between£600000 to£800000 so we are led to believe and Ricky Holmes. This year we've got 3 players in think only paying a fee for Clarke. We've let Tex caballos and Igor go and loaned out Ajose. We've got 1 keeper 1 left back.we will get 3 long term injuries over the season I would guess on average which Marshall is one already if we lose Holmes mag and kashi or JFC who seem to be injury pron I think we've a good chance of being relegated I'm afraid.

At the time, buying TWO keepers seemed excessive, but not getting any keeper in 3 days before our final preseason game is unfortunate, in terms of building up understanding with the defence, unless KR sees this keeper as backup rather than 1st choice?
wonder what the issue with Martin is considering he has joined us for training twice.
I think KR wants him but is being told no money for a GK as well have Philips.
Going by what Roland has said in the past this is probably the case... Doesnt want to splash the cash when we've got a Goalkeeper who can make the step up and play anyway, whats the point of signing a second 'keeper and having one unhappy on the bench.
The fact he doesnt ever take injuries into account (Seeing that both Henderson and Rudd our last two main Goalkeepers have been injured over the last two seasons) proves that the club are not learning from mistakes!!

Mind you, sometimes it's difficult to tell the difference.
I think Martin wants more than RD is willing to pay.
Oh, and Ed " Boogie on down" Balls was in the Directors' Box.
