I know its been an absolute nightmare and we all want roland gone asap, but... is there anything more to these rumours that it's off than there have been the last 5 times the takeover was rumoured to be dead?
I don’t think anyone was conned I think there was a gamble made by aussies and RD that didn’t work
I was told very early on that RD was not keen on the deal that may be best for cafc long term
I think both wanted to get it done in the beginning but then it fell apart.
I don't understand, if RD was not keen on the Aussie deal why did he let the Saudi's slip away? It strikes me he is just a very greedy man who has overpriced his assets and now we are all paying the price for that. I don't blame the Saudi's for walking away, I don't blame the Aussies for sticking around and trying to to get a reasonable deal. There's only one person to blame for the mess that's the bloke who bought the club, didn't understand it, didn't try to understand it, arrogantly denied his mistakes rather than trying to learn from them, epitomised the reverse-Midas touch as everything he touched turned to shit and when the club crashed and burned decided to sell for a price significantly more than he'd paid for it. The bloke is a Grade A arsehole, there's absolutely no need to go scratching around looking for someone else to blame.
It will as the Saudi deal he wasn’t keen on he wanted the Aussie one imo
No one is saying he ain’t to blame he is to blame
But there’s others that need to explain why they bid for s club that they didn’t have the funding in place to complete and why they out bid a group that did have clear funds

If the Aussies bid more than the Saudis, then it’s hardly surprising that he went for their bid, we all would have.
If their bid falls through, they have to shoulder part of the blame

I'm convinced they believed they could haggle at the last minute - which they attempted - to get the club at the 'right' price, they didn't expect RD to hold firm, at which point their plan started to fall apart.
Remember every post on this thread is another new seat at the new stadium.
Maybe the takeover will happen when we have 40k comments and a blueprint for a 40k stadium on the Peninsular.
If you look at the peninsular now and the Chinese developers' proposed housing/retail/office plans you will not find space for a new stadium. The space needed would not generate enough use to make it worthwhile.
If I was RD I'd seek out that old time trader from Woolwich market, employ him as the agent and get him to liaise with the Arabs.
"I don't want 80 million, I don't want 60 million, I don't even want 50 million. Give me 40 million pounds cash and you walk away with a fantastic football club, first class facilities, a board room with a view to impress and influence people - and a fan base guaranteed to sell out every game - once you get to the Premiership. All this and bang in the middle of London. What more could you possibly want?"
(Voice quietens whilst theatrically tapping nose with index finger) Ere, ere, tell you what I'll do ... I'll even throw in a new boiler for the pitch and get it connected up and everything, come on you know it makes sense. (Offer hand, shake on deal). Simple.

They have shouldered part of the blame. The due dilligence exercise cost them over a million pounds & they have nothing to show for it.

The Saudi stuff appeared to be linked to the Bristol Rovers chairman, Hamer. Two ex-directors with knowledge of him said to me he would be very bad news based on a previous approach.
We may never know, but it is foolish to assume one bidder is preferable to another. Nobody knows. All we know is that Duchatelet has to go.

Interesting. So any idea that the Saudi bid was a missed opportunity might be jumping the gun?

That’s uncanny, but how could you possibly have met my great grandfather?
I'm a bit surprised that here hasn't been more comment on Richard Cawley's piece in the SLP about Keith Harris?
Cawley says:
"Duchatelet has been in discussions over a deal with a consortium which is understood to include at least two individuals – one of those Australian tycoon Andrew Muir. Gerard Murphy was expected to be the new chief executive.
Harris was tasked with finding other investors to push the takeover through and it is unclear if he has achieved that".
Implying that Harris has been trying to find other investors to join the Australian Consortium?
But when Harris was first linked to a possible sale of CAFC in 2017 he was said to be a 'Broker' acting on behalf of Duchatelet to find a buyer?
Airman Brown October 2017
The only thing Karl Robinson's comment illuminates to me is timing and I don't know what else the bloke is supposed to say even when if he knows anything, which he may not. But Louis is quite entitled to ask him. It doesn't change the fact there is a live due diligence process involving the club's lawyers or the fact that Keith Harris is acting on behalf of the club to broker a sale.
So if he's now been trying to find new investors to join the Aussies' bid doesn't that mean that it's unlikely that there are any other prospective buyers about - otherwise why would Duchatelet's 'broker' be trying to keep the Aussie bid afloat?

Harris works on commission, which ultimately comes out of the sale price or club funds, essentially two sides of the same coin. So you can take whatever view you like of who he is working for - his aim is to get a deal done. Hamer is also his mate.
If the Aussie deal is now dead in the water (as seems), does that leave the space for previously interested parties to swim back into view?
So if you were selling a house for let’s say £400k and some one called Mr Sand bid £350k , as did Mr Kangaroo and another man called Mr Madeup bid £330k and then Mr Kanagaroo says I’ll make it £380k and Mr Sand says I’m not getting involved in a bidding war I’m out , you agree a deal with Mr Kangaroo . Then the fixtures and fittings started to be sold off and Mr Kangaroo was still interested but couldn’t get the mortgage together and flapped around and dug behind sofas and started haggling because the Konsatina doors that were quite valuable had been sold off on the cheap and basically the sale wasn’t gonna happen , all along Mr Madeup is saying I’m still here .... Would you continue to fritter money away on rent and patching up poorly the house or would you go back and see if Mr Sand was still about or look to see if Mr Madeup wants to buy ..... Or because you are as thick as deuxshits you say nope £400k or nothing and I’m happy to spend £100k a year keeping the house ticking over ....

"As if by magic... the shopkeeper appeared." Hopefully he will buy the club.
