Not at any price though or they'd be almost as silly as Roland is.PeteF said:About time the Aussies got this sorted... if they wanted the club, really wanted it, surely it would have happened by now.

I bet most of them laughed out loud at the quote.Missed It said:
I've said it before but what Roland wants is not selling the club per se, his main aim is to get his money back. This is the reason he 'loaned' the money to the club in the first place. The only method left for him to achieve this is by selling the club, as he will never achieve football success and the youth academy cupboard is now bare.JessieAddick said:The Chinese businessman that visited our club last year just commented on my Weibo post about our difficult situation saying that the asking price was 40m (meaning too high). Even an outsider knows why the sale still can't be completed after such a long time - Is it really all that complicated? Over a thousand pages of discussions about what? If RD really desperately wants to sell he'd lower the price to an acceptable level and there certainly will be buyers who are willing and able to buy. Even if Murray is causing difficulties, an attractive price would compensate. No club is impossible to sell.
Sunderland had complicated finances as well but their American owner wiped all of the debts so that the deal could go through smoothly. That's the difference between a bad owner and a much worse owner. RD will never do the same thing.
If he wanted to sell, the club would be priced to sell and a chunk of the debt written off. £40m for Charlton in its current state is a ridiculous valuation and Roland is extremely fortunate that the Australian consortium is prepared to consider pay that much. Too many other interested parties have walked away when they find out the asking price.1 -

I just find that too hard to believe, I think they always planned to drop the price at the last minute and did not expect the reaction they got from RD, it was a dangerous game that they lost, sadly, so did we.1905 said:

Of course we still don’t know definitively what’s going on, but I guess we’ll hear soon.
If they’ve failed it’s a damned shame, because I think they had the potential to give us ‘proper’ ownership for the first time in years.
I wouldn’t have said those things if I didn’t know GM, who I know for a fact isn’t/wasn’t trying to make a land grab, at least.
They didn’t share any details about their business plans, other than that it was a five year plan.1 -

I have a theory that this delay is linked to the transfer window being open, but could well be wrong.
The Aussies have been around for months...Many thought it would be done by the last transfer window.

I think there's another infinity loop at play on this thread. It goes like this:
1. Takeover doesn't go ahead
2. Someone posits some speculation as to why it might not have gone through yet
3. That person is asked to explain why they think that, what they've heard, what else do they know, why aren't they sharing more information, why they believe what they've been told, whether they're being sold a lie, why they are so credulous, why won't they give more information, what are they hiding, etc...
4. The person is unable to
answer one or more of their interlocutors' questions in what is regarded as sufficient detail.
5. Everything they post subsequently is criticised or ignored.
6. The takeover doesn't go ahead.1 -

Listen to todays "The Charlton Fans Show" on Love Sport Radio. John Salako said he spoke to someone recently about a business plan being put together to move from The Valley to a brand new stadium in the local area.
If true the question is who's putting that together? And is it an attempt to try to attract potential new owners?0 -
But we also know that the Aussies raised their bid and made the Saudi one walk away so it’s not just a case of wrong one is it reallyChizz said:It's looking more and more like Roland, having been given a choice of a number of consortia from whom to choose, each submitting an acceptable bid, has chosen the wrong one. Assuming his spokespeople have been telling the truth when they claimed that there were a number of acceptable bids.
So it's either a case of him lying to the fans (again) or making a terrible, costly decision (again).1 -
My issue with the Aussie consortium is that they clearly agreed a ball park price that Roland was happy with, one which was enough to make them his preferred buyers.
The selling price is up to the buyers and sellers, BUT if all the potential buyers had rejected the £40m, then he would have had to reduce it. 6 months ago. Unless I see evidence to the contrary, they are partly to blame for this fiasco.0 -
Further on Salako says they have "ridiculous amounts of money" and it would be a 40-50,000 capacity stadium 2 miles up the road. Says it's still in the offering when asked he was told this recently. They had apparently looked at clubs like West Ham.Scoham said:https://www.lovesportradio.com/on-air/the-charlton-fans-show/

Utter bollocks. This would need a profit between Peninsula and Valley. Apart from the steep side issues and overlooked by flats, access only via Charlton Lane wouldn't get through planning. A new road under the railway would have to be built. Oh and it has been tried before. Ask Back to the Valley Party activists.Scoham said:https://www.lovesportradio.com/on-air/the-charlton-fans-show/

Aren’t we still in the “difficult 2 weeks” before it will all hopefully be good news?
My conspiracy theory on this is that Roland is waiting for Lookman to be sold, he can use that money to help pay the directors loans and will then be able to sell with clear title. The difficult 2 weeks is because the Aussies want it done now so they can use the window but Roland dragging his feet. My guess therefore is that the sale is completed within 5 days of Lookman being sold or transfer window closing.

Roland doesn’t even follow football so how would he know about potential transfers?1 -
Interesting how Keith Harris's name has popped up again today, considering he works for Everton, who incidentally are in the process of selling lookman, who would net Charlton (who am I kidding, I mean Roland) a last payday.
I know he's been involved since the start but it's interesting3 -

Another depressing season starts tomorrow, what a time to be alive.
Then the "Charlton affect" steamed in and here we are. Maybe Mark Hulyer can organise another rubber shipment to fill the financial gap? Maybe Zabeel will dust off their old DD? Maybe Sunley will build us a new stand? Maybe the lovely Glikstein family will find some old mouldies down the sofa and give us more depression. Maybe we can throw money in a bucket and buy another striker? Maybe we could play on Friday nights to bolster the crowd and use the carpark for a market on Saturday? Maybe we can share with those c***s again to keep the club alive?
In short, apart from the recent premiership years, common sense or luck never touches this club. It takes something different to be a Charlton fan. But one day it must change, but its the hope ..............9 -
It's not looking, just at the moment, like the "right" choice though, is it really?. Not until or unless it goes through and the Aussies are the owners.nth london addick said:

I don't know whether it's true that the Aussies raised their bid and made the Saudi consortium (if there was one) walk away. But if the Saudi consortium agreed a figure with Roland for Charlton and that didn't go through, it's yet another question that needs to be put to him, ie "if you agreed to sell it to a Saudi consortium for an agreed fee, why didn't it go through? Is it because you were playing one buyer off against another or that they simply didn't trust you?"
Until then, it appears that Roland made the wrong choice. As he's done with almost every decision regarding Charlton for more than four years. Starting with the decision to buy the wrong club.
There's only one person to blame for the fact that Roland Duchatalet still owns Charlton.6 -
Roland Duchatelet is to blame for our plight
When it’s confirmed it’s all off then the Aussies will be accountable for assisting in the death toll
They cost us the Saudi bid that would’ve been extremely beneficial
RD was never going to accept a bid that was less money just because it would be good for cafc
7 -
Again, if there was a bid that he had agreed, then he needs to be called out as to why it didn't complete. If he chose a "better" bid, and, in doing so, lost the sale, it's entirely his fault. He's responsible. He's accountable.nth london addick said:Roland Duchatelet is to blame for our plight
