  • I think there's another infinity loop at play on this thread. It goes like this:

    1. Takeover doesn't go ahead
    2. Someone posits some speculation as to why it might not have gone through yet
    3. That person is asked to explain why they think that, what they've heard, what else do they know, why aren't they sharing more information, why they believe what they've been told, whether they're being sold a lie, why they are so credulous, why won't they give more information, what are they hiding, etc...
    4. The person is unable to
answer one or more of their interlocutors' questions in what is regarded as sufficient detail.
    5. Everything they post subsequently is criticised or ignored.
    6. The takeover doesn't go ahead.

Click on it to read it. Basically says Keith Harris has been trying to find new investors so the takeover can go through, and that it’s unclear if that’s happened. If it hasn’t happened it says it’s in danger of collapsing.

Ahem “Aussies ain’t got the money”

Drops mic and walks away could’ve closed the thread in October
Ah, so this is the famous ‘waving of the willy’ that I’ve heard so much about ;-)
seems to be what the SLP are indicating @JamesSeed i think theres been so much dragging of heels that people interested have said i am off
Fair play if you turned out to be right all along. As I’ve said I’ve only had very little info since the beer meeting, and none of that was financial.
Of course we still don’t know definitively what’s going on, but I guess we’ll hear soon.
If they’ve failed it’s a damned shame, because I think they had the potential to give us ‘proper’ ownership for the first time in years.
I think anyone has the potential to give us 'proper' ownership but let's face initially it at the time of takeover we thought the same about RD and the spivs! :(
The difference here being that no one knew them personally did they? (As far as I know).
I wouldn’t have said those things if I didn’t know GM, who I know for a fact isn’t/wasn’t trying to make a land grab, at least.
Apologies I didnt know you personally knew GM I thought your insight / opinion came from one of the lackey's who worked for him. Not withstanding that, in my opinion, and bar telling people snippets of what they want to hear, SomeoSomeone would have to know someone extremely well to share detailed information about their business plans especially parts that they might not want out in the public domain!

They didn’t share any details about their business plans, other than that it was a five year plan.
    Which we already knew.
    How did you know that?
I can't remember it was said so long ago.

The 5 year plan was to get the under performing club .
    This how it feels.

Listen to todays "The Charlton Fans Show" on Love Sport Radio. John Salako said he spoke to someone recently about a business plan being put together to move from The Valley to a brand new stadium in the local area.

If true the question is who's putting that together? And is it an attempt to try to attract potential new owners?

It's looking more and more like Roland, having been given a choice of a number of consortia from whom to choose, each submitting an acceptable bid, has chosen the wrong one. Assuming his spokespeople have been telling the truth when they claimed that there were a number of acceptable bids.

So it's either a case of him lying to the fans (again) or making a terrible, costly decision (again).

But we also know that the Aussies raised their bid and made the Saudi one walk away so it’s not just a case of wrong one is it really
  • My issue with the Aussie consortium is that they clearly agreed a ball park price that Roland was happy with, one which was enough to make them his preferred buyers.

The selling price is up to the buyers and sellers, BUT if all the potential buyers had rejected the £40m, then he would have had to reduce it. 6 months ago. Unless I see evidence to the contrary, they are partly to blame for this fiasco.

Further on Salako says they have "ridiculous amounts of money" and it would be a 40-50,000 capacity stadium 2 miles up the road. Says it's still in the offering when asked he was told this recently. They had apparently looked at clubs like West Ham.

Utter bollocks. This would need a profit between Peninsula and Valley. Apart from the steep side issues and overlooked by flats, access only via Charlton Lane wouldn't get through planning. A new road under the railway would have to be built. Oh and it has been tried before. Ask Back to the Valley Party activists.
  • Aren’t we still in the “difficult 2 weeks” before it will all hopefully be good news?

My conspiracy theory on this is that Roland is waiting for Lookman to be sold, he can use that money to help pay the directors loans and will then be able to sell with clear title. The difficult 2 weeks is because the Aussies want it done now so they can use the window but Roland dragging his feet. My guess therefore is that the sale is completed within 5 days of Lookman being sold or transfer window closing.

It's for precisely that reason that I've not told anyone the information I know about who's buying, when the deal is going to be made and just how exciting it is. Sorry folks, I can't take the risk of being shunned so you're all gonna have to wait.

If Lookman moves to Germany he has until the end of August for the transfer to be completed.

Maybe true but how likely is this?

Roland doesn’t even follow football so how would he know about potential transfers?
  • Interesting how Keith Harris's name has popped up again today, considering he works for Everton, who incidentally are in the process of selling lookman, who would net Charlton (who am I kidding, I mean Roland) a last payday.

I know he's been involved since the start but it's interesting
  • So no blame any where else

    That’s ridiculous

I think so. I looked on their website before posting, but couldn't see it.
But I didn't imagine it, so you're probably right.

What has a new stadium 2 miles from The Valley got to do with Charlton Lane etc ?

    Ah I see, I apologise.
  • I gave up on the takeover 300 pages ago. I have felt much better ever since. I highly recommend it. Getting aligned with "what is" does wonders.
  • Roland Duchatelet is to blame for our plight

When it’s confirmed it’s all off then the Aussies will be accountable for assisting in the death toll

They cost us the Saudi bid that would’ve been extremely beneficial

RD was never going to accept a bid that was less money just because it would be good for cafc

So. Roland was conned. Any conman will tell you that people are only conned when they want to be conned.
  • I don’t think anyone was conned I think there was a gamble made by aussies and RD that didn’t work

I was told very early on that RD was not keen on the deal that may be best for cafc long term

I think both wanted to get it done in the beginning but then it fell apart.

That seems about right to me. Thanks for bringing a dose of reality to this thread
  • Should have got the Arabs, rather than the Aussies upping their bid when they didn’t even have finances in place.
