May I say that not every Chinese person owns or works in a food establishment, and that some Chinese food is poor fare and some Chinese people are poor cooks. Must every Chinese reference rush to the same stereotype?
Seth leave off for Christ’s sake......tell us something we don’t all know. Are you trying to educate us all and me in particular. Why take it so f’ing seriously......blimey!
maybe because he finds it offensive to his family?
Would you be happy about people insulting your family even if it was meant to be a "joke"?
I am well aware of his family connections. My attempts at a perfectly harmless joke not withstanding.
harmess to you, not to others perhaps. Why is it so hard to see that?
We should ALL lighten up. As we speak there are many thousands likely making fun of us Brits somewhere in the world....it doesn’t offend me one little bit. Far more troublesome things going on than harmless stereotyping and silly jokes. I’ve travelled extensively all over the world and heard many a joke about the English/Brits, I just give as good as I get and laugh it off. Maybe it’s a generational thing (me now being 70), I don’t know?

But we're not talking about somewhere else, we're talking about here, Charlton Life.
And Seth Plum is roughly your age so that is no excuse either.
My comment this time was born of weariness not offence, although there are offensive remarks made from time to time. Are we so unimaginative and lacking in curiosity that certain things lead to a kind of auto response? If there are going to be references to people from the Orient, I would invite folk to be rather more creative and imaginative and informed in their 'banter'.

I can confirm this. I once had a Chinese girlfriend and her Chinese cooking was terrible, some of the worst food I have ever eaten.

Thanks for clarifying that Seth.....I in no way whatsoever meant any offence to anyone. Christ you have to be so bloody careful nowadays, some people get so touchy. I don’t know why I should be surprised but I absolutely hate it when people on the very odd occasion pull me up for a joke....it’s only a very serious step away from falling into the category of being labelled a racialist, which to my way of thinking just isn’t the case. Learn to laugh at one another is my take and give back as good as you get....which I think I’m right in saying is the view of most people from my immediate post war generation.

I think everyone knew you wasn’t trying to offend, unfortunately there are people who love being offended on behalf of others and seem to get off on it.
@SoundAsa£ , I'm sure you are not a bad person, but you do appear to lack empathy.
I wonder if you would still find it funny if you had been the butt of the same stereotypical sexist / racist / nationalist / religious / sizeist or ageist jokes on a daily basis and twice on Sundays? It is one of the curses of social media that we now cannot even escape this drip, drip, drip of unwelcome comments in our own homes unless we become social hermits. Most of the time people do just shrug their shoulders at this kind of behaviour, but if we are guilty of stepping on someone's corns, and it is pointed out, I think it behoves us to just apologise and try to avoid repeating the offence.

I do think this Political Correctness is interesting, in how far do we take it.
I have a friend who always refers to me as “Mental Mart” now, I don’t believe he’s wishing to be discriminating towards me but I do often think, should I say something, does he realise the possible implications of what he’s saying or am I just being a bit over sensitive.
For the most part I don’t mind but then again and I don’t know this but does he have this tendency with all other marginalised groups and if so, perhaps he does need to be made aware of his incorrectness?

Like I do with various posters on here, I take the piss out of @SoundAsa£ on a constant basis.
None of them have felt the need to be offended by my, frankly hilarious observations. All of them give it back in spades.
I do enjoy posting a continual negative narrative about the French, but that is (mostly) tongue in cheek and does get a few bites now and again - though I though that @ShootersHillGuru should have realised that by now
To be fair most people are aware of Seth's family ties and do respect his position, but none of this is aimed directly at his family and none of it is meant with any kind of malice, of that I'm 100% certain.
The biggest fear in it all for me and always has been is his wealth remember he doesn’t have to sell it’s not being generated by need of cash and that makes his a very strong position in any negotiation
I still have a horrible feeling he will fuck us one more time before he goes
Agree. And it could well be the people he sells us to.
He does not like Charlton fans.
He most likely wants some form of revenge against a group of people that got under his skin.
Thats also maybe why the asking price is shockingly stupid and unrealistic.
Things have escalated to personal in his mind and he may attempt to gain some form of last laugh.
It may be a slow painful death for Charlton.
Lets just hope not eh
I'm afraid that this might over-state the significance of Addicks fans to RD, not to say their actual existence. We are just munchkins in his eyes, as no doubt are all the fans with whom he has been involved. The only thing that matters to RD is, neatly enough, RD himself.
It's been said many times that he bought the wrong club but it's also fair to say he invested in the wrong industry. He has absolutely no feeling for football, its career professionals nor its die-hard fans.
He possibly thought he could make money by various commercial activities, player sales and in CAFC's case winning the lottery for the PL. Furthermore, although it's been disputed in these pages I still suspect our enormous losses are somehow being rinsed through the complaisant Belgian tax regime. In his personal life he is very careful with money - why would he suddenly throw so many of his lovely euros into football's bottomless pit?
Because he chooses to finance the club from his own resources he is in effect his own unsecured creditor. No bank would have readily agreed to lend him money for the reckless spending spree of the past four years. The necessary assets are just not there, and all the time costs are mounting up. So, now it is time to pull up the steps and take his caravan off elsewhere, he has to try to recoup his losses. So much good money has been squandered that s.s. Charlton Athletic is so far under water it might as well be renamed FC Titanic.
But - RD has to save face at all costs. He has to find the exit strategy that allows him to disengage with the least damage to his all-important prestige and his limitless self-esteem, and he is finding out that this not at all an easy task. Strangely enough potential buyers are careful to check on what it is that they're actually buying, unlike RD himself. When he bought CAFC he was just happy to find a real bargain, an absolute steal in fact, and he couldn't take it fast enough off the hands of that sorry pair of jokers before someone else came along with a better offer. RD makes his own decisions and can use his own cash resources. Due diligence is for wimps - RD backs his own track record and his own judgement.
Fwiw, I think he will sell on deferred terms, with a sizeable sum payable at some indeterminate date in the future. Eventually he will quietly write off his painful and inevitable loss, undisclosed naturally.
Well, we are where we are. Buyers are in no rush, and it's doubtful if they can be induced into some kind of auction. If eventually we end up with another raw deal sadly the protests must continue. Poor rich ol' Roland just didn't have a clue - is it too much to hope for third time lucky? Next, please!

Your probably right and what you say here makes a bit more general sense. He said it himself....1.5%
I'm reliably informed that there is nothing happening and its been a non story from the start. Felt it the honourable thing to do to put you all out of suspense. I don't say this with any pleasure and I'm sure most will either ignore me or call me beardface or some other nonsense but there you go. Only passing on what I've been told - if I think its appropriate - as always.
I'm sure that's what you've been told and it may be that nothing will happen. However, I wouldn't have put it out there without having very solid and detailed information from more than one credible source. So I am confident that "there is nothing happening and it's been a non-story from the start" is simply not true.
Fair enough but for me to be told what I've been told would suggest that if something was happening, it's not now - like you, we're only going by what others tell us.

I've got to say, I think many of your generation use their generation as an excuse to get away with racial stereotyping. Not saying all but many.
I won't say millennials or Gen X are any better with racial discrimination, in my opinion therw is just less hiding behind excuses such as "it was normal in my generation".
Not sure which is worse. Just don't really think linking all Chinese people to the food is on from a personal perspective.
Having seen a very close Asian friend verbally and physically assaulted this weekend in broad daylight and taken a few digs myself for sticking up for him, I'm likely a bit sensative on it myself this weekend as a result.
The group was 6 blokes mixed aged from maybe 18 to probably 50.
Sick of racism. Sick of bullying. Sick of mindless violence.
Thank feck the football this weekend gave us both something to smile about. He had £20 on mavididi to score anytime on my advice.
